Back when tournament medals were introduced, they were the first in this "play-comp-and-get-a-cool-item" kind of thing, and since then [B]everyone[/B] wants one and the ones responsible for prize distribution don't give a shit. In fact, the shit that is given is so little, medals usually take forever to arrive to your backpack.
So yes, it's the dumbest thing ever. Some people still play comp solely for the medals, though, which is sad.
I don't know how DOTA2 handles it, but it can't be worse (nor slower - I am STILL to receive my UGC medal from last season :v: ).

Buds aren't a currency anymore. At least they can't be when their prices fluctuate like crazy over fucking nothing. Keys are the only cash standard we have anymore.

And buds are falling in price. About 3 weeks ago, they were 15-17 keys. Today? 10.
Keys are the only currency anymore. They keep rising.

I won't argue that we have too many medals. We could do with less.
I do wear my medal though. Probably only because it's gold though. I never was fond of wearing my steel/silver ones.

He got an aussie scattergun and I'm still not sure what to think :v:
I dream of an Aussie Ambassador but I'm put off by the ridiculous amount of tours some people do before getting one. Damn.

When I did my very first Expert tour, I got a Diamond Wrench.
6 tours in with 2 cities and nothing.
I had to buy my Austrailium Sniper Rifle outright.

For 2cities I didn't get my first australium until Tour 56.
my first "rare" loot was a Gold Botkiller Minigun mk ll at tour 17 of Mecha engine.
All I can say is, don't play mvm just for the rare loot, otherwise you're probably gonna be in for a tough time, like with unboxing crates.

I'm noticing a trend
The autoplay made me join "The Furry Pound" server. "Oh, god" I thought, but it was actually pretty alright there. There were some people that were pretty good at the game but they were engineer or medic so there weren't any soldier/demo stomps that you see on Valve servers. There were some new players and lots of people on mics giving them tips and stuff, not even obnoxiously.
It was really nice.

I'm not into furry culture, but I ended up joining a friend on one of their servers once or twice. I agree, the communities are very nice and the people friendly. Gameplay is fair, too. I bookmarked a few of them way back when.
