But I remember it was an architecture prefab map and the texture reference was one of the hidden faces inside that building. But there were references to origin textures (to specify origin) in some of the older maps, a distinctly RMF file format feature for specifying brush model origins.
Could the RMF -> VMF conversion be why so many vmfs in the mappack have a shitton of orphaned groups? Just what the hell causes so many orphaned objects? Just look at the airex maps... Like half of the map is orphaned.

Like half of the map is orphaned.[/QUOTE] It's because of the way objects used to be hidden in the older map format, Hammer just doesn't recognise it, and just orphans any it finds. I tried updating the older hidden format to the newer way of doing it (which I think was updated from the older format in about ~late 2002/early 2003), but I didn't have the correct tools.

does anyone know how to fix ep2_outland_08_chopper? when i enable the _trainyard visgroup it gives me a set of coordinates and "make_triangles:calc_triangle_representation Cannot convert" yet i go to the coordinates and they're under the map and there's no brushes where the coordinates lead to or anything

Maybe you'll find something. Or maybe there's a leak out in the map.
there's no leaks and i can't find anything with those coordinates
