Because competent players can get the most of a map layout like hydro.
Hydro is an actual example of the "too confusing to new players" meme :v:
Yeah, even with all the arrows plastered all over it I still manage to get lost on Hydro after >1000 hour in the game.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Finally MvM has really come through for me!
[editline]8th May 2015[/editline]
Of course it came through for me AFTER I bought a Strange Professional Killstreak Jag, but still.
I noticed that TF2 is close to reaching it's 500th update.
I wonder if Valve is going to do something special for it like how they did for the 119th update.
My favorite part about getting spawn camped and rolled is the reaction the enemy team gives me next round when I go beggars soldier.
It's like you're a dick, i'm a dick back and now i'm the asshole?
I regret nothing, we won lol
Is Beggars broken now or..?
Last I played I don't remember it being anything terribly broken or something

I wouldn't say the Beggar's is broken, but I would say that it's a hilarious hurricane of pain once you get into the rhythm. Might just be a pub thing, but that thing can be a game changer simply because they aren't expecting a thousand goddamn rockets in their face.
it's barely about the barrage. more about the infinite shooting.
thankfully not many players abuse it. blackbox's too tempting apparently

Not to mention the bottomless clip. You're not limited to a number of rockets when just tapping M1 like the default one.
Does anybody have a download link to TF2DJ? The one in the original thread is broken.
So I tried Splatoon and it was really fun Cartoony shooter to go with TF2 and such. I can't wait for the full release with hat and sweater customization :V
Also, My final match in the hour long period was Pink as Hell and Lime Green. The exact same shade as the TF2 hats. And I must say, As a brave trooper of Pink, We beat them Limey's 80% to 20%
Forever shall it be known that Pink is better then Lime
Jesus fucking Christ... it's one thing to be an asshole but to be an asshole over something you're flat-out wrong about sends my blood pressure through the fucking roof.
I have been thinking about this lately, but did anyone think of a cp_upward yet?

Mirroring the map at the tiny bridge seems pretty nice if you ask me, just a thought which flew through my head.
Hey guys, my windows 7 computer recently randomly died on me so I'm going to borrow an old XP. Will this be enough to run TF2?

Need more info than that.

TF2 can run on a toaster with the right mods
Is anyone else experiencing the bug with the red tape recorder viewmodel where it just dissapears for a half second when the animation loops?
Don't wanna email eric for something which is only on my side!

Tried HLDJ? It's practically the same.

XP alone - yes.
Hardware - need more info here.

WAY too big for a CP map.

No it absolutely can't.

If you're prepared for the (potential) crashes and console spam about deprecated commands (or commands requiring sv_cheats), Chris' Configs can allow TF2 to run on a toaster but don't expect fantastic FPS...
I have a really, really old laptop (Celeron, no dedicated GPU and 1Gb of RAM) and it manages to get 17 FPS on Achievement Idle with Chris' Max Frames. Without the config, TF2 flat out refused to load. I used to use this laptop to idle back when there was no item cap (let it idle overnight, close the lid and it'd rake in items for me. A hat a night) but now, it's taking up space.

Upward isn't really built with reverse order in mind.
It's designed with the flow of players going in a singular direction, if the flow of play goes the other way you'll run into problems where there's disproportionate amounts of cover for the now-attackers because the map intends that position to be defensive.
Finished Tour 15, no australiums yet. Standard Killstreak and Spec Killstreak fab. A Tour 2 gets an Australium Minigun. A Tour 7 gets an Australium Rocket Launcher. Fuck dis gay earth. All I want is a shiny gun :(

I'm on my 76th tour and the only good loot I've got is a professional grenade launcher fabricator, but that was ages ago.
A friend of mine got five aussies and he's tour 74. If I was in it purely for the "reward", I probably would've quit by now.

Mhm, you are right. Expected it to be kinda flawed. Thanks.
I just never saw a cp map with a constant cliff and would love one to exist. Or maybe there is one already?

As far as a map transitioning modes goes, there are only so many jumps that can be safely made.
5CP can be trimmed down to KOTH
Attack/Defend can be transformed into Payload
Payload can be transformed into Attack/Defend
The only other transitions that can be safely made are based on unofficial and modified game modes. So Attack/Defend CTF, like the original Dustbowl back in TFC, could be transformed into either Attack/Defense or Payload.
The big thing to note is that game modes dictate player flow, even without any layout changes. A payload map, for instance, would force players down a particular path, even if it is inherently more risky to do so. This is the case in Upward's second point, where the close-corridors in the mine are substantially more stressful to push through. This usually results in players taking the top first, and then focusing some people on the cart while they make their pushes from the high-ground. If that cart weren't there, few would go on the suicidal mission into the mines.
That's the nice thing about control points, and payloads (which are moving control points). The mapper can decide just how much at risk players will be placing themselves in order to complete the objectives, even if it's piecemeal. CTF on the other hand, only has 2 important places that players will need to go to: the enemy flag and their own flag. The open-ended nature of the mode and its derivatives means that a map creator would need to funnel people into certain focal points in order to control any semblance of flow. That's a tricky thing to do, which is why we see so many payload and capture point maps -- they control flow, and they do it well.
Payload Race and 5CP maps are probably interchangable as well.
Payload Race and 5CP maps are probably interchangable as well.
They aren't. They don't even have similar layouts.

HLDJ only works on servers with the right cvars, TF2DJ works on any sweet because it works through Virtual Audio Cable and not the Source engine itself

From what I remember, could just use Mixcraft, link the VAC to it and toggle the mic on.
I used to do that so I could auto-tune my voice on the mic on the fly (could also add a backing song if I wanted).
It'll be easier to get TF2DJ however.

Chris' config is outdated since it hasn't been updated since before mat_phong was introduced. Use Rhapsody's performance config instead.
