Well, some have been on the same day of the Summer Sale, like Love and War. It was disaster in terms of server stability, so I hope they don't release it on the same day. But knowing Valve, they'll do it on the 22nd to promote it during the sale.
Well, I just hope we get that small sign like the private taunt videos so we can actually know if something is happening.

I belive this is already in progress due to the large amount of unused weapon inspection animations in the game files
I belive this is already in progress due to the large amount of unused weapon inspection animations in the game files
Those could just as easily be for skins in new weapon slots. The inspect animations break on a lot of unlocks, and I personally don't trust them to go the extra mile unless prodded to in some way. Hopefully this is enough. @ _ @ [editline]20th December 2016[/editline] THEY'RE LISTENINGGGG
Well, I just hope we get that small sign like the private taunt videos so we can actually know if something is happening.
I'm not sure why anyone is worried there wont be an update, it's not unusual for the Christmas update to ship the week before Christmas and Christmas is probably either their first or second highest source of revenue in the game (I'm not sure if the Summer update would be higher or not). Just give the TF2 team time, we'll get it this week. I would rather they take an extra day or two to iron out as many bugs as possible then to ship it a day or two early with more bugs.

I'm no programmer but wouldn't it take a while for any changes to be coded? If the update ships Thursday, the tfteam would have read through the 6 pages, decide which ones they want to implement, and program the changes in 1 and half - 2 days. Honestly I don't think that's anywhere near enough time.

The way I see it, is that we are waiting 1 extra week for an update that will disappoint. I could be wrong and maybe this will be one of the best updates and maybe the wait is totally justified.
They wait to see you all writhe in the agony of suspense.
Maybe the Christmas update won't even be an update and it'll just be the last comic issue
Maybe the Christmas update won't even be an update and it'll just be the last comic issue
Nah, too soon for that. Need to at least wait 1 more year then we get hyped.
I wouldn't expect that issue tracker to mean anything. That's a single guy managing issues. Managing issues is entirely separate from actually working on what the issues ask for.
I hope we at least get some new strange festives/festive weapons for this update or at least some strangifiers for weapons like the black rose and the big kill.
Yeah, seeing tawdry lights adorn our favorite weapons is always the highlight of an update worth waiting six months for.

I imagine that most, if not all of the people who work on game engine stuff are working on Source 2 not Source 1.
Yeah, seeing tawdry lights adorn our favorite weapons is always the highlight of an update worth waiting six months for.
nobodies forcing you to wait... i mean your getting free updates, the game is still here for you to play in-between and your not loosing anything
Do you really believe I don't play TF2 in-between updates?
That's what they said about the quantum crouch.
Quantum Crouch caused serious exploits with people getting outside of the map though. All seeing shadows through walls does is occasionally gives you a brief wall hack. I'm not saying Valve is never going to fix it but I doubt they'll bother fixing something so minor.
nobodies forcing you to wait... i mean your getting free updates, the game is still here for you to play in-between and your not loosing anything
The game is need of updates unfortunately. The balancing is such a mess at this point I'm just waiting for the game to be improved. Look at classes like Heavy, which are rendered nearly useless to the team at this point.
Well, realistically, if it's gonna be a proper two day Update, we are guaranteed a Blog Post tonight, no?
11:26 valve time. I'm going to assume no. [editline]no[/editline] Since when recently have updates been "proper"?
Well, realistically, if it's gonna be a proper two day Update, we are guaranteed a Blog Post tonight, no?
I would love another proper, multi-day blog post like we got with MyM if the update is going ship on Thursday. I really used to love the multiday updates and I'm so happy they brought that back with MyM, it really helps build up anticipation for the update.

In r/tf2 that feature was requested multiple times, so Valve is probably working to make all weapons inspectable.
The real question is will the update work properly on day 1.
I'm looking at old update comics and I can't help but realize that I've forgotten how genuinely entertaining the TF2 comics are, especially when compared with Overwatch's (mostly) phoned-in, predictable lore. I really hope we get a new TF Comic for Christmas...
New TF comic reveals Heavy is gay with a man named Theodore.
i don't mind overwatch's gay reveal but you can't make heavy gay this late in the game everyone knows heavy's one true love is his minigun
i don't mind overwatch's gay reveal but you can't make heavy gay this late in the game everyone knows heavy's one true love is his minigun
I liked how they handled Tracer's sexuality in the comic rather than having the main writer say she's gay on Twitter.
I really hope they don't actually make Pauling being lesbian canon not because I'm against gay people, but because I refuse to believe that anyone in TF2 is in any capacity capable of romance
I liked how they handled Tracer's sexuality in the comic rather than having the main writer say she's gay on Twitter.
yeahhh...that bit still bothers me, actually. like miss pauling as a lesbian would be cool and all, but virtually none of her characterization seems to properly hint at it? expiration date (which differs drastically from her depictions in the comics) stops just short of officially pairing her with Scout, which would make bisexuality/heterosexuality more likely, while the comics themselves show no sexual or romantic interest in other human beings, just a dedication to her job. I mean, you could interpret her loyalty to the Administrator in that way, but there's nothing indicating any form of romance in that relationship. it just feels like Pinkerton was like "MISS PAULING IS A LESBIAN" to cash in on that sweet social justice controversy appeal without creating anything in the lore that leans on it.
