Here's what I don't understand.
I've already had my huge rant about how much I hate the promo items. But that's what they're supposed to be: promotional.
"Hey, where did you get that cool bunny hat?!"
"You gotta buy Sam and Max, man! It's a pretty cool game."
"I might check that out, thanks!"
Used to be this?
90% of the fuckers who bought that game didn't even play past episode one.
Gastric can vouch for me with this.
They still knew where the hat came from, and that was the point. Also, I would have played through all of it being an old school SCUMM fan and all, except I couldn't and still can't afford it.
where is the phong fix
The content (Meet the Medic, weapons, et cetera) is going to be released with the Saxxy winners. Or, some of it may be released/announced tomorrow.
Might be why they delayed the contest for a day, they're probably going to release something when the entry time ends and it wasn't ready yet.
I don't see any other reason as to why delay it for a day.

I'm pretty sure that there was a bug where entries closed earlier than intended or something. I can't be completely sure, I think someone posted about it in this thread.
where is the phong fix
What's wrong with phong? I thought only GMod had a phong problem? I really don't notice anything weird in TF2's phong.
skunky rant
Please stop, I've tried ranting but it leads to nowhere and people don't listen.

HWM models look like zombies.
How it should have worked:
Genuine versions are always untradeable and cannot be giftwrappable.
However, regular versions of these items are still publicly obtainable.

He said that.
i dont see why genuine versions need to be untradeable. some people weirdly like green text so they'd pay more for it. just like vintage
There wouldn't be an "economy" based around promo items if said promo items weren't made tradable in the first place.

The Mannconomy is controlled by like 100 people who arbitrarily assign values to items. Its very much a new World order.
*puts on tinfoil hat*

They knew where it came from because they had to buy that specific game to get the items, you'd be really stupid if you bought a game without even knowing it's name.
Still, it's lovely that we can craft/find/trade promo items now, it's just sad that people are overpricing them and that you have a very tiny chance to get the hat that you want with a craft/drop.

You couldn't clairfy my point any more. Why exactly did you post this?

because the green versions are the ones obtained for buying the game, durhp
:colbert: Seriously do you think doing shit like that is funny, I really hate troll traders like you lowballing on really good stuff. You really disgust me, it's pathetic how you think offering 2 crates is fair whereas it is really quite unfair. If you're going to offer on something stop trolling and offer something proper, wasting people's time is rather stupid and just makes you look like a dickhead.

3 CRATES?
Man, where do you find all these rare items?
Edit:

So basically now, the n. Genuine items, that you can obtain by CRAFTING and DROPPING are rarer than the Genuine ones, that you can obtain by ONLY PREORDERING?
I fuckin' give up.
Next a gibus is rarer than an Unusual Vintage Genuine Valve community self-created Max hat.
Blowing all ya'll out of the water

Like I said, people get greedier and more retarded with every passing update.
In five years we'll see unusuals go for $100,000 each if it continues to get worse.

Nah. In a year or so, if tf2 is even around dat long, the unusuals will be dead. More and more get unboxed erry day.
Yeah, but you know Valve will make new effects, making the older effects rarer, and worth 50 times more.
I'm just waiting for something like this to happen. Soon after Valve does something like that you'll see Sunbeams Modest Piles going for $10,000. You can count on it.
no-one, im not even kidding, will pay 10k for a hat. people are dumb not THAT DUMB
plus when valve sees that hats are being sold for 10k they'll step in and fix this very very broken economy, where people who cheat the system can get rewarded big while us small folk have to wait for drops just so we can buy some weapons.
yeah, there's a guy who paid 2,000 dollars for one of the only scorching flame kabutos or whatever it was
he said that he was "proud to make one of the most impressive trades of TF2 history"
so excuse me but I think you shouldn't underestimate how dumb people are
(disclaimer: a person is smart. people are dumb. around half of the world's population logically has an IQ inferior to the average.)

He didn't pay $2000. He paid $2000 worth of virtual items. There's a difference, considering he didn't lose actual money in that trade.

did he? oh well
still, if I had been him I'd have sold those for real money instead of trading them for another virtual item which is most likely worth less

I think he thought he was making a profit with the trade. Now Burning Kabuto's only go for about $1000. Still a lot, but nothing compared to what they once went for.

In the STS leak there were a handful of new particles that looked related to unusuals.
However, I don't think they'll phase out old unusuals.
Economically, it just doesn't make sense for hats to be worth so much. Ignoring how "dumb" people are, it would collapse the unusual market. If a Beams Modest was worth $10,000, no one would buy it. The main reason people buy unusuals is to resell them for a higher price. There is risk in this, but you can't lose much now - maybe $150 at most. If it was $10,000, though, you could lose upwards of $1000. No one wants to lose so much over a video game and therefore no one will buy it, leading to reduction of the price to entice buyers.
