I mean it sounds like a great idea and all but the TF2 community has Iron Gauntlet and Mayann workshop project going on right now, so dont you think you should wait after the Iron Gauntlet or Maynn get done first??

And when exactly will IG/mayann get done?

Iron Gauntlet is pretty much done now. Unless Valve decides to pick it up there isn't much more to do with it.
And when exactly will IG/mayann get done?
How do you expect me to know? Im just saying it doesn't sound like a good idea for this to be worked on as of right now when there are 2 other community projects going on.
also my post is number 69 heh kill me.

Ok then all my saying is now wrong, thank you.
It'd probably be good to acknowledge the old medieval update to help inspire people too. It seems the original page was taken down for the new one though

I wanted to revisit the old medieval update page for nostalgia purposes but it's dead :(
I remember some really great Medic stuff like a pair of surgical tongs or some scary looking surgical tool. We could use more actual medical stuff from those times for medic gear instead of the usual knight stuff imo.
Yo compatriots and collaborators, I drew a thing for the thing I don't do stuff much for anymore.

It may be a bit too modern-ish but its suppose to be based off a gamberson, which is essentially an old school training jacket. If anyone wants it hit me up.
Looks like a final fantasy design with all those straps and buckles.
Jesus christ I feel underdressed just looking at it
Looks like a final fantasy design with all those straps and buckles.
Guess I didn't hit the right look then, basically gamberson are strapped up padded jackets.

That's a good job with the belts and buckles, but it needs the quilted pattern on the outside just like you've already done with the inside.

I remember one of the old halloween updates was completely lost as another one was hosted on the same url :(

They were used under the chainmail, so it doesn't get incrusted in your skin basically, and they weight 5 kilos :v:
I approve this. The problem is that the pattern (squares or jisn stripes) is a well-known and common feature of the gambeson and its looks, so without that pattern I don't see the model resembling one that much. I couldn't understand that was supposed to be a gambeson and I have four of them

Up to be claimed.

Texture claimed, just tested compiling it after some time, had to re-learn some things :v:
Also I made some edges near the sword softer on the stone, the ones not man-made
Also don't mind the actual texture, it was just me derping around, and it's easier to look at it than just white.
[t]http://s33.postimg.org/t3zfluc72/Asscalibur_untextured.jpg[/t]
Still for grabs for texturing, just tested compiling it after some time, had to re-learn some things :v:

I was about to reply with "Why the fuck is there a rock on top of a sword?" then I saw your earlier post.
:goodjob:

Do you still need an SFM artist for it? I'd like to make some promos of that!

Sure thing! I'll PM you once we get a texture for this hotty

Yeah, that's perfectly reasonable. TBH the main reason I avoided doing a quilted pattern on the outside is just effort and polycount, I thought both would be too much. Comments in mind I'll probably do a second draft today as well as another idea I had. Also mad jealous on the gamberson, I've always wanted one :v:
Just paint the pattern and use a normal map, You'll get the same effect as if it was geometry.
Just paint the pattern and use a normal map, You'll get the same effect as if it was geometry.
Obviously, I meant more so the actual act of essentially putting a second skin on top of the soldiers existing model. It's been done a lot but it is a polyhog. Either way I'm more just pitching in for fun, I doubt I'm going to personally model anything.

Anyway, there's the new one. Maybe too many quilts but that's a super easy thing to fix in model.
Any volunteers for drawing a few concepts of a capture the flag intel loot bag? The idea is to have a bag made from cloth, tied up with a rope, filled with golden coins and other loot, with a little hole in it so we can apply a dropping coin particle effect.

Something like this?
poor art skills aside, anyway.
Hey, just wanted to say the Philadelphia Museum of Art has a pretty neat exhibit on this kind of stuff, if it helps with anything.
