Is there a way to bind fastforward to a key so that it plays the demo really fast when you hold the button but returns to normal when you let go?
I think my friend did that once, I'll ask him later if that's what he had
But you could just bind a key with an alias that makes the demo go faster, then simultaneously rebinds it to play slower the next time you press it and repeat
If it's a console command you can bind it to toggle
for example
bind mouse3 "toggle demo_speed 0 1"
It's how I'm able to toggle my viewmodels off and back on (bind mouse3 "toggle r_drawviewmodel 0 1")
I haven't played this in a long time and I was never an avid player to begin with, so I'm way late on this but: I just watched Expiration Date, and while it was enjoyable, did anyone else think the Soldier seemed not just strange, but outright autistic? I always preferred to think of him as an unhinged warmonger playing 'army man' as if it were a game. I preferred his role in End of the Line where he acted as the de-facto commander of each team, even though it's fan made.
Truth be told, there are several Team Fortress characters displaying very different personalities between the game proper and the extra materials like the comics, for better or worse
For example, in the comic series (and in Poker Night at the Inventory, for that matter), the Heavy is portrayed as a very cunning man (he has a PhD in Russian literature too) and is also shown to fake stupidity (here). He's also rather stoic (but he has his moments)
It's hard to ever get a hint of all of this in the game proper
Also, I'm starting to think that whoever writes the Valve comics seems to think that an eccentric character equals a brain-damaged jester (I don't know how many of you are also into Dota 2, but the last comic there pictures Crystal Maiden, known as a bit gullible and easy going sorceress, into a total lunatic)
well yes
but that's an issue with the player, not the class
jhonny_teh_epic_2001 would be a terrible heavy or soldier too
a little late but at the same time it seems all the new players flock to sniper, sure you've got the fact that heavy and soldier are easy because they're tanks but the kids are too focused on looking cool with sniper to do that
(i really didnt know how to word this, i hope my point comes across D:)

Agreed, but I'd also like to add that even Scout is a popular starting class, since you don't need much gamesense with just running away from danger and picking lone players. Aiming with the scattergun is not easy, though, so those guys are usually just cannon fodder.
I remember trying Soldier and Heavy early and just getting killed all the time, because I couldn't aim for shit and kept overextending and focused by groups of enemies.

The comics also state why soldier is the way he is, suffering from poisoning.

The main problem people have with the soldier is that in the comics he's basically a loveable loon fixated on war and army procedures
In Expiration Date, you may wonder why the whole crew didn't lock him up into an asylum yet
Because most 'em would have to lock themselves there with him.
I miss grumpy war vet Soldier.
I miss grumpy war vet Soldier.
I always thought the Soldier was an interesting character. Stuck in the past and war obsessed, shaped by the propoganda and sentiment of the time, to the point where he was a little messed up and the only work he could do was mercenary work. His description with the whole self created nazi killing spree is hilarious.
Sadly, it feels like Valve removed a lot of interestingness and depth from the Soldier for a couple cheap laughs to the point where hes a brain damaged, cringeworthy retard
TLDR: Im a soldier main and I need character depth for my hat based shooter game
He was portrayed fairly well two halloweens ago, during the fifth scream fortress. He wasn't doofus random, but a phony who believes he's serious. Granted they still played on the idea he isn't bright, he certainly wasnt a comic relief.
I miss grumpy war vet Soldier.
i miss not ever seeing his face except with funny-angled deathcams
i miss not ever seeing his face except with funny-angled deathcams
That's pretty much the reason why I want a hatless hat for him like the Hair fixative for Sniper and the Texas Slim dome for Engie.
i miss not ever seeing his face except with funny-angled deathcams
people mentioning you could see his face if you paused meet the soldier at the right moment.
good times.
To be fair they still keep his face concealed in the shorts. Even in the comics he's got his hat on more than it is of
thats because thats part of his character and desing.
it being removable by certain cosmetics is as canon as the pyro having removable "heads".

Cosmetics are canon, they just aren't featured in the shorts or comics because they add nothing to the characters or their expository backgrounds. They're there because cosmetics are fun.
If we're going strictly by what's in shorts or comics, then Sappers are supposed to be throwable and bread monsters are legit instead of just reskins.

heavy removes his belt, scout removes his dogtags, headset and even hat frequently. hell engineer ditched his hardhat and grew a full caveman beard and hairdo. demo got fat and everything, but soldier kept his helmet on.

Except for the Tin Soldier set in Shadow Boxers being a major part of/reason to move the story.
So I had to redownload windows 7 to my computer and now tf2 just won't start up. I've verified the cache and all, I just can't figure out what to do. I've tried running steam as an administrator, disabled background programs and everything. There's just something I can't remember I need to do. Anyone know what it is?

Here is something you can try (mostlikly won't work, but it might be able to tell you the error is if you do this).
Go to the TF2 install directory (Default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2), and create a bat file with this in it:
hl2.exe -game tf -console -sw -condebug
Run that bat, and then the game should open. If it crashes again, check the file console.log in the tf subfolder. The answer might be in there.
My game feels weird lately. When there aren't much people it's perfectly fine but when there are more people I feel like the whole game is slightly delayed. It feels like my fps are dropping but they are always above 100. Someone else from my friend list feels the same. Were there any changes in the last patches which could cause this?

are you referring to screen tearing?

I dont see a console.log in my tf folder

No, it just feels like my fps drop to something around 30-60, it feels unprecise and like everything is a bit delayed. The fps counters always show more than 100 fps so I was wondering what could cause this. It started some days ago.

I'm playing with chris maxframes on directx 8

A very likely cause might be your PC overheating. Try setting a fps_max. Something like 80?
I joined a trade server back on Monday and everyone became a truck, while the admin on that server is a chopper.
Killstreaks should keep track of the highest killstreak achieved, similar to how strange parts work. It'd make them a bit more useful for putting on unique items such as ones without a strange variant yet.
Is it possible to make Dustbowl better by widening its pathways on stage 3 or more?
It is not possible to fix Dustbowl.
