I don't get it
I don't get it
you and me both.
I don't get it

you and me both.
Look at the bottom of the texture
I still don't get it
It's really common to re-use and combine textures together. I do lots of texturing work and I re-use different textures together in same ways, specifically general patterns like that
I still don't get it
:why: Can you not see that minus color, the bottom of both textures are the same?! Just stare at a section on the bottom and watch only the color (and NOT the texture background) change!
:why: Can you not see that minus color, the bottom of both textures are the same?! Just stare at a section on the bottom and watch only the color (and NOT the texture background) change!
Yeah, no, we got that. Why is that worth note?
Yeah, no, we got that. Why is that worth note?
Because not everyone got it.
Well, did everyone or anyone get it now?
yeah, everyone who doesn't get it, look for where the texture stops going up and down to where it goes from left to right and you'll see it. it's dumb and obvious (everybody knows this) but by combining all these different textures, we can recreate some textures that in certain cases look almost perfectly identical or good enough to leak or missing textures. [editline]24th December 2017[/editline] and thats why its cool and interesting i think [editline]24th December 2017[/editline] it also looks kind of uggo, ideally a brown vertical texture should not have blue horizontal snow on the bottom
If someone were to waste some of their time, they could take many of concrete and metal textures (sometimes stone, too. And rock) and make a whole 20-second gif cycling through dozens of textures with same scratches/splotches/stains/seams, because whoeverd made the textures, loved to reuse the same basic diffuse. [editline]24th December 2017[/editline]
it also looks kind of uggo, ideally a brown vertical texture should not have blue horizontal snow on the bottom
How in the world is it blue to you? It's sandy. Sandy bottom where the rock would connect to sand
The snow is blue. Vaguely a desaturated combine blue. it looks sandy because it fades into the orange-brown-ness of the rock and because it's so desaturated the brown overrides it. normally it'd be grey then blue, cause that's how colors work. [editline]24th December 2017[/editline] also for anyone interested in the bridge in air-exchange, watch some videos of people walking under bridges in new york, and specifically look at all the infrastructure the people walk by. it's very inspiring, and you may see some bits that can apply really easily. you may notice this already, but both the wc-mappack and retail hl2 have an industrial/truss/pipe/bridge fetish, and videos like these are real good for getting in tune to that aesthetic.
so i was looking at the leak, you guys know this already, but just in case you've never seen this before. this will make you sad and disappoint you and you will want to do everything in your power to make this right yeah i don't have the leak textures, beta was confusing to download and i don't know how to get it working, but if you want to get it to concept art standard, it's just the beginning of airex (airex_start) under the visgroup no man's land. i screencapped the backside too, it's not that often that people actually see the back of it. it's actually literally just one side of a small hallway, fun fact. (in case you don't know). you all know about this, you have the leak, you (unlike me) have it actually working. it's something cool i want to share because i literally looked at some dumb image of this air-ex bridge recreation from a fan mod and i got mad at it because it wasn't how bridges worked, so i wanted to see what the actual bridge looked like and then i found some air-ex concept art, and found the real thing and then got sad because it wasn't as finished as the concept art made it look and it looks like it's in disrepair. anyway, it's a cool thing, you guys are probably already at work on it. good job keep doing your thing. [editline]24th December 2017[/editline] oh whoops i double posted oops
so i was looking at the leak, you guys know this already, but just in case you've never seen this before. this will make you sad and disappoint you and you will want to do everything in your power to make this right
Thanks for sharing, I actually had no idea about that. It's one of my favorite pieces from Viktor and it was hiding in front of me this entire time.
1366x768 problems: wishing you had more space for Hammer :(
I still remember how I made maps and worked in faceposer on 1024x768. I felt physically constrained.
Can anyone please tell me why 'Nicknine's Model Converter' turns the Leak Citizens into these deformed horrors. I mean I did follow the instructions of the converter.
I think you did not copy Male_0101.mdl over. Citizen models use a shared MDL file for animations, Male_0101.mdl (and shared MDL files are completely different from how retail Source does includemodels so I have to shove everything into the main model). You're supposed to put the shared file in the same dir as the main model (e.g. Male_01.mdl) then target the main model. [editline]25th December 2017[/editline]
Oh wow, that brings back memories... [t]https://pp.userapi.com/c834204/v834204197/62566/ngo9ec8KfYI.jpg[/t]
You know, the similarity is staggering. I'm willing to bet that Team Gaben was also writing V37 model converter at some point and ran into the same issue with shared MDL files.
Man, I miss those guys. When's the next MI release (if ever)?
Yeah, no, we got that. Why is that worth note?
It's not worth note, I was just fucking posting a dumb small thing I found while browsing the files. I truly don't understand whats so bad about that.
I happened upon MakingTrailers.ppt although I couldn't get the video of that presentation, and all videos that's linked in the PowerPoint file are lost. This appears to be an older version from Steam Dev Days 2005, whereas the one in the video is from GDC 2006. And as usual, nothing about GYFTVs. It's still very useful for you modmakers that are making trailers for your mods though, reminding you about oft-forgotten objectives such as focusing on the main point of your game, keeping the viewers interested, and actually showing off some fucking gameplay footage (take notes, Kojima!).
Merry Christmas, Cut Contenters.
Merry Christmas, Cut Contenters.
Has anyone prepared gifts for customer? No?
Man, I miss those guys. When's the next MI release (if ever)?
Team GabeN never developed MI. A few members from TG did, and that team was called the same as mod name
Is it just me or do I feel that the cremator is the result of the Combine capturing an alien assassin?
Is it just me or do I feel that the cremator is the result of the Combine capturing an alien assassin?
Yeah, the arms do look pretty similar to the assassin's. There are some fan theories that they're frankenstein-esque creatures made out of a bunch of dead shit.
Interesting point. Was there any indications that the Alien Assassin was a part of the Combine?
