"Subspace Highway" could also work for the same reason, although only really for Scott Pilgrim fans.
Here's what those are in the SP universe: "Subspace is a highway of reality-bending proportions that plays a crucial role in transporting characters to various locations with haste."
Whereas Hammerspace is an original universal concept that existed before Scott Pilgrim. And it doesn't sound like an obscure reference from a cult-comic. The most early example is from the 1940's Looney Toons cartoons.

The concept of Subspace has been around a helluva lot longer than Scott Pilgrim. Douglas Adams makes use of it in H2G2.
I see Scott Pilgrim on the par with TBBT. It's trying to be original and creative with references to vidyagames and 'nerdy' things, and it fails at it. This is why I personally disapprove of the idea.
Just change the description to something a parody of Bill Cosby would say.
I'm actually thinking about making the desc of my bill's hat to "Not 4 Sale."
