That looks fake. What's the source?
I think the problem is that you aren't looking at all of the frames. There's plenty of variance when you look at them together.

On a side note, OddDoc's screencap of the early gravgun is in a very similar place to what the projector is showing. Curious.

I did this screenshot shortly after I got model sources. It was captured on LeakNet engine.
And I even didnt saw the original video, those screencaps was captured by another person during TeamViewer session (!) with the owner of this video.

The source is in Barnz's head. His head splits open and Athena comes out but instead of her Aegis, she's carrying a cd full of beta materials.
Also, I made it into ValveTime tweets. I guess my life is finally a success now?
Could've waited till I finished both maps, though.

Now you have my attention.
That looks fake. What's the source?
I'm very happy that they finally published this screenshot, waited a long time.
If not noticed, screenshot has a special style of vignette.
Remember what magazine did such, then find the answer to your question.

Dude, you're not looking for it.

Looks more like the HL2 beta sniper rifle to me...

Hate to shift topics here, but would anyone possess a normal-mapped version of the sniper rifle's receiver?
Here's a badly denoised&scaled version of the Alpha screenshot tweeted by ValveTime:

I think it's funny that people have been wanting a full version of the old American City 17 for years, when in reality we've had it right under our noses in the form of Kingpin.
Seriously, watch or play Kingpin sometime. The urban areas are basically the American City 17 without the alien technology, while Kingpin's industrial areas share a lot with the old City 17 factories and even some parts of the Air Exchange. The rooftops and ancient streetwar maps in the WC Map Pack seem like a natural extension of Kingpin's city environments, but in the day time. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Vertigo was originally inspired by the tower area in Kingpin's finale.
If you look at some of the oldest City 17 maps in the WC Map Pack, you'll see that they even share some design tricks that Kingpin has, like how it uses tiny buildings placed above walls to simulate buildings in the distance. Even the textures look similar between the two in some cases.

Because god forbid you google it in the time it took you to type that post
or even better, keep up with the thread, because this was being discussed only a few pages ago.

what i'm wondering is what that reddish-purple thing on the catwalk is, looks too slim to be a vortigaunt, might be a zombie?
what i'm wondering is what that reddish-purple thing on the catwalk is, looks too slim to be a vortigaunt, might be a zombie?
My guess is that it's just a red-colored Ivan multiplayer model. There really isn't any evidence that a red vortigaunt or zombie ever existed (although it is possible), so I think just another Ivan would be the most reasonable assumption.

That model exists in the leaked alpha, as well as a blue version.
Maybe that red thing is a panthereye?
Judging by its stance, and the fact that multiplayer is being shown, I'm going to assume it's a player in a different color. As someone else mentioned, models for Ivan in different colors exist within the demo. This is, of course, judging by the filenames, which also indicates the colors would be Green, Blue, and Red. For whatever reason, they're unable to be opened with the model viewer.

I no longer think it was done in co-operative play mode. Four players. Proof, three monster_human_grunt. Such coop appears or include cvar mp_allowmonsters 1

Does anyone still have those old maps for the leak from the hl2world contest? Or any fan-made maps for the leak that were made in 2003-2006? You can see a huge list of maps at 5:44 in this video. We would like to preserve those for history. Some of them were found thanks to Wayback Machine (credits go to A-shift for finding the links).
You can find what we already gathered here.
Did the Advisor model appear anywhere in the wc-mappack?

Going back to this, I'm pretty sure that the grunt is also using one of the scrapped alternate colors, desert.mdl.

Man, that screen cap is like a portal back in time. Imagine what the devs at Valve were doing at that very moment.

Probably making three games at once, but one had to be canned and the other won't come out until a decade later after at least 3 iterations.

Which ones? HL1 (completely redone a year later) and... what? TFC didn't start until HL was out and modders decided to port it to GldSrc and Valve then decided to take them in, and then make TF2, in 1999 onwards. TFC is kinda the reason we have the SDKs. This screencap is from 1997 (I guess), so no plans fot TFC or TF2 or HL2 yet, not even for redoing HL1.

Prospero and Valve's Team Fortress. Prospero is stated to be one of the two launch titles for Valve along with Quiver/Half-Life, and VTF/TF2 was shown in 1998, which means they've been working on it for some time. Keep in mind that TF Software was hired exactly to create TF2, and I think they were already hired in 1997.
