If the Many Worlds Interpretation is true, not only is there a universe where Half-Life 3 existed and was released, there's a universe where it came out and was total garbage. There's a universe where HL1, 2, and 3 were all made on slightly upgrade GoldSrc only two years apart from each other. There's a universe where Fakefactory was the art director for 2 instead of Viktor Antanov.

The Combine cares about their stalkers being pretty. So they give them the the corset.
It's neat that the stalker body is wrapped up in a shawl and the belts are there to keep it in place. Almost like bandages (jacket-y tweedy looking texture on the torso, doesn't look like skin) It has a neat Masahiro Ito vibe with all the belts and stuff, but does it wrong. If you look at the Abstract Daddy (shown below) you can make out how to do it better. Both these creatures have the same jerky Jacob's Ladder inspired animations, and love to show the body fluids, but the stalker doesn't have the overt-sexualization and creepy fetishness of the Abstract Daddy, which is weird, because HL1 wanted to be all about the sexualization of it's creature design, purely to make homophobes creeped out. I went for a "best of both worlds" approach and modified the retail stalker model a lot to look like the old model. I haven't finished it yet though because I don't feel like re-uving the model. The model itself looks good though if I do say so myself.

Since the Stalker model still has the Clavicle bones connected to the Neck bone like other HL1/TFC models instead of Spine3/4 bone like recent models ala 2003 Combine Soldier, it's gotta be pretty early (unless the new boning scheme came into play in 2003 or something). Marc has said on multiple occasion that the Stalker was one of the earliest HL2 enemies though (probably already in the game since the 3 races and sacktick thing). Maybe finding when exactly Valve implemented their new skeletal bones standard will help us date these models.

Retail stalker just looks like a squishy pink boy with a batman mask, beta stalker has shit leaking from the eyeholes, much more fucked up, nutrient-starved skin, and removal of mouth freedom. It looks dirty and painful, while the retail version is way cleaner and doesn't get the same feel across.
Please don't gatekeep the community. Mx. Ego (omg dark interval is literally the only good beta mod you guys) has a right to their opinion, and does belong in this community. If Cvoxalury thinks Retail Models look better that's their right. The Beta looks like garbage 100% of the time so it's not like anybody's making it look worse. Well, actually and after a decade of a dozen, no, more than [i]twenty[/i] mod's that died or failed to get the best out of the Beta concepts, even Missing Information has just some random map's and nothing since 2011. At last and/or at least, a one-man army (later joined by another dev') managed to make a real mod, playable and all, with its own gameplay, ambiance, with the Beta concept, and yes, after all, he's in his own right to take some liberties, because it's a mod, it's free, it's his work, and if people are angry they can all try to do their own Beta HL2 mod with the Beta Stalker and Beta Consul, well, after so many failed projects, I can only see where it'll be going. Dark Interval won't be the "ultimate" Beta HL2 mod we could have dreamed about, but it takes a very interesting path in its part 1 where Gordon is nothing more than a lost little mouse surrounded by angry cats, deprived of weapons, going into hide-and-seek adventures, and it's an interesting vision, darker and more sad, than the original HL2, where the played don't know WTF is going on or what's supposed to do, in this world where he has been released after god knows how many years. The silent introduction on a boat, the eerie Borealis... #SaveCvolaxury

I know he looks different in the concept art, but his first 3D model being only a bit different than retail Breen is a point worth considering. Another similar case is concept art Alyx vs first Alyx 3D model, where it's basically final Alyx in concept Alyx's clothings + hair color.
