Guys GUYS I'm making another one of those snarky comics concerning slight annoyances in the game. Same deal as before, rate whatever to have your username in the comic! Five winners will be randomly chosen. Your alternate universe variations will enter. Only Los Angeles officer Jet Li will win. The only downside is that since I'm already done with the posing and whatnot, you don't get to choose your fav class and item set. On the upside, your username will be forever memorialized in a digital comic until a group of apocalyptic bandits need to harvest the world's servers to fuel their lust for technology. Raffle winners will be announced when the comic is done and out, which hopefully will be tomorrow. I also posted this in the TF2 Media thread, so duplicate entrees won't count.
if an engineer is in the comic, i call the engie (if i win)
I haven't posted in this subforum since like 2011 or so (first came here in 2010) but I was just posting here since you all may find it interesting Well I'm working on this personal project titled, "Before there were hats: The ongoing history of Team Fortress", right now I'm just going around gathering as much information as I can and throwing it all into a word document along with taking notes on paper, eventually I'll make it all into an hour long or so video with voiceover included detailing TF throughout the years, from 1999 all the way until now, 2015 It'll basically gloss over the major changes TF has gone through and the cool/interesting things that the community has done/come up with throughout TF (I'm talking the days of OMFGNinja, Xanatos, Evildaedalus, the whole idling program scandal with the halo hats etc)
Still steadily working on this but whipped up a trailer for it. How the hell are people doing the conga really fast whilst being able to kill?
How the hell are people doing the conga really fast whilst being able to kill?
Taunt glitch. You need to be doing a "Hold" taunt during the end-round, and if you get balanced/scrambled to the other team your character will be stuck in that taunt animation.
How the hell are people doing the conga really fast whilst being able to kill?
It's a bug. When you do certain taunts right after winning a battle and you continue to taunt during the restart of the round, your character can get stuck in the taunt pose. Pretty annoying when you want to taunt with somebody, but all you can see is your character doing the conga while being headbutted by a heavy.
What ridiculous metal price are keys up to now?
What ridiculous metal price are keys up to now?
19 ref prices are up to 17-21 ref since the buds for pure removal.
19 ref prices are up to 17-21 ref since the buds for pure removal.
Goodness. I remember when I said "They'll reach 10 eventually", thank you. Makes me wonder that if at some point metal just won't be accepted for trading period.
Goodness. I remember when I said "They'll reach 10 eventually", thank you. Makes me wonder that if at some point metal just won't be accepted for trading period.
Metal is still the best currency to acquire regular cosmetics.
Valve noted players disliked having to sit and wait their turn to play again after dying, and decided to abandon the gamemode after it wasn't popular enough. Funny thing is Arena:Respawn fixed majority of that issue, to the point even valve gave them a shoutout. Regardless they didn't feel like making it official so they didn't
I remember those guys. I saw the head devs for Arena:Respawn get their asses handed to them by some guy on Reddit because they were saying that the open-source project "Arena: Resurrection" was stolen code from them and even called the SourceMod community thieves. The hilarious thing of it all was that Arena: Respawn wasn't even released at the time so no code was stolen. It was simply an open-source version of the plugin that got them riled up. Needless to say it was communicated to Valve and that is probably why they never made Arena: Respawn a thing. You can read all the juicy drama bits in that sourcemod thread I linked. The Arena: Respawn Team went back and deleted their shameful comments on Reddit so that part is missing, but there's enough left over to have a laugh :V
Metal is still the best currency to acquire regular cosmetics.
The value of it would probably level out more of the recipe used one less metal though. Not to mention with craft numbers its essential.
What ridiculous metal price are keys up to now?

If only Sai was here to watch this moment.
I quoted you when it happened, you missed all the fun, now you are late for the party.
I quoted you when it happened, you missed all the fun, now you are late for the party.
I came back to ask this question. I'll return when its up to 30. Edit: Wait how the hell did it go from keys being 20 Refined and then discussing my title.
People make a huge deal out of item 'prices'. I feel that I am the only player with unusuals who hates the whole economy idea. Why constantly change an item's price just because it gets sold for a bit more/less etc.

So, is the whole A:R project dead in the water now due to some Reddit drama or? Would be a shame, I liked that thing when I played it for a few weeks and one of the devs seemed like a pretty cool, polite guy on an actual server.

You need to be doing a "Hold" taunt during the end-round, and if you get balanced/scrambled to the other team your character will be stuck in that taunt animation.
Not just a 'Hold' Taunts. Almost any equipable taunt works to some degree. If you do the taunt before the next round starts, you'll be running around in the taunt pose (so, Rancho's will float around without a chair etc) - doesn't matter about balance or team scramble. Interestingly, you won't notice it yourself either (unlike the Civi glitch where you would snap back to the civi position once the taunt ended) as you'll just go back into the idle animation but everyone around you will notice it. The ones I know of working are: - The Rancho - Square Dance - High Five - Conga (hence the "not just any hold taunt since this isn't one) - The Flippin' Awesome
I feel that I am the only player with unusuals who hates the whole economy idea.
You can't be, I'm sitting a treasure pile of keys at the moment for the same reason. :v:

Can we start a Mann vs Machine shitlist thread? It's so annoying to HAVE TO waste either 4 minutes or an entire wave on one person before being able to kick them. At least having a big list of losers in one place lets you know what you're in for ahead of time.
Haven't been around here in ages, raises a question that might've been asked before -- what's folks opinion on Star? Primarily as a Youtuber known prominently through TF2, but also secondarily as a player. Can't help but feel that a decent chunk of the game's continuing popularity goes to the people making content with it. Not saying Star's the be-all, end-all master of the Youtube part, but he's one of them (or was, recently not so much). Then there's Shibby, Jerma, iunno, does Salamander have his own channel? I'd say Stabby but his uploads are really really infrequent.

I've recently subbed to Mr.Paladin, He mains Spy but not every single video is of spy. To be honest it seems not a lot of people are doing TF2 as much as they used to.
I played TF2 and found out about STAR_ from there, then Jerma from STAR_, then Tagg and Sean and all the budsquad. They don't play much TF2 anymore and I understand, but I still love watching their videos for what they are, TF2 was just how my attention was brought to those people.
I wonder what the TF2 team is doing right now. This game is as dry as a fallen twig it needs something new so people actually play it again. I think my only regret about TF2 is not being able to play it sooner back in 2008 I bet I would be way more into the game now.

Seems like he did/does stuff because he enjoys it, not because he wants to maintain popularity or gain it. That's probably why it's worked so well for him, he's relatable enough you want to see what else he thinks of doing for fun. A lot of new players i've met know who star is, and i thought that was interesting because i had always assumed newer players werent too familiar with the youtuber side of the game. Nowadays the only prominent tf2 youtuber i can think of that reaches anywhere near star or jermas level is muselk, and personally he seems like every other youtuber to me. charismatic, yes. innovative or unique, eh. It's kinda petty to judge like that especially since i don't watch him, but i feel like muselk was one of those cases where nobody else was making frequent TF2 content, people saw muselk and he became a hit. No buildup of popularity, not outstanding performances, people just wanted someone to enjoy and muselk was around at the right place at the right time.

I see no reason to come back to this game, aside from playing for 1-2 hours, after that, there's nothing left.

For me, the biggest difference is that distinction between a video made for fun and one made for the masses. As soon as Muselk apparently ditched his law degree to youtube full-time, that was it for me. I'll always prefer infrequent videos made with love than constant "content". Sorry, this sort of thing bugs me constantly, I see it happening all over.
I find jerma to be overly annoying, I prefer star
