Did Alyx gun too!

very well made but a little long...
Looks pretty cool through, same with the flaregun icon.
Maybe we can turn this into a font glyph and make it available to mods :)
the alyx gun length is almost the smg variant while still being gun.

Gladly. I've made about 20 of these things for various different weapons and worked with the fonts as well.
Edit: and the Alyx Gun above, yeah, the proportions don't match the retail and leak one, since I believe I used some other model. I'll do the leak version though, it'll be simple.
Was Alyx Gun even in the leak?
For those who missed it, ValveTime has just released a very intriguing conceptual image.
In 2005, Alistair McNally, an Artist at EA Montreal and BioWare, had created a concept image showing what Half-Life 2 would look like on a next-gen console in HD for both Valve and EA. Overall, the goal was to try and keep the original design/construction rules for the game since the next generation was to be built using existing tools and technology.

Yeah, it has a slightly different model compared to the retail version.

I could have sworn I've seen this image before. Are they sure this is something new?

Actually, you are right. BUT people thought it was a fan image for HL3 and didn't know the true story behind it. This is the original image.
This is a site that thought that it was HL3 fan image: http://www.merlininkazani.com/HalfLife_2_Episode_3-makale-39079p1.html
Here, they removed the logo from the top right:

Does anyone know if Missing information/ any other beta re-creation community is still alive?
Does anyone know if Missing information/ any other beta re-creation community is still alive?
pretty much MI is surely alive. some kind of hiatus for the steam release it seems.
HL2beta.ru is up again.
VXP's leaknet is there.
pretty much that's all so far, likely everything else is dead probably
[DEL]oh and just now i finished packaging up binaries of source 2012 leak for a private release. [/DEL]

Isn't that the gordon someone ran through FaceApp?
Isn't that the gordon someone ran through FaceApp?
Faceapp is the most beautiful thing, like for example, taking a picture of Eli Vance just in the moment of getting his brain probed by an advisor, and giving him a smile.

For example.

We aren't committing to our actual Steam release very often because it doesn't make sense to do so. We're developing everything "offline" if you please. We have source control repositories for these kind of things.

We are planning on continuing Insolence. Its still alive and we're planning some new concepts, but life gets to us.
Got a new Ted on the horizon. This one will most likely be public since no many people have done that.

I'm not sure if this has been posted or not, if it has been I'll snip this post.
The Beta CS:GO C4 and grenades had higher resolution textures. I made some comparisons below, the current CS:GO textures have been upscaled with no interpolation to show the differences better.
Zoom in to see the differences better.
Warning/note: Large images. Left is the beta CS:GO texture, right is the current CS:GO texture.
C4: 2048x2048 vs 1024x1024

Frag grenade: 1024x1024 vs 512x512

Smoke grenade: 2048x2048 vs 512x512

eh, advertising crap. faceapp obsessed
and isn't higher resolution textures always the case with beta vs retail!?
you gotta be kidding with those ratings, seriously guys?

Here we go. Got sidetracked with others icons and shit, but this one is based on the Leak Worldmodel. If you have any critiques, let me know.

This is good, but I kind of prefer the other one. This one feels compressed, for lack of better words.
Yeah, I could see where you're getting at. Good thing I did 2 versions then right? I guess I'll do the retail Alyx Gun next.
I remember buying a copy of Half-Life and it came with a few videos, for example, one of them is called tour.avi and it's a 4:3 video of some "camera" views of the c1a1 levels after the incident, with the valve/sierra logo thing on the corner, and also has a closeup of a zombie idling. I have downloaded other CD versions of HL and haven't seen those videos, and they aren't also in Day One.
You guys know about them?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's called Half-Life: Preliminary Findings.

Preliminary Findings did not have any of the videos described by ThickModule though. Also, Preliminary Findings is from 1997 and none of it's videos is from c1a1 aside from the trailers, if my memory serves me correct. Also, the Sierra/Valve logo was on the E3 1998 videos, not the E3 1997 videos, as seen here:

It would be sweet though if that tour.avi video ever surfaces.

It is retail Half-Life, or maybe a bit before release, since the Zombie is the retail one, not sure about the map stuff though.
Also, the zombie is part of tour.avi
I do have the CD's contents laying around and I can try and look for tour.avi if you want
I've found it, tour.avi and the rest, I'll be uploading tour.avi shortly
More texture work done!
