Or the artist needed reference for several hat types and figured the TF2 style would be a good fit for the comic.
HIGHLIGHT OF VISITING VALVE:
Today Gabe Newell walked into the lobby for Valve, to which I awkwardly stammered, "ohhhhhhhh". He looked at me, and then walked up to my brother who was looking at TF2 paintings. He turned around and instinctively treated Newell as a superior in the army, saying, "GOOD AFTERNOON, SIR." Gabe smiled and chuckled and went downstairs.
Valve is pretty cool. The receptionist wanted to make sure my brother was able to take the tour despite every obstacle being in her way. My brother is training at Fort Lewis, is a huge TF2 fan, and it was my last day in Washington before driving all the way back to Vegas, so she tracked down someone to give us a tour immediately!
If you guys are cool with it I'll share some more details about my visit when I get home including pictures.

Changed increased drain rate to a decreased drain rate. Overall duration of invisibility is still 7 seconds when accounting for initial spend of 50 cloak meter for triggering Feign Death
Decreased cloak regen rate from +80% to +50%
When Feign Death is triggered, the Spy receives a 3 second speed boost
Initial attack that triggers feign death has its damage reduced by 50%
Damage resistance on triggering feign death scales over time. 65% to 20% over 3 seconds
Feign Death stealth has no bump shimmer for 3 seconds
3 seconds after triggering Feign Death, the Spy is under normal invisible conditions (20% armor and shimmers if bumped or shot)
Can no longer pick up ammo for cloak meter while cloaked
Finally, I can pretend I'm good at CS:GO now.
Today I learned sentry guns had inherent resistance to minigun bullets.

Has anyone been getting random crashes to desktop without any error messages? I've tried playing TF2 three times today and all three times it crashed. I haven't played in a few months so I dunno if this is a common issue.

There is no doubt that is the Sniper's hat though. The other hats there are also reference, Marty's Hat from BTTF part 2, Gizmo Duck's hat, and Grunckle Stan's fez. So they are more than just hats, and its quite possible the sniper's hat is a intended reference.
I feel really dumb, I just can't get the game to run as fantastic as it should, which isn't really a problem, the true problem is that the game stutters like crazy at random times.
So the Mann Co store isn't working at all. Valve I'm trying to give you money, come on!

Switch into the beta branch called beta, then back out once it starts downloading the beta. Fixed it for me.

I thought that Snowplow becoming official would resolve the performance issues because of the custom props.
A few guns from the update today can be bought for less then 2 USD on the Market.

Removed all my mods and even validated the game files. watdo? I'm really not up for reinstalling cause bandwidth reasons
I should note that this only happens when I remove my mods. Using the TIP SFM pack looks normal, this is literally stock TF2 with a lightwarp and hitsound

Material models/props_japan/c_shogun_katana does not support vertex format used by the mesh (maybe missing fields or mismatched vertex compression?), mesh will not be rendered. Grab a programmer![/code]
This, infinitely until I leave the map. And a bunch of things are invisible, making the map unplayable. Anyone else getting this?

I get the same problem with Snowplow whenever the map changes to it. If I join straight to Snowplow it's fine but if the map changes it's a huge pain.
