Is tf2center worth giving a try? I used to comp a little really long ago but the scrims took place at the most unfitting moments.
Don't think for a moment it's actual competitive experience. It's basically pubs in competitive format. Nobody follows meta or standards. The skill differences by player are insane. You'll see people at my division of play (gold/plat) exploiting against the players who have never done comp in their life and don't contribute to the metagame. Usually becomes a one sided shitstomp fest with some high level player fucking around as an offclass. If you want a more fair fight or intro to competitive, I suggest you talk to friends or try to get rostered as a backup for an Iron/Steel team. Play inhouse pugs with them. Iron is entry level. Steel is slightly above. I actually started out steel--and more recently put together an Iron team for my community--so I still interact and work with lower divs on occasion.
Also are you looking to try out 6s or HL?
Preferably 6v6, because HL feels a little too chaotic.
Iron is entry level. Leaders with poor priorities, or catering to "friends" too much. The teams don't learn, improve, play roles, and ultimately fail. Your best bet is to find a team that has a higher division mentor from gold+. They usually will help with strategy and team cohesion. higher div teams have their own problems. Like having people not show up late. Not a single HL game started within an hour of schedule time.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/b8jXozl.jpg[/t] When I was younger I idled a ton, hell I didn't even play TF2. I just sat in idle/achievement servers killing idle players, it wasn't until 2012 I actually started going to regular servers. [sp] I regret not going into servers till then.[/sp]
had to reset my skills also. shame we never got a chance to reset individual stats.
Had a good idea for a spray and then remembered I have zero skill in photoshop. Anyone want to help a poor bloke out?
My stats only count 777/3562 hours and shows 289 hours as spy, i estimate i have anywhere between 1,000-1,500 hours as spy but ill never find out for real :(
so someone offered me tf logo chieftain's for my strange gunslinger y/n? [editline]22nd March 2015[/editline] level 100 and halloween spells attached
looks like you did it anyway
i wanted to get rid of that anyway
i wanted to get rid of that anyway
Well if you wanted to get rid of it, you should have just told me. I would have gladly unloaded that burden off your shoulders.
I joined a Valve server yesterday with a friend and apparently it was "comp players play pubs" night or something because both teams had a bunch of comp players on them. They were going so far as to call out damage and whatnot. It all felt a bit odd really.
After playing a bit Mannpower I gotta say it's fairly decent now. While Sentries, terrible maps (except thundermountain) , Upgrades and their availabilty to just joining players and it being Capture the flag is still a problem, I had a fun hour. Especially with the B.A.S.E Jumper and the Air Strike ; If you have the Jumper active, and "grapple jump", it'll not remove parachute, means you'll still be sliding arround, but getting height. You can even grapple down and just jump and you'll gain height. And if you Rocket Jump, then Base, and then do the grapple jump stuff it'll still count as a rocket jump, means you'll get the extra firerate almost permanently if you can grapple well enough!
What do I use to open the game with an altered items_game.txt again? I've been using the items editor and can't find the command
i went and unboxed a bunch #92 crates. So far I had got Apoco-fists twice, buff banner, dalokosh twice, red tape recorder, candy cane and wrangler (yes this much because fuck money) AND THEN THIS HAPPENED [t]http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/29611553204663662/2CF2C4F6AD63B3B7A96B8CA204F19C234086E8FB/[/t] YES
Whats the price for Krits nowadays? I cant really check at the moment
I opened 10 crates. 3 candy canes, 2 warrior's spirits, 2 RTRs, 1 C&D and 1 Apocofist. Why do I keep doing this. :suicide:
Whats the price for Krits nowadays? I cant really check at the moment
20 keys
20 keys
..and falling. Even though the Kritzkrieg V2 is still a rare unbox, it's dropping faster than I thought...
who gives a shit anyway. having a strange version is nice.
Never played Engie in Mannpower, just faced a bunch of enemy ones - to me it seems like Sentries are actually less effective here compared to normal gamemodes, what with not gaining any buffs from the Engie himself (apart from faster swing speed with Haste or the faster weapon switching with Agility) and being faced with building-demolishing stuff like Soldiers, Demos, Heavies and Scouts with Strength, Warlock, Haste or Precision... Or am I missing something, I'm pretty sure Sentries get no direct buffs from their owner's powerup, they just benefit from faster repair rate (Haste) or faster switching between secondaries, primaries and your Wrench (Agility), but it doesn't really seem enough to help them survive for long? Sure, like almost any CTF round on a Valve server, I've had plenty of Mannpower games where there's 4+ Engies on each side determined to camp it out for days (so there's often not enough people on either team to push in a semi-coordinated way), but with the powerful buffs on certain classes I've had cases where one or two guys with the right class/power combos can just plow through a bunch of sentries quite easily, even without the help of a medic.
So my brother found an Australium Grenade Launcher. On his 6th tour. Blackavar: oh my god how did you react Rusty Gold: why would i buy 40 dollars of pixels? Rusty Gold: i was screaming Rusty Gold: literally Rusty Gold: i think i almost had an epilepsy Blackavar: lol
What would you guys think of a 24-hour livestream going towards competitive 100% of cash donations, along with the majority of item donations (cheaper items go towards raffles during events / the stream itself) go directly towards sponsoring competitive events, teams, etc. Items would be mainly converted to cash, of course, but maybe a few items could be used as event prizes (along with cash) for a bit of variance
Would be nice. Comp tf2 doesn't get a lot of love. UGC has no prize pools. Teams have to cover their own hosting. Hell, the only league that even has prize pools is ESEA and that's only for the invite LAN. And at that I think the pool covers travel costs for the winning team maybe? Either one can clear out guns. If there's more than one gun in the same sightline then Knockout needs uber powerup. Usually only a problem on foundry though. I've had teams of like 7 engies all with level 3s before just to spite me. With Knockout and grapple lunging, a single uber powerup is enough to clear all of them
ETF2L had prizes for Premiership and Division 1 when the round-robin format was still used, aswell. On Season 19, every division had playoffs and the winners of those got prizes, the lower divs only got items though. The winners of the group phase still got their medals, since the playoff announcement was only made late into the Season for some reason - no one outside Prem saw them coming iirc. On the current Season 20, 3.427€ was raised for prize pools supposedly for Prem, High and Mid tiers, but the homepage says that teams in every tier have a chance to win prizes, so I'm not entirely sure whether Open gets prizes or not this time.
Here's my question regarding comp TF2. Why do we need so many god damn medals? Nobody ever wears the bloody things, and all they do is add more files that we need to download. Valve could've done something similar to the Dota 2 "pin" items with the league medals that you can display on your profile, or even done a "Medals" section of your Steam profile where all your competitive medals are listed. Yeah, my views are probably a tad negative, but come on. Profile adornments would've been a better route than ingame items in my opinion.

DotA handles it better, from what I've heard.
