Ye Olde Workshoppe - The mighty quest for an epic update
i dont think thats how sheaths work...
That's one of the parts of the concept that is W.I.P., its lifted from an older concept of mine and I have intentions to redesign the sheathe and the archer glove, and then spiff up the hooded cloak some more.
gonna be honest, but you should really change the color of the pants
Couldn't hurt to experiment with it, I'll tinker with a version with normal colored pants in the morning.
If you, or anyone in general, have any suggestions for the design then feel free to suggest them.
Any chance some of the items from the older community-made Medieval Update could receive some attention or consideration? The map from said update could also be added to the current workshop collection, assuming it gets uploaded
I've tried to find all the existing medieval content on the workshop. If you see anything that's missing just send me the links or post them on the workshop collection so I can add them.
Would it be worth trying to design weapons for those classes somewhat left out for medieval?
I'm thinking some things for Engineer: a backpack would be OK lore wise for medieval, but the most agreed stats <+50% metal capacity and pickup> would have no point unless we also added some dumbed downed buildings (However, this isn't impossible to do).
Pyro really needs something else to equip too, the only thing I can think of to match his supposed play style is something to aid flanking - I.E. a mobility tool. A better mind than I will have to suggest something here.
Medic could have a medigun/deployable armour that cannot heal directly, but increases uber build from the crossbow.
If anyone is interested/more ideas just let me know!

Your concepts are getting better, but you really dont need that many folds. Its become a recurring theme in your drawings.

Yeah I struggle to find a balance between too manies and none.

Ballista for Heavy

This ancient concept, reworked, polished, made hopefully better. And to say, I waited a whole year for a moment like this to come, so that this concept can get some love.
The first one is a two piece set, while the second one is an alternative take on the robe.
If someone is interested, it's up for claim.
Ballista for Heavy
Don't know why but I can only envision heavy walking around with a comically oversized Crusaders Crossbow.

For Engineer, a hi-tech Crossbow (hi-tech by medieval standards, at least) would fit even as a Rescue Ranger reskin (it could fire arrows that have nuts and bolts attached to it or something). Engineer seems smart enough to make a crossbow that auto loads new bolts. He'd push medieval tech to the cutting edge.
For Pyro, some kind of ancient Chinese firework secondary? Not European medieval themed, I'm afraid.
For Medic, I've always liked the idea of a dove launcher (crossbow reskin consisting of a cage full of doves mounted on a cannon) that instead of healing or harming a single target, explodes and grants healing over time or debuffs (jarate, bleed and milk) to anyone caught in the bird 'blast' radius. The birds explode when they arrive at their destination because why wouldn't they.

Those arms are going to look horrific.
There's no way bare arms can be modelled over Spys existing sleeves without looking like he has elephantiasis.

I guess that's a way to fix it.
Bit of a personal bias here (I loved studying the play in highschool) but anyone think the costumes from the film adaption of Rozencrants and Guildenstern are Dead would make for good cosmetics?
Some screenshots; different from the ones posted below of course.

The costume is not quite peasants, not quite royalty and definitely not warriors, so it's got niche medieval appeal going for it.. Potential for neat class dynamics, too. Soldier and Demo as Rosenjane and DeGrootenstern. Or is Demo Tavishcrantz and Soldier is Guildoestern?
how the fuck am i gonna finish all these concepts lol

Found some old pics. The guard is shaped like how Excalibur is described in most cases, but I will proibably drop those engravings now I can bump map. The rock is a bit blocky, and I have to check the geometry, but if you are ok with this I'll continue.
By the way I used to call it "Asscalibur" :v:

That doesn't look like any of the rocks in TF2. Go look at those for examples. You shouldn't have all the hard edges, bevel or subdivide all those edges to keep the corners prominent but rounded.

If it helps, it is not a complete rock, but a part that has been ripped from a bigger rock, that's the reason for the flat faces, and also the dents. I guess I could subdivide the edges near the sword to clarify where the natura wear is, and the rest for the ripped-by-force wear.

I'd recommend going into mail_bomber.vmt and changing "$bumpmapalphamask" "1" to "basemapalphaphongmask" "1". This fixes the Dark Age Defender from looking like plastic when you shine a light on it and looks much better.

none of these look or feel like armor plates at all specially when you're straping them around the loose parts of the sniper's pants. if you do want to add some degree of armor to his legs i suggest doing so over the entire model integrating the model's volume into the desing.

Updated it. That does indeed look much better. I've sent a message to SVDL, hopefuly he'll upload a fix.
