Well, I might as well do a small poll while the Smissmas aftermath is in swing. I'm gonna ask when you expect the Pyro Update to arrive. Rate Optimistic - January, February Rate Useful - March, April, May Rate Agree - June, July, August Rate Late - September & Beyond
December isn't an option? Pffft. :weeb:
I don't think the TF Team is going to disappear until the weekend, so if we see bugfixes it'll be tonight or tomorrow. It's definitely a little early to expect them now, since we're pretty early in the day. I can verify that at least one Valve employee is working today- Kisak, the guy assigned to watching Github, has been active there all morning. Since the bugs I reported have been labelled, there's a decent chance that the TF Team is at least aware of the problems with the update right now. Also, can anyone verify- does Valve take the last week of December off? I feel like they might, to ensure they're home on Christmas/take a decent break, but I haven't heard any information indicating when their vacations actually are.
I know that employees with family out of the country take longer off, and I'm not sure where the TF team members are from.
If the Pyro update gets released before March I will raffle away 3 keys
Yeah I really don't see this update happening before the summer either. I'm gonna one-up you and raffle 5 keys if it does. Hopefully someone else remembers this post though because I know I won't
I really hate the changes to matchmaking. I liked that you could kick back after a match and just join a completely different game with a new map and gamemode without having to press anything. Now for some reason all the games I join are almost empty.
If the Pyro update gets released before March I will raffle away 3 keys
I'll give away five if it comes out before the typical summer release. EDIT: Yes, :toxx:
I'll do absolutely nothing if the update comes out.
I'm going to play the game if the update comes out. What about the rest of you?
I'll actually fucking play the game if a good update comes out. Haven't had to do that since tough break.
I'd like to clarify that I don't think that the next major update is coming out in 2016. Driller told me it would but that was just an offhand comment and not as any sort of guarantee. He also said this 6 months ago so there's ample time for them to realize it needed to be delayed.
I'm just gonna be real- TF2 or not, 2016 blew in nearly every concievable way. Fuck this year, man. Us not getting our major update for the first time since the game's release is just the cherry on top of this shit sundae of a year for me.

Any update on the writers of the comic? Or are we still at that "end of year" deadline?
Wow... I honestly only like one of the items in this update. Luckily, it's a commando grade one. But good golly the rest just seem incredibly lacklustre to me. Am I alone in this or have Valve apparently just got a fetish for bland looking knit caps that are vaguely holiday themed? Looking forward to the Easter update where we get six different completely circular, brightly coloured dome hats in various patterns, all of which have the word "egg" in their name. Oh, and an "elite" grade hat that's just an entire rabbit sitting on your head.
John Shoenick, a member of the TF Team, commented on my bug report about players not being matched in after map votes. [editline]22nd December 2016[/editline] To clarify, what he said seems likely. I've been matched into a lot of servers with few players, and a few people have reported seeing new joiners after a map vote.
TF2 looks like it's really on its last legs. It's a real shame, it was (and still kinda is) my favourite game.
I'm not scared of TF2 dying, per se, just that it will fail to grow due to the TF Team not listening to what we want and not doing what we need to spur growth.
I like how the first Heavy exclusive taunt that comes out in a coon's age is total shit and makes no sense.
While the shedding of previously well known community contributors and creators will not hinder the game in any way, it already creates a drastically different environment for the game when there's no longer the same people covering and helping the game. The amount of invite players who quit for overwatch alone has left a drastic effect on the competitive environment as invite just further becomes the top two teams playing in a division full of intermediate teams forced up to fill quota. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the only thing that can kill TF2 is Valve themselves- and goddamn if they aren't trying their hardest to do so right about now.
Forget the Pyro Pack, when do you think the Heavy pack is coming? 2017: Funny 2018: Zing 2019 and Beyond: Agree Never: Disagree

[editline]22nd December 2016[/editline] The only thing they shared with me about the next major update is that they expected it to be out "by the end of the year." Obviously it didn't work out that way.

i am surprised no new contract campaigns started this year, unless you count the end of tough break and the 2 or so new merasmissions.
FYI, John Schoenick is Jill.
Oh yeah, I knew. I was typing the post on my phone and didn't feel like adding that tidbit.
festive backpack icons - bugged map votes - bugged (it was stuck like this) map vote thumbnails - bugged rolling matches - bugged with no new players CELT codec - bugged voluntary autobalance - bugged i would say about 80-90% of this update's new additions were broken. and there were still no new maps, weapons, or rebalances. no gameplay. worst smissmas? worst smissmas.
No I understand, I was just seeing if they had shown you anything that would possibly point towards the work not hitting a deadline.
You're guessing and speculating too much on your videos. A lot of people saw your previous video, hinting pyro update coming on the smissmas update and your latest video you speculate they missed a deadline. This led to a lot of people being not happy about the update, and partly for a good reason as we have witnessed for the past 24 hours. When we talk about Valve, things happen in Valve time, not when the previous years behaviour suggests. Obviously there was something else going on at Valve for the past year, because nothing major happened on CSGO either. No new operation, even though players waited for one, and so did the tf2 players waited the pyro update. Just because "it was expected to happen". But there is no logic behind it, things were not ready to be released, so they didn't release anything. It's just how they operate. There is never a certain deadline set.
Well, for all the people that hope for a "lol jape" Today's the last Update day. After that, the usual Holiday-time will break in, which will strap itself till the 7th of January - the earliest date we might get an Update at.
