Can someone mod the retail hammer to play that shitty midi MC Hammer clip on launch on every launch?

it's not that hard to figure out what he's saying, you have to do it in two steps
1. understand the mistranslations from his native language, which happen in certain predictable ways with him, and account for them
2. disregard the Extra
I think you guys are trying to do these in reverse order, which is why you're having trouble? You're seeing the funny archaic word choices and stopping there. There's actually a lot of really interesting and well thought out posts underneath and I'm a little sad he got banned.
Well, in the immortal words of a certain protagonist from a certain 2001 shooter
"What a shame".
He always posted quite a bit of new information, which Im glad to have learned. Im sad indeed.
Quarterberry is generally cool.

Ok, who is Scott and why does he have Barney's face? Beta people you probably actually know this. Pray tell.
With the distinct visual style of Half-Life 2 and City 17's architecture, it's kinda mind-boggling Valve never felt the need to make an official comic. It just feels like a no-brainer thing to do, but I guess they always saw Half-Life as being defined by its gameplay to the point a comic didn't make sense.

There were some plans:

but the idea was ultimately scrapped.

I wanted for us to make Valve comics weekly, TF comics, we tried really hard on making a Half Life comic, even Counter-Strike, anything on a regular/consistent basis so fans can stop in for updates/message boards and get new comics every either daily or twice a weekly.
We made some massive comics with Left 4 Dead, Portal 2 and ball cracking funnies with Team Fortress, but I was never able to get comics to compete with the games so the dream of a Valve web series never happened. I really wanted to see one of the properties be a regular ongoing we comic but it never happened. Resources really did need to go into the games, not into making comics every day. That's dope. And sort of justifies the military aesthetic we've been going for.

man, that looks fucking rad
Comics are generally good things that exist.
Do you guys think there's any sort of an audience for a Half-Life comic at all?

I hate to say this, but general enthusiam for the series has slowly been dwindling over the years, unless Valve announce or tease anything Half-Life related or there's a sudden spike in interest the only people who are going to be are hardcore fans.
That being said if you get the comic picked up or reported on one of the big games sites it's highly possible that it'll generate plenty of interest with people assuming that your work is a teaser for something official. Because while half-life's fanbase is slowly dwindling, they have a habit of coming back strong whenever they think something is going to happen.
tell everyone that hl3 has been on steam for a week and it's $29.99 and have them all be disappointed when they figure out it's not real.

Honestly, as much as I like that old joke, and seeing Valve actually pull it off out of sheer irony would be amazing, it got stale a long fucking time ago.
How do I get picked up by a big games site? :v:

~Social media marketing~
Everything Valve touches is gold. I just wish they didn't have germophobia.
I had a pretty fun idea for a short HL comic once, maybe I'll get into it someday. The fact I can't draw probably won't help me, but fuck it.
Speaking of comics, did anyone else think that Lab Rat reflects the dark tone of the first portal much better then the second game? For something that is supposed to bridge the gap between the two titles, I feel like it's more faithful to the original. Seriously, could you imagine the line about aperture being like a cancer cell being said in Portal 2?
Makes me wonder if portal 2 was initially supposed to be much darker or something.
helo i hav half lif 3 beta

There was an audience for Prospekt.
I would love to see what happened to Colette and Gina as a comic.
Did they make it out from Black Mesa or did they locked to a place "Where no harm could come to him and he could do no harm to anyone else."
Or did they just die in the nuclear detonation...

Man this is fucking rad. Even though the Airex tower was originally nothing more than a control tower, and having it take the place of a reactor is... odd, to say the least.
But still, fucking rad.
Do you people recognize this EP2 model?

The missing texture part uses train_wreck_train001 in props_trainstation, contrasting the ep2_train_trailer model using the same VMT in the props_outland directory instead, and it searches for the appropriate texture where none exists. I have a fixed VMT for it here…
"VertexLitGeneric"
{
"$basetexture" "models/props_trainstation/train_wreck_train001"
"$alpha" 1
"$basealphaenvmapmask" 1
"$envmap" "env_cubemap"
"$envmaptint" "[ .25 .25 .25]"
}
Do you think Valve would DMCA an attempt to crowdfund money for an artist for the last few pages (about $2-3k probably less)?
Hypothetically speaking of course.
I don't think so. They are pretty hands-off when it comes to that sort of stuff, since it's basically fan-made.
Do you think one would even succeed?
What you should do is put it into a flash reader wrapper ala the Hotline Miami 2 comic and put it on Steam via Greenlight or whatever new submission process Valve are doing. I can't imagine you'd get away with charging for it, but if you want it to be read, it'd be a good way.

Sure, but I still need to /finish/ the comic. I can't put something up that isn't finished. It just aint right. Also, the other HL comic charges money for theirs.
Then charge for it if you can get permission.

Go for it lad, you never know what might happen.
