http://www.tf2items.com/id/goldnuts This guy would probably kill himself if buds became craftable. (He has 200)
I don't wish death to hoarders, but I really hate them because people who likes the items for how they look or they are just fan of the series they're from (like sam and max) can't get those items without spending months trading or paying stupidly high prices Hell, this is stupid, virtual items aren't worth anything, (and if the developers of a game put a store is to make extra profit to main the game, so buying directly from the store in certain cases is more like donating) for some reason this reminds me of wall street on 1920-1930
I kind of doubt that sales from the store on promo items go to the other companies. They get attention from promo sales.
Yeah, I can't believe he decided to spend money on something and then just hold onto it, like a fucking... I don't know, investment! That's fucking stupid, who would do that? That's just so stupid, he should take his life, commit suicide, kill himself, because he hoarded an item in a video game. People who do something as evil as that just don't deserve to live, they should all die horrible, painful deaths and commit suicide. Hah, I bet he's gay too, fucking fag, amirite guys? [sp]Yes, this is exactly how stupid you sound.[/sp]
Good job, you don't see the point of the post. I am targeting his hoarding and not allowing actual fans achieve what they truly wish to wear. I am not targeting for him to give away his bought items, just saying why would you need so much for fucks sake.

While I don't approve of what he does or how it affects others, I'm not going to pass judgement on him, claiming he should somehow be punished for his actions. I don't approve, but I don't condemn.
Second, I missed the point of the post?
i hope fags like him do kill themselves. selfish greedy ass basterds.
Nope, I read it again, you don't mention his hoarding affecting others or your empathy towards fans who are negatively impacted, literally all you said was you hope fags like him kill themselves, "selfish greedy ass basterds." I agree that it's bad how his actions affect others, but your post indicated none of that, all it was, was angry swearing and name calling.
I'm sure if you were in his shoes, you would do the same.
I think I could find better ways to waste thousands of dollars...

Selfish- Not allowing others to gain one for their own, Greedy- Makes a profit off of ridiculous prices Ass- A jerk move in all,Basterd- Another final description defining his actions.
Team Fortress 2 Update - 5/19/2011 - Extended the Saxxy contest deadline to 11:59:59 PM GMT, Friday, May 20th, 2011 - Fixed the third-person camera options dialog not displaying correctly in the Replay performance editor
Thank god, that bug was stopping me from finishing my movie.
I dont know you guys but I love how tf2 stain the promo from the games with his silly and unique style. Just look at the Homefront and the Witcher II it make me laugh very hard.
Hmm, why would they push back the end of the contest?
I'm betting that it's because weapon sets which are supposed to be released at the end of said contest aren't quite ready yet. The leak that tipped us off on stuff like the Villain's Veil also gave Sniper a set based off Lawrence of Arabia, Demoman a set based off One Thousand and One Nights, and the Heavy a set based off (both figuratively and literally) the original Scarface. The TF2 team may have drifted a bit from supplying in-character logic for the wielding of some weapons, but I will be rather disappointed in them if they don't seize the opportunity to explain these as what happens when you try to get a bunch of bloodthirsty madmen involved in what is essentially a Hollywood award ceremony.

Keep up the good work. As for your theory, we can only hope. :ohdear:
Is the aperture hat craftable by the way? Well goddamn
I'm betting that it's because weapon sets which are supposed to be released at the end of said contest aren't quite ready yet.
Up until now, I failed to see a connection between the leaked packs, save for a desert theme. This is a very plausible theory you've brought up. Though I wonder what movie the Dumpster pack could refer to?
I don't get this part from the last update. Where do these screenshots go? By reading this, it DOES NOT sound like the Rendered TGAs from Raw TGAs, but some auto generated screenshot function just from watching a replay. My replays stutter a bit when watching them now, so obviously something is going on in the background, but I don't know where the hell these mysterious pictures are going on my machine. The worst thing will be if in the next update they'll turn into vintage.
Promo items never should have been tradable nor craftable.
Or just disappear.
Promo items never should have been tradable nor craftable.
Why lock out content to a large portion of the player base just because they either didn't want another game, couldn't afford it, or didn't even have a Steam account at the time of release?
Why lock out content to a large portion of the player base just because they either didn't want another game, couldn't afford it, or didn't even have a Steam account at the time of release?
It's a promo for a reason. It's another reason to buy the game. Why do people who didn't pay for it deserve it?
It's a promo for a reason. It's another reason to buy the game. Why do people who didn't pay for it deserve it?
Because it's part of the game they did pay for
Because it's part of the game they did pay for
Fair enough, I suppose.

People can choose whatever hobby they like.
If you don't like Capitalism then go back to Россия.
But Russia is probably more capitalist. It's like the US in the early 1900s, before all the anti-trust legislation.
Here's what I don't understand. I've already had my huge rant about how much I hate the promo items. But that's what they're supposed to be: promotional. "Hey, where did you get that cool bunny hat?!" "You gotta buy Sam and Max, man! It's a pretty cool game." "I might check that out, thanks!" then it became... "Hey, where did you get those cool shoes?" "Well, you're supposed to get them from buying Monday Night Combat. Fuck that, I traded like six hats for these. I'm not made of money." "Oh... well... okay." ...and then... "Woah, what kind of axe is that?" "Hell if I know, you can craft it though." "Oh." And now it's... "Woah, when did the Scout get a sword?" "Beats the hell out of me. It was a random drop." Now this assumes the players aren't reading the forums or the wiki or anything. And to be honest, I doubt most players are. So these items aren't really promoting anything! The promos breaking the artstyle is bad enough, but now they're not even serving their purpose! If the intent is to promote the item, why make it drop and craftable? And why these items? I could understand why if the weapon was any different from the other weapons like the Shogun and Rift items were, but it's just a reskin of the Boston Basher! It doesn't do it's job like this. I guess "Witcher 2" might be in the description of the item somewhere. But besides that, it really isn't promotional anymore. Well if Valve wants to go this route, they should do it for all promotionals. Hell, kill the entire TF2 items economy in one swift blow and make ALL items (except Japan Relief, those are special) craftable. Max Heads, Bills Hat, Earbuds... the idea here is you go all or nothing, Valve. Doing this half and half thing is going to piss the community off. As for the items themselves, they suck. They're ugly. I hate them. But I guess if you're into that kind of stuff they're alright.
How to fix the TF2 hatconomy: All promotionals ever(except those treasure hats and the ones you got from donating things) should be craftable and available through random drops. This will make it so all of these items are available to those who actually want them for "fan" reasons. Numbered crafts will stay, as will genuines. This is important, as it's a reasonable measure of a. I got this through supporting this game and b. making a vague value thing. Unusuals: These will be craftable through the use of enough hats. There are a few things involved in this process though. The recipe would be a certain number of refined, or maybe just a certain number of hats. If one wanted to narrow it down, you could use a class token and more hats. As well, maybe "unusual tokens" could be used for specific effects, as well as being used to change the effect on an existing unusual. Unusuals would not drop randomly, ever, or at least if they did, the chance would be so low it would hardly ever happen. Crating would stay the primary method, but the crafting(still a challenge) would be a decent way to get them. There would also maybe be a way to make a hat into an unusual version, but who knows.
