Major Update Speculation V35 - A Distinctive Lack of Communication

Casual isn't fixed until they bring back stopwatch mode imo
tf2 doing a promo for sous vide cooking?
that's weird.
i can't remember the last time the tf team had anything in the bag.
Can we get the bloody stop watch system back already?
If you want stopwatch go play comp
That's what I tend to hear when I complain about payload games going longer than necessary
There may as well not have been any update, so what's the difference?
Except there was an update, obviously it's not a major one like people here were expecting, but it fixed stuff up with casual that I'm pretty happy with.
well, this taunt makes a lot more sense, now

edit: and so does the fact that they're based in seattle.
Why do the tomatoes have a cubemap?

These things should have been taken care of months ago, and they do not justify taking up a major update slot.

Sure, I've barely touched TF2 since MyM released cause I found it borderline unplayable but they've been sorting out issues with Casual, of course taking way too long I agree, but what they've been turning it into over the past few updates have made me like it a lot more than I did originally and have been starting to play it more often again.
there wasn't even a disappointing pyro picture this time valve, jesus christ
I think the most gut-wrenching aspect of this whole sordid ordeal is that r/tf2 is collectively adulating Valve for making minor adjustments to Casual that should have been implemented months ago in a minor update. How are they so easily contented? Is it simple stupidity, or is there something even more nefarious at play?
A mixture of Stockholm Syndrome and being a Reddit poster.
So what are the new maps or weapons for the pryo? :))))))))))))))))))))))))
I expected nothing and I'm still a little disappointed.
I thought that they would atleast add a community map or two, because that's not as hard to add.

You're talking to someone that couldn't care any less about Valve servers/Casual.
Players can now set their maximum acceptable ping by clicking the new gear icon in the top right of the Casual and Competitive matchmaking lobby screens and choosing "Ping Settings"
Fuck yes
"Oh, I still have my stocking from last year or whenever, so I'll go ahead and open this one. Neat, they're giving out giftapults again! I have over 1500 items in my backpack, certainly I can toss something nice at someone for the holi--"
YOU DON'T HAVE ANY ELIGIBLE ITEMS TO USE WITH THIS TOOL.
...seriously? Why give them out if they're still broken, lol.

How the fuck do they go from an uninformed anti-Valve circlejerk to suffocating on Valve's collective dick with one low-effort update that addresses all of a single problem they have with the game?
What is this shit?
The TF2 team needs to communicate with us more, thats all there is to it
The Pyro update must be taking up a lot of time and resources if this was the best we could get for Chrimbus. That's why I argued a few pages ago a second party dev team might be beneficial, or at least a PR team for the TF2 team that updates us on what is going on behind the scenes
The comic isn't gameplay related at all but if you take into consideration how late each chapter of the comic has been released and how lackluster the last couple "major" updates have been, it paints a pretty big picture on Valve's attitude toward TF2
One of there biggest game modes, MvM, hasn't been updated in three years, and there was tons of hype and speculation leading up to it's release that seemed like it was going to add an extra layer to the game. They even went as far as to make ARGs for it
That all said, the community is what is keeping TF2 alive. It's very much a legacy game now, and I wish Valve would just come out and tell us "yea guys, we don't have very much else planned for this game so just expect minimal or community focused updates throughout the rest of it's lifespan"
You're talking to someone that couldn't care any less about Valve servers/Casual.
well, frankly, tough shit dude
valve's a business, they want to make money
people who play casual outnumber people who don't, therefore more money
that's just how it be

I've said before that for the most part, Facepunch is about the best that the TF2 community has to offer, and R/TF2 is about the worst. These are the people who wanted to make the "Gentlemen" meme an actual cosmetic a few months back.
YES MORE TAUNTS, my wallet will definitely go to tf2 this year. :speechless:
Nothing is actually bad with the update itself, it's just disappointing that they didn't include rebalances

no, we're all terrible
just a different kind of terrible

I'd say TFTV is the best, FP 2nd, /r/tf2 3rd, and steam forums 4th
Well, theres 17 items, but really 15 since two are elite. Tiers arent ever going to go away, are they?
You're talking to someone that couldn't care any less about Valve servers/Casual.
Okay..? Apologies for daring to have a conversation about an aspect of the game.

what a goof
God fucking damn it Valve.
No MvM ticket in the christmas stocking this year?!!!
That's it. No more TF2 for me.
Can they get even more greedier, they throw us this make-shift update for Christmas without anything interesting in it, and now they took away the only good thing the stocking gives.

Can other people join him at the table or something? Seems like a pretty useless taunt if that isn't the case.
in an increasingly curious event, the schema lists a promo for a "ChefSteps Joule"
...which... as far as I can tell, is a legitimate, not videogame related in the slightest, sous vide machine. (sealed bag of food cooked in a controlled temperature)
anyway. https://www.chefsteps.com/joule

Most bizarre crossover ever?

well, this taunt makes a lot more sense, now

edit: and so does the fact that they're based in seattle.
Gabe Newell is involved with ChefSteps, providing them a "small loan" and some business advice as they were starting up. So that answers that.
The strange festive kukri also does something weird. Sometimes when the backpack icon generates, the base weapon goes solid white, or a mix of solid green and solid white. None of the others do this so far. Only thing I can guess is something is really off with the shader on that one.
Also, when festivizing items, the icons are pretty broken. They're hugely overscaled, and half the icon is cut off. I festivized 8 weapons, and all of them did that. They look fine once they're in the backpack (except the kukri, which is having some sort of shader freak out).
