I really hope they don't actually make Pauling being lesbian canon not because I'm against gay people, but because I refuse to believe that anyone in TF2 is in any capacity capable of romance
But the Spy was capable of romancing Scout's Mom. Also Solider and Zhanna have the beginnings of a relationship in the comics.
What? I thought Pauling's "she's gay" thing was either a joke or deconfirmed later?
I'm looking at old update comics and I can't help but realize that I've forgotten how genuinely entertaining the TF2 comics are, especially when compared with Overwatch's (mostly) phoned-in, predictable lore. I really hope we get a new TF Comic for Christmas...
I don't think thats particularly fair. TF2 sets a really high bar when it comes to both characters and comedy. I don't think overwatch could ever compare in that regard.
yeahhh...that bit still bothers me, actually. like miss pauling as a lesbian would be cool and all, but virtually none of her characterization seems to properly hint at it? expiration date (which differs drastically from her depictions in the comics) stops just short of officially pairing her with Scout, which would make bisexuality/heterosexuality more likely, while the comics themselves show no sexual or romantic interest in other human beings, just a dedication to her job. I mean, you could interpret her loyalty to the Administrator in that way, but there's nothing indicating any form of romance in that relationship. it just feels like Pinkerton was like "MISS PAULING IS A LESBIAN" to cash in on that sweet social justice controversy appeal without creating anything in the lore that leans on it.
If they could figure out a way to wrap Pauling being a lesbian into a joke against scout that would have been gold. But as it stands it wouldn't really benefit the story at all.
What? I thought Pauling's "she's gay" thing was either a joke or deconfirmed later?
Iirc its just "headcanon" from one of the comics writers. And for that matter iirc the comics aren't actually canon to valves story anyway.
I really hope they don't actually make Pauling being lesbian canon not because I'm against gay people, but because I refuse to believe that anyone in TF2 is in any capacity capable of romance
IDK, I really liked the Zhana x Soldier romance. Whether it's a "real romance" is a debate in itself though. It was a fun bit of comic relief though.

They are all psychotic hat fetishists.

now you're asking the real hard hitting questions, my dude
What if the romantic relationship was with a hat?
we've already got heavy with his minigun, i wouldn't be surprised demoman x eyelander when
I wouldn't be surprised if we get a "update" similar to the Scream Fortress from this year. My guess is that the only thing we will get this year is community cosmetics (no festives), tf_forced_holiday 3 and the Christmas noise maker. I'm not expecting anything new.
New TF comic reveals Heavy is gay with a man named Theodore.
Considering how they went with the "Pyro is a girl" joke for TFC Pyro I could easily see the comic's plot being resolved with TFC Heavy being in a relationship/reunited with TFC Medic
Can I just state, that if we ARE getting a Christmas update. This is pretty damn late to do it.. Just my two cents.. Probably could have done it a week ago. That is, if we're even getting an update at all.

That is, if we're even getting an update at all.
Seriously this again? Every recent Christmas update besides Tough Break has come out the week before Christmas between the 20th and 22nd. We're in the normal Christmas update period this week. Is it really that hard to look at the wiki to see when Christmas updates normally come out before making statements like it's pretty late for the update? Why would Valve not do a Christmas update? It's likely either their highest or second highest grossing update of the year.

when do yall think the update will be optimistic-today winner-tomorrow funny- Friday, Saturday, Sunday disagree- after christmas, but a "winter" update still dumb- no update correct group will have a random winner drawn prize is 5.55 ref
But Valve doesn't work on the weekends
So don't pick that option.
But Valve doesn't work on the weekends
the ratings were chosen for a reason
yeahhh...that bit still bothers me, actually. like miss pauling as a lesbian would be cool and all, but virtually none of her characterization seems to properly hint at it? expiration date (which differs drastically from her depictions in the comics) stops just short of officially pairing her with Scout, which would make bisexuality/heterosexuality more likely, while the comics themselves show no sexual or romantic interest in other human beings, just a dedication to her job. And yet the Demoman is one of the finest examples of inclusionary practices in gaming, seeing as to how Demoman not once falls into tokenism by drawing undue attention to his "blackness." He's a guy with a distinct personality that just so happens to be black, and that's perfect.
Heavy likes women with red hair. For the most part I consider everything he says in Poker Night canon to his character. Just not the actually game itself.
The only thing I can remember that focus on demo's race is the "black Scottish cyclops" thing (and some cosmetics that reference other black characters).
I hope we at least get some new strange festives/festive weapons for this update or at least some strangifiers for weapons like the black rose and the big kill.
I'm just hoping they don't cheap out with a festivizer again like last year. [editline]21st December 2016[/editline]
The real question is will the update work properly on day 1.
Until Valve learns to test stress levels on servers, that's a guaranteed no.

As the saying goes: if it's done right, you don't notice it.
As the saying goes: if it's done right, you don't notice it.
There are two sides to that. Sometimes it stands out because it's forced but sometimes it stands out simply because you're not used to it. Nothing about the Tracer thing was forced, replace the woman with a man and it's the exact same comic, but it stands out because it's more unusual to see video game characters be gay than a different race. There will be true equality in games when this kind of thing doesn't stand out.
One thing I'm looking foward to is Valve Removing the Tough Break cases from the drop list And the #90, #91 and #92 which were added im February/March 2015 I would also love a new crate with the rest of the Strange weapons we don't already have
But Valve doesn't work on the weekends
They've done a couple weekend updates over the past few years though
Interesting update on the Github situation: Our friend, Mr Kisak, is not a part of any dev team. Instead, he's a community moderator, and his job right now seems to be to comb through Github. He's going through basically every bug report/feature request on Github, labelling them appropriately, and asking the OPs if the bugs are still present and able to be reproduced. My inbox has been full of his posts and actions in each thread, and he has quite the amount of work ahead of him. However, judging by the fact that Valve has finally put a guy on this- did we even have community moderators before?- it looks like we can expect some real effort being made to fix certain problems with the game. Additionally, we now also know that, one way or another, if it's on Github someone at Valve is seeing it. This is a huge boost in my confidence for the company. If they have a guy on dedicated bug-finding duty, we may see some long-standing TF2 issues fixed. If you have a bug report or a reasonable feature request, I absolutely recommend submitting it to the Github. If nothing else, it will be seen. Be sure to read the Readme first, though, and don't be a dick. We don't wanna scare this guy off.
We're working on a mandatory update for TF2. We should have it ready soon. This is the Smissmas update. -Eric
