Worst Smissmas ever, hands down; worst year for TF2, hands down. They didn't even give us rebalances--what a complete farce.
Finally glad they have a better end of round system plus autobalance now
Reminder: they didn't make a proper Halloween update because they were busy improving matchmaking, Our improvement is just the autobalance system they made years ago. This update has no other game-affecting content. I was only expecting weapon changes and I've been let down.
'See you in 2017!' really kills it, huh? Unless it's some masterful reverse psychology, but probably not.
Here's hoping for a January / February update.
I'm extremely suspicious that we'll be getting a day 2/followup update. This was way too brief of an update to be the entirety of it. Rebalances are a staple of the final year update, but they flat out end with "see you next year!". I'm almost certain they're going to release something bigger later At least I hope so, or this game is really fucked.

If there's not some sort of "Surprise!" announcement, the subreddit is going to turn into hell on high water.

When I was at valve Driller said the next major update would be out "by the end of the year". Unless he meant smissmas (which I doubt) the next update should be out soon. If the next campaign comes out in the summer that's fucking bullshit though
you know, even if this is them playing cheeky with us what the fuck? HOW COULD THEY THINK THIS IS A GOOD IDEA? ARE THEY JUST IGNORING HOW PISSED EVERYONE IS WITH THEM?
They can't have been spending the last 6 months on this update. There has to be more ready to come soon.
They cancelled halloween for this? again?
Consider the following: They have been spending the last 6 months... on the next update, that was originally planned for Smissmas, but wasn't ready in time.
Sale's through the 11th January, don't expect a "Bamboozled! Here is the actual Major Update!" - alongside of the condescending "lul see you in 2017" And I was so happy to expect a fun tf2 Campaign during my holidays :( I mean the Casual Rework is amazing, but man, this is just making me sad Atleast we'll probably get something in Q1/Q2?
Is the tf team so small they cant even make major updates that close together anymore? How big is the team estimated to be currently? This is just sad.
Consider the following: They have been spending the last 6 months... on the next update, that was originally planned for Smissmas, but wasn't ready in time.
That's what I'm thinking, but I think they should have told us that.
I genuinely don't understand what the TF2 team have even been doing this past year. All we've gotten is a matchmaking service that nobody likes and one set of weapon rebalances. I don't understand how they have accomplished so little.
The next update better be a gift from above because of this year
if they end the year like this after I've spent a good portion of my time since MyM defending their attempts to modernize TF2 and assuring people to give them a chance/encouraging people to come back to the game, I'm sorry I'm just going to be so damn pissed. we deserved better than this. we deserved a thousand times better than this. and before anyone says shit about sky-high expectations, once upon a time Valve and Team Fortress 2 meant fucking quality and if they outright tell us what the next update is going to be (What We're Up To), we can expect them to deliver. this is just...fuck, dude. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed in the TF Team.
Atleast we'll probably get something in Q1/Q2?
It's kind of frustrating that everything has to be worded this way. Yeah, maybe? Maybe not? Who knows? Not us.
What a complete PR nightmare. This isn't 2012, people aren't going to giggle and say "You got me!" if they release rebalances tomorrow. They're going to create a grudge with the community for holidng off the substancial changes until even CLOSER to christmas. And if they don't release rebalances at all this year, then everyone will lose complete hope in the pathetic remains of the team. In what world would anybody on the team think this is even remotely a good idea?
How big is the tf team?

At least we got a bug fix for the Racho Relaxo
Personally i just think this is an alright smismass. Sure it's not everything we waited or wanted. It's still something, be that a bad or a good thing.
On the bright side, no more getting matched into servers on the other side of the world. The autobalance is cool too, really disappointed ad-hoc connections are still not allowed though.

I know we don't need a "itoldyouso" guy but this halloween truly was a historical turning point for the game. it was the shape of things left to come. halloween 2015 at least made some sense as it was a wild mix of nostalgia and community testing grounds...
What scares me the most is, what if this is what Valve considers a Major Update they skipped Halloween for... The power of delusional and positive thinking hopes for the rest to come in the next 5 weeks but boy geel, that dude better has something to say for himself
At this point I can't really be angry at TF2 team at all. Sure, I didn't get what I wanted, but considering how many people TF2 team actually consists of, it's all understandable.
There is nothing to defend here. If they had said "We are working on a major update, but sadly it wasn't ready in time. Look forward to it in early 2017!" I would forgive them completely. But they have said nothing and we're left with nothing. What are we supposed to think of them?
Why cant more folks over at valve take interest in this game? Is dota or VR really that fun to work on?
What scares me the most is, what if this is what Valve considers a Major Update they skipped Halloween for...
Nah, they don't. Major updates get their own pages and all.
How big is the tf team?
Believe it or not, but ~15
