Don’t expect much from Episode 3 until we get a definite confirmation that the NDA has ended. That confirmation would probably look like a tidal wave of information anyway.
Im worried that, when trolls notice the tidal of info, they slip a lot of fake info together with it.
I got a question, Can someone make a female version of the gasmask citizen for me since i can't model humans and the reason why I am asking is so i can use the female gasmask citizen to replace the models for the female citizens in my city_test restoration project and I don't want to use male gasmask citizen models for the females...
I think the only females during the GYFTV era is Helena Mossman and Alyx. Looks like Gasmask Citizens are a male-only species like scientists in HL1.

I suck at modelling so that's why I am asking...

They were all males originally (as they were citizen.mdl, not male_xx.mdl/female_xx.mdl), so I don't see why you shouldn't restore them back to males again.

Their face is mainly covered by a mask. Does it really matter if there isn't a female version?
I think the only females during the GYFTV era is Helena Mossman and Alyx. Just recompile it with female animations and bob's your uncle?
Gasmask citizens would make it easier since you don't have to model individual faces and body builds, so the model becomes androgynous.
on the face texture you can see the gasmask citizen has facial hair and that's why i would like a female version otherwise ever gasmask citizen would have a male body build and facial hair
The gas mask citizen has a fairly masculine face, but otherwise yeah, the rubber suit would keep everyone rather featureless so you can honestly get away with just compiling it on the female animations. And you can easily cheat the face thing if it bothers you by editing the vmt of the glass texture to be opaque, obviously wouldn't look as nice but it's a solution.
Can I ask why a female GMC is important for the restoration project?
on the face texture you can see the gasmask citizen has facial hair and that's why i would like a female version otherwise ever gasmask citizen would have a male body build and facial hair
you could just change the face texture to look more female :vs:
because it wouldn't make sense if their were male gasmask citizens and no female ones, I am also thinking of making the project a mod as well
GMCs are already obsolete by the time they thought of making female and child citizens, so that's why there's only male GMCs. Hell, judging by their model name having no indication of variations (being citizen.mdl as opposed to scientist0x.mdl), it's highly probable that no female GMCs were ever planned to be made. iirc Marc Laidlaw was the voice actor for the GMCs during the GYFTV demo.
Probably because not everyone is a leak purist, and some may wish to recreate something with their own flavor, whatever that may be.
It's fine to remake something with their own personal touch, but the word "restoration" implies that it's only fixing the map so that it looks and plays the way it should, like what Butou does.
you could just change the face texture to look more female :vs:
yeah, lets put boobs inside the visor!
according to the march 2017 episode VMFs leak, ep1/aftermath has an early 2004 version of testroom_standards
you could just change the face texture to look more female :vs:
Maybe blank it out so their gender is ambiguous
I really think having just one gasmask model, without any distinctions of gender, would contribute in a subtle way to that "prison" feeling of the Combine domination. No males/females, just humans. It would definitely help making the world feel more alien, more disenfranchised from reality.
Just make everyone wear slightly baggy clothing and it will work fine.
Just make everyone wear slightly baggy clothing and it will work fine.
Are they tits or man-boobs? We'll never know.
That's actually something I struggled with for a while. I tried to edit the model to give it a more feminine look but it was actually still really hard to distinguish from the male model. I think if I were to do it again, just give the female model a facemask instead of a whole head mask. That way, you can see more features of their head/hair which is undoubtedly more feminine.
Why does it need to have "femine" look? Half Life 2 is really modest when it comes to stuff just look at rebels, no giant boobs or stupid revealing and zany different outfit for women. Just don't forget makeup.
That comes pre-packed in with Garry's Mod for some fucking reason
all this talk reminds me of that disastrous model maxofs2d made for a "female metrocop" which is literally just thinner legs and arms with a bigger chest
If it works, I guess.
Just don't forget makeup.
Fakefactory, is that you?

I was simply saying that if you want to differentiate them visually, that's one way to do it. Obviously don't take it to extreme levels, but it could work. If creating androgynous gasmask citizens only differentiated by their voices is the goal, then just black out the visor.
