There's also cut dialog that would have been used for longer scenes in the game, as well as several scenes that were reworked or removed.
There's also cut dialog that would have been used for longer scenes in the game, as well as several scenes that were reworked or removed.
That's exactly what I was thinking about. You could have the NPCs walk to different places to use that dialog, or do some other cool "Look what source can do!" 2004 type stuff while they say those lines. You could probably also restore the old Kleiner's lab scene by saying he was actually teleported into some slaughterhouse, and it took him until the Nova Prospekt chapter to find his way back to the lab, since some pieces of meat were teleported in his place.
pretty sure i am late as shit but someone might discover it for themselves props/paperposter008a the red piece of poster on the left is [t]https://pp.userapi.com/c841330/v841330141/ecb5/WYlunY5umMY.jpg[/t]

Does anyone have a copy of the hl2 sdk source code from around 2006?
Does anyone have a copy of the hl2 sdk source code from around 2006?
I'd be interested too - there's only a few references to the Team Fortress 2 Invasion stuff left on the Internet (possibly incomplete), plus I think there still might be Source 2004 stuff in there (I think there's some lumps that only appear in Source 2004 .bsp files for example). I remember finding a project on SourceForge like 10 years ago that had all the Team Fortress 2 Invasion stuff but if I downloaded the whole thing I've since lost it.

Apparently trying to restore the fire effects from the leak is a pain in the ass.
Apparently trying to restore the fire effects from the leak is a pain in the ass.
I've always liked the leak's fire effects compared to the current source fire particles, they seem much more bigger and dramatic than the underwhelming swarm of fire we have now
SourceSDK.gcf I've been looking for source code "2004-2006" (30 November 2004 - 17 January 2006) for a long time ago or the very first version of the Sourse SDK (CSS - 5 November 2004, HL2 - 20 November 2004). The Internet is full of information that where when it became available, but about the sources themselves and the SDK there is nothing left, physically, all the links have not existed for a long time or are crammed with anything else. http://www.steampowered.com/platform/update_history/Source%20SDK.html
Anyone got a link to that Cheaple rig as a real Citizen head? With eyes and everything. I think I saw it here. [editline]12th July 2017[/editline] Also includes the cut female citizen maps, Laura, Linda and Tamm. I swore I saw a pack of them somewhere
Here
I've always liked the leak's fire effects compared to the current source fire particles, they seem much more bigger and dramatic than the underwhelming swarm of fire we have now
I agree, which is why I was looking into it. It really shouldn't be that hard since the code for all of those effects is still there, but it just doesn't work for some reason. Granted, I've only been looking into for a few hours over two days, but it's still stupid. I mainly wanted to get the smoke effects working and the flares that the fire produced. The smoke effect used a special shader that allowed the particles to receive dynamic light. I've always loved the look. [editline]2nd August 2017[/editline] Just to clarify, the fire system you'll find in the sdk code now is based on the particle system introduced in the orange box. The old fire system before that was different, which is why I was asking for code from the sdk in 2006. The 2006 fire systems can be copied into the current codebase without a problem and everything compiles but the fire effects simply do not appear in game at all. I'll have to look into this further.
Tell him to feel free to hit me up, I'm just curious what kind of problems he's having. I'm not guaranteeing that I can help, but I might be able to. I've toyed with this idea for a long time. I totally agree, while also disagreeing. It would definitely be more plausible but I'm still kinda tied to the idea of a "full beta recreation." Using the retail voice acting, storyline, etc could be molded to "beta" stuff enough to get by but idk, it wouldn't really feel as satisfying to me. On the flipside, I think it would be super fun to reshape the retail elements and story to fit in all of the cut content in some way.
Im pretty sure you can do like the BMS guys did. Just change the exits and enters here and there.
I also believe the beta, and hell the 2004 fire effects not only look better, more realistic, but also blend A LOT better with the environment. The particle fire we have now has that yellow-ish white color thats really ugly. The orange color of the old sprites is a lot more striking in my opinion.

Only this time it won't fall apart when looked at from above. Best of both worlds.
lets be real, was there really anything visually impressive about the current state of hl2 after the steampipe/engine update
the texture upgrade and phong is nice, I guess. ep2 Antlion gibbing too. though I hate the zombie flinching that came witih ep1
Available. (C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/SourceSDK/vpks/depot_211_dir.vpk)
That's actually hl2+episodic but i guess it works. where one can find a even older sdk?
lets be real, was there really anything visually impressive about the current state of hl2 after the steampipe/engine update
Yeah, the drop in quality is pretty visually impressive. Just, y'know, not in a good way.

Apparently trying to restore the fire effects from the leak is a pain in the ass.
I've always liked the leak's fire effects compared to the current source fire particles, they seem much more bigger and dramatic than the underwhelming swarm of fire we have now
Remember Ep2 upgraded fire, so did portal, but i guess not much. you can also find some fire prototype on Source Particle Benchmark and in current ep2. the latter is on the game files but not in particles_manifest and it is broken iirc
lets be real, was there really anything visually impressive about the current state of hl2 after the steampipe/engine update
Obviously nope; Valve partially failed with the backport, the worst part is the sdk itself 10/10
Well, I totally love it when I replay HL2 and Black Mesa East is forced into fullbright.
Solution to that: either enable HDR (those maps have no LDR and it been since Orange Box update not steampipe, mind) or recompile the maps with vrad -both (you cant recompile lighting for the original maps because it complains about stale unless you have the sdk used) or play old engine hl2 or the maps before 2007 update.
Well, this sucks.. Thing is the model looks completely fine in modelling programs when I import animations onto it, but after compiling and testing ingame the thing is completely mangled up. Any suggestions? [sp]No, "Don't bother with the shitty model" is not a solution[/sp]
I could release a version of it that I have so you don't have to mess around with that old garbage anymore :v: [editline]3rd August 2017[/editline] It is a whole new model rigged to retail combine soldier anims though.
Yeah I'd appreciate that if I can't get the model working with its original animations intact.

Also, I got the leak-styled fire and smoke working in sdk2013: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/wkacvKv.jpg[/thumb] That stupid glowing effect still isn't working though.

Even without the lighting or glowing effects this is still a thousand times better then the stock fire.

Also that Leak HUD. Damn how the hell you managed it to get working i can't even find the proper places to edit the code. All I got working so far are the Leak quickinfo brackets.
