that screenshot has it all. Console buttons, furry avatar, overprices, ranks, obnoxious colors and gibberish text
Y'know, I wouldn't mind CSGO character customization if it was like those where it's just a few different hats with a few different variations and having specific hats for each side. But knowing Valve they'd blow it way the fuck out of proportion and we'd have people running around with lime green/bright pink balaclavas
[t]http://www.valvetime.net/attachments/015-jpg.25846/[/t] I know all of these are early and placeholder, but holy shit is this one a clusterfuck.
Pretty sure Valve owns the rights and could put Gunman Chronicles on Steam (just like Half-Life Decay too I guess) but don't for whatever reason.
the rights for Gunman are in a weird place. Renier, the lead modeler, says this: [t]http://i.imgur.com/kLY4daO.png[/t]
the rights for Gunman are in a weird place. Renier, the lead modeler, says this: [t]http://i.imgur.com/kLY4daO.png[/t]
I could have sworn that NightDive Studios owns the rights, but either way Renier is right about the fact that Valve won't release the game simply because they don't own the rights to it...
Yes we are including bullsquids.
What out updated your version of Beta Shotgun more accurately based on leak. But it's better to let them alone to finished a complete version of mod on Steam if they are ready.
What's the Gunman Chronicles, a HL1 dlc or a game on Golden Source?
:snip:
What's the Gunman Chronicles, a HL1 dlc or a game on Golden Source?
It's a sci-fi western commercial HL1 mod in the making since the Doom days.
What's the Gunman Chronicles, a HL1 dlc or a game on Golden Source?
I feel like this is easily answered by a quick google search followed by clicking the Wikipedia link That said, fully new game that has nothing to do with Half-Life other than the engine, at least as far as content goes.

In order to keep your mark active an affidavit showing continued use of the mark must have been filed between the fifth and sixth after the date of registration and on each 10th anniversary of registration. You did not timely file a Section 8 renewal. Your registration has been canceled for failure to file a Section 8 renewal. There was a six (6) month grace period after the deadline to file your Section 8. You failed to file on time, or within the grace period. Your trademark registration has been abandoned. Unless there is an excusable reason that you successfully petition to the Director, the application is unrevivable, and you should consider re-filing. If you have done the proper renewal, you have also ensured that you are continuing to use the mark for all goods or services listed in the registration, or that you properly deleted the goods or services that you are no longer using. Failure to do so may be fraud and make your registration vulnerable to attack. See: http://www.uspto.gov/faq/t120052.jsp For a trademark registration to remain valid, an Affidavit of Use (Section 8 Affidavit) must be filed: (1) between the fifth and sixth year following registration, and (2) within the year before the end of every ten-year period after the date of registration. The registrant may file the Section 8 Affidavit within a grace period of six months after the end of the sixth or every tenth year, with payment of an additional fee. The registrant must also file a Section 9 renewal application (Section 9 Renewal) within the year before the end of each successive 10-year period following the date of registration, or within a grace period of six months thereafter, with payment of an additional fee. Assuming the Section 8 Affidavit and Section 9 Renewal are timely-filed as indicated above, the registration will be renewed for a 10-year term. If the Section 8 Affidavit and Section 9 Renewal are not timely filed, the registration will be cancelled. Registrations cancelled due to the failure to file a Section 8 Affidavit and Section 9 Renewal cannot be revived or reinstated. The required forms may be filed through the Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS) (click on "File Forms Online" from the main USPTO Home Page under the Trademark column), and then from within TEAS select the category "REGISTRATION MAINTENANCE/RENEWAL FORMS." Renewals can be filed with the USPTO here: http://www.uspto.gov/trademarks-application-process/filing-online/registration-maintenancerenewalcorrection-forms Petitions can be filed here: http://www.uspto.gov/about/offices/patents/pep/office_of_petitions.jsp
Anyone else notice how the classic knife is named "Bowie Knife" in those early UI designs?

I've jotted down some more interesting things in hl2_scripts.dsp for archival purposes. Italic'd filenames are missing from scripts/. More interesting stuff is underlined: Schematics: - barney.sch - citizen.sch - default.sch - kungfu_owen.sch (So Owen was the former name for Odell, but kungfu?? Interesting) - lead_monster.sch - metro_police.sch - odell.sch (So I guess Owen was renamed Odell much earlier?) - proto_sniper.sch - sacktick.sch (Oh my, is this the only in-game reference we have to the sacktick?) - scanner.sch (Interesting that it was around this early and not referred to as a combot) - talk_monster.sch NPC Schematics: - npc_assassin.sch (Alien assassin. Now we know that they were around as early as this time) - npc_barnacle.sch - npc_barney.sch - npc_bullsquid.sch - npc_combine.sch - npc_conscript.sch - npc_headcrab.sch - npc_manhack.sch (Interesting, but unsurprising, that it was around this early) - npc_mortarsynth.sch (Ditto) - npc_odell.sch - npc_stalker.sch - npc_vortigaunt.sch - npc_wscanner.sch - npc_zombie.sch (Hold up, where are the monster_ entities like monster_metropolice or monster_combot???) Weapon Scripts: (Could this actually be telling us what weapons were around in this era?) - weapon_ar1.txt (AK47) - weapon_ar2.txt (OICW) - weapon_binoculars.txt (Binoculars) - weapon_brickbat.txt (Brickbat) - weapon_flaregun.txt (Flare gun) - weapon_hmg1.txt (HMG1, interesting that it was implemented this early) - weapon_iceaxe.txt (Ice axe) - weapon_ml.txt (Missile launcher) - weapon_molotov.txt (Molotov) - weapon_physgun.txt (Physgun, implemented this early?? Wow!) - weapon_shotgun.txt (Shotgun) - weapon_slam.txt (SLAM) - weapon_smg1.txt (SMG1 (or MP5K?)) - weapon_smg2.txt (SMG2) - weapon_sniperrifle.txt (Sniper rifle) - weapon_stunstick.txt (Combine stun stick) (No crowbar or pistol? Huh) Misc. Files - 640_hud.txt - kb_act.lst - kb_def.lst - kb_keys.lst - liblist.gam - materials.txt - rooms.lst - sentences.txt - settings.scr - woncomm.lst
For those who missed it, ValveTime has released more screenshots for an unpublished CS:GO map, called "Balkan" which dates back to 2014: Source: https://twitter.com/ValveTime/status/857252531168268289 More info here: http://www.valvetime.net/threads/screenshots-of-unpublished-counter-strike-global-offensive-map-balkan.257777/
This makes me very happy, thanks for sharing! I hope the next time we see this map, it's as part of an update to GO, however unlikely that may be.
So exactly what makes this interesting?
The fact that before all the scripts of the engine was prescribed not to the root folder of the game (mod), but to folder "scripts". - "hl2/scripts/640_hud.txt" it was "valve/sprites/hud.txt" (second half scripts for screen resolution greater than 640) - "hl2/scripts/kb_act.lst" it was "valve/gfx/shell/kb_act.lst" - "hl2/scripts/kb_def.lst" it was "valve/gfx/shell/kb_def.lst" - "hl2/scripts/kb_keys.lst" it was "valve/gfx/shell/kb_keys.lst" - "hl2/scripts/liblist.gam" it was "valve/liblist.gam" - "hl2/scripts/materials.txt" it was "valve/sound/materials.txt" - "hl2/scripts/rooms.lst" it was "valve/rooms.lst" - "hl2/scripts/sentences.txt" it was "valve/sound/sentences.txt" - "hl2/scripts/settings.scr" it was "valve/settings.scr" - "hl2/scripts/woncomm.lst" it was "valve/woncomm.lst"
the rights for Gunman are in a weird place. Renier, the lead modeler, says this: [t]http://i.imgur.com/kLY4daO.png[/t]
Old domain owned by Activision: https://whois.icann.org/en/lookup?name=gunmanchronicles.com Also, I dug through some old emails I had and according to Valve at least, they own Gunman Chronicles and they still have the source for it (not surprising - if you look at the credits a few Valve employees did some work on it).
I was hoping they still had the sources - excellent! Who were the employees? Please PM me the details so I can work on getting that for my Gunman site.
If HL1 is anything to go by, the source files of Gunman Chronicles are on a harddrive in a desk that they have in storage but they don't know which one and there's like a hundred desks
Just wanted to know, but has anyone found this model or made an accurate recreation?
I was hoping they still had the sources - excellent! Who were the employees? Please PM me the details so I can work on getting that for my Gunman site.
Email to Gabe Newell, affirmative response from Erik Johnson.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/uBnEX2l.png[/t]
Is that just a mockup, or is it gonna be a thing? Because I tried doing a similar thing a while back, but can't get the animations to work (so no monsters).
