It was all just a flow of ideas, daily, weekly. Some were only on paper, some were conceptualized, some were built and even playtested. But it was all just temporary, they were just throwing shit at a wall to see what sticks. One of those turds was the hyperborea start, which stuck longer than, say, agent gordon escaping from MGS V intro.
In the last thread I asked if I should stay classic with the beta weapons, or add new models. Probably like 90% of people said new models... so that's what i've been working on. I've remade/found new/re-textured... etc... about half of the weapons so far, hopefully they look decent. Tell me what you think so far. Those weapons are nearly impossible to find updated models for.

Maybe it's the map that's making them shine so bright? I can see some issue with the normal on the Alyx gun (that bit where the phong cuts across it in a diagonal line) If you're looking for a 'decent' Sniper Rifle I did a sort of redux a while back. I kinda like the idea of Gordon starting in the Arctic and getting onto the Hyperborea, would make for a cool mod if well-executed too.

Unfortunatly its a model problem with the Alyx gun. I'm just using the best one I have, and that one is from SMOD. (I think) And yeah if you could send me that HD textured sniper that would be great. It'll be the best one I have currently. Actually I found some grizzly 50 cal CAD model somewhere online, but I don't have the program to convert it to a .obj unfortunatly. So I've been out of the loop for a while and have a few questions. Apparently a beta Left 4 Dead mod and a beta Portal mod both got given beta assets which might then have been leaked out. Is that true and if it is, is the actual beta stuff available anywhere on its own or was it all just adapted into the mods? Bonus question - cs_arcticbiolab isn't in the 2003 leak but the map exists - did it come from the 2002 leak of Condition Zero?

I've been away for a few weeks and just noticed the permalinks and the contact form on the Valve Archive were all fucked (403 forbidden/404) no idea how long that's been going on for but it's fixed now if anyone was experiencing problems. I think the vhost config for the archive got reset and didn't enable auto indexing on the archive files, not allowing anyone to view/download files. Sorry about that! Also, Jackathan has an interesting Gunman Chronicles page which is coming in the near future. We are still looking for anyone willing to host a mirror if anyone is interested, regular public cloud storage hosts don't offer the flexibility needed for this kind of archive. After someone DMCA'd the original mega.nz folder, sharing got all screwed up and became super limited. Google Drive handles files that have names like "Half.Life.2.Beta.HL2WCMaps-ANON.tar" as a virus or thinks it's illegal content and Dropbox/Drive will stop access to shared folders/files if they get too many views.
