I need to hear this.

gman saying "well shit" is the funniest thing ever to me
going to need a video on these
Mhm, I originally saw these before Episode 1 was released, and luckily I managed to get people on the hunt and we finally found the English version of those Gman files :3

Got a link to the whole .gcf?
Someone on the discord, Jasper, managed to find unused Episode 1 sound files and VCDs in one of the earliest versions of Ep1. These include G-Man swearing and snarling at the player. The preload also has ep1_intro in episode 1.gcf and test #2 G-Man image of the Half-Life 2 ARG from 2004. The version is dated to be no earlier than May 2nd 2006.
Edit: They will soon be uploading the episode 1 shared.gcf to the Valve Cut Content discord.
Edit 2:
They're for download on the discord
The readme says "Half-Life 2: Episode 1 pre-load disc contents". I remember people snooping around those back in 2006, but back then it was only possible to view the names -somebody managed to "decrypt" them? Is that even possible, they were probably partial files.
Also, the voice lines kind of make it sound like the intro was originally playable, and the multiple "come back" lines were the "it's time to choose" of Ep1.
EDIT: oh, crap, it says "disc". I actually had a retail Episode 1 disc that was distributed by Buka in Russia - did it come from one of those?

That's what I thought too - I remember reading that there was a GMan pain .wav in the preload which disappeared after release.
I would have thought the discs would be encrypted too if they were pre-release but maybe not?

The 5CD disc release are encrypted, the GCFS are that is. There are programs out there that can decrypt them. They also contain all the files needed to run HL2 minus one or two dlls that have to be patched and a soundbyte that's corrupt

All versions of Half-Life are significantly worse than when they released because of the Steampipe update. The best way to play Half-Life 2 is HL2: Update. A fan made patch.
It's kind of hilarious how oppressive Ken Williams Dick Sleeve, Sierra, released a more coherent and stable version of Half-Life twenty years ago, whereas the company that originally made it could only manage to scrounge together a literal baby to make it (barely) work on modern systems.

Makes me want to suck-start a twelve gauge and take the ole' double-0 buck train to pain town.

A literal baby?

Hey, don't shit talk Valve's whipping boy Alfred!
A literal baby?
Alfred has been confirmed to be the eternally-youthful spawn of a scornful witch, doomed forever to waddle around on his hands with his little bitty legs trailing behind him as he hastily tries to duct-tape together a game that nobody wanted updated, and which gets worse with every update.
How does Valve explain the fact that Gordon did not eat any food or drink any water during the entire events of Half-Life, Half-Life 2, and episodes?

I've never been able to mentally put together a visual image of this until you typed it out and I could read it instead of just hearing it as I idly passed by
I like to pretend the HEV suit just kept him running on adrenaline for days or something.
Or off screen he is fed that nutrient goop that Robocop eats.

New TF2 Concept Art, last HL concept released was in 2008.
