Steel and Snowplow aren't hard to grasp if you're willing to spend 5 minutes learning the map. Problem is, TF2 is already so "jump in and play" that everything is expected to be that way.
It took me ten seconds to understand the map after watching through spectator mode. Hell, even cp_steel was easy to understand too.
Ok, then feel free to tell me how much time is actually left to play here: [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/446204101978158686/D54116ECDF9D30E598D3D72581C0D38550C4860D/[/t] You can't without doing mental math. That's a fundamental problem.
To be fair, Snowplow gives off an incredibly Payload-like vibe when you first play on it. I just played it for the first time yesterday and for a few minutes I was confused because there were CPs, a Payload-like giant moving cart, and a healthbar reminiscent of MVM tanks, which are all incredibly different objectives. Also doesn't help that the map is so tightly corridor-ed and small in general that there's no big shot to get the full idea of the map like, say, Doublecross, or any 5CP map. That being said, it's an okay map, but nothing too special. Just an A/D map with a weird time limit gimmick. I think people overreacted a bit too much when it was left out after playing it, honestly. Also, Powerhouse is honestly pretty fun, and it helps that it's the first map in a long time to give off a Hydro vibe, both with the aesthetics used and the whole crazy "everybody throwing themselves at eachother because the map is so small but the game can end so fast" playstyle.
I was playing on Snowplow yesterday in a server full of regulars, and people kept saying "god dammit I went the wrong way again" and "wow Engie is trash on this map". The general consensus was that it gave relatively little time to cap points, yet it was way too hard to defend. Just before we changed map one guy said "I guess Valve didn't really want to add it, not because it's confusing, but because it's honestly kinda shit" :v: I wouldn't say it's that awful, I prefer playing a map that's easier to attack than playing turtlefort. But I think it could definitely benefit from being turned into a Payload map.
I don't think everyone actually cared about the map, it was just that "x is too confusing for new players" was a "funny meme"

So, I caved in, bought a Gun Mettle thing, and decided to swallow my pride and get the contracts on other servers since the two I usually main are empty in the morning. Completed my first Contract, and got this cool thing. [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/687146634897047335/2A3F50A8DC679AE226A075A1E0704D35C754F89A/[/t] Then I saw some shmup with ugly-ass unusuals and an Australiam F-a-N (this was a later screenshot cause I didn't take one of him as Scout before he switchd). [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/687146634897051118/8AE057C9DAE135A338F88E18D47D72533D8D352D/[/t] So, I did what I had to, and it felt good. Also the Australiam FaN was cool. [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/687146634897021876/C1B46BD3B2389B4267697C4997A915647105E215/[/t] Over-all, it's pretty fun, and a brilliant way to keep interest in the game. I just wish the contracts were more commonly updated, even if it meant they didn't immediately unlock skins/cases after completion [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/687146634897035203/D17099288EA01FB07F58E6D8504E40E08BBECEAC/[/t] Also this was a pretty good screenshot.
Super guide to snowplow! BLU: capture control points to destroy the trap that slowly kills off the train health and block its path RED: defend the control points, the timer at the top represents how much time is left before the trap activates butchering down 10% of the train health if train is 0%, train is kill if train is > 0, and blu captures all points, win win
First Gun-Mettle crate unboxed and I got this: [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/441700499323478091/A4E28DADDC719C5D1AB31953E8451D1667329274/[/t] I think I just got my ticket, key and crate money back! [sp]I was aiming for the Flash Fryer[/sp]

Also, is Factory New considered the rarest weapon status, or the least rare? I've not been sure which, and it'd make sense for it to be the rarest.

Snowplow isnt hard to grasp. Other maps are oversimplified objetives, wich is why it seems like its hard to deal with. Same happens when my Server runs HAARP, confusión is natural when people deals with a new set of rules but as soon as you explain others and everyone gets it, no one has issues with it. As much as one can argue that snowplow suffers from several issues desing wise, it went for something off the book with the bare resources people had. And that is something you can always enjoy.

Woo! Bought a ticket, completed three contracts, managed to get the two skins I really wanted and made my money back by selling a case! What a time to be alive. On another note, has anybody experienced certain objects not loading? Suijin is really bad at this with whole bridges not showing up but even Borneo has missing objects. Any ideas as to what's going on?
Has been reported by several people. Still waiting for a fix.(although it seems its more of a local issue than the map itself.never had that problem with either map)
It's because the custom content for Borneo/Suijin is packed into the .bsp instead of being released separately. But custom content packed into a map can break sometimes (often)
It's because the custom content for Borneo/Suijin is packed into the .bsp instead of being released separately. But custom content packed into a map can break sometimes (often)
isn't that the case for alot of cs go maps too
Factory new is the rarest and most expensive status
Sweet, my two weapons have been Factory New and the one rank below it. Also got that Factory New Lemon Pop Minigun for not even $2.
Don't do this, the bots' hitboxes on tr_walkway are really messed up.
There's supposed to be a button in the spawn of tr_walkway for Headshot Training. It rotates the bots' bodies so that the head matches with the hitbox.

I learnt that from CS:GO at least, where Minimal Wear is always about £2 cheaper than the Factory New counterpart (Or in TF2's case - £2-£4 cheaper).
What a joke, I put a Gun Mettle Pass on the Market, canceled it, now I can't even refund this.
What a joke, I put a Gun Mettle Pass on the Market, canceled it, now I can't even refund this.
what do you mean?
What a joke, I put a Gun Mettle Pass on the Market, canceled it, now I can't even refund this.
Why would you try to put it on the market? It's untradable, that means unmarketable as well.
Is it me only or the decorated weapons don't show at the loadout? This has been happening for like two days now. Not only that but once you apply one decorated weapon in your loadout, the names on items stop showing.
Why would you try to put it on the market? It's untradable, that means unmarketable as well.
Are you sure about that? [editline]7th July 2015[/editline] Is anyone else having issues with the skins not loading at all? Just sold my Medigun and bought a Minimal Wear Flash Fryer and it refuses to load the preview image, or the skin itself in-game. It never loads the icon in either the backpack (I can't move it because of this) or loadout (left with a TF loading logo); in-game it appears as a normal weapon (skin does not appear) and the description for it is half way across my screen, while other weapon descriptions are properly shown below the icon.
Try verifying integrity?
How big exactly, is the TF2 dev team at this point?
I'd hardly call snowplow a new gamemode, it's basically just a 5 minute A/D map that feels a little smaller than Doublecross. I kinda wish it had been more like the tanks in MvM and a bit longer scale wise, because the gameplay becomes really boring or repetitive after the first round. A slow steadily moving target would at least force progression, but then again I guess that would take map control out of the players hands and Valve apparently dislikes that idea.
When I first got on the map(the train was on our last point), I thought it was like cp+payload. That would have been neat. You escort the cart to each point, then have to capture it. I thought the cart had health or something, so if it sat on a point too long it lost all its health and the round was over. I like the idea of a weapon going through a lot of combat. I like at least a little wear and tear.
