festive backpack icons - bugged map votes - bugged (it was stuck like this) map vote thumbnails - bugged rolling matches - bugged with no new players CELT codec - bugged voluntary autobalance - bugged i would say about 80-90% of this update's new additions were broken. and there were still no new maps, weapons, or rebalances. no gameplay. worst smissmas? worst smissmas.
Quality testing doesn't exist.
Why is anyone expecting Valve to magically give us an update early next year? We haven't had a major update in the first half of the year since 2013.
A, because we're overdue for our Winter Major Update. B, because the Jungle update submission deadline indicates a Spring release window.
Why is anyone expecting Valve to magically give us an update early next year? We haven't had a major update in the first half of the year since 2013.
Because we love this game and want new things to play with.
Why is anyone expecting Valve to magically give us an update early next year? We haven't had a major update in the first half of the year since 2013.
Because this Smissmas hasn't been Major, and the things they clearly said they are working on are not shipped yet.
Because we love this game and want new things to play with.
I love TF2 as well, but I'm not expecting miracles after this year's track record.
You're guessing and speculating too much on your videos. A lot of people saw your previous video, hinting pyro update coming on the smissmas update and your latest video you speculate they missed a deadline. This led to a lot of people being not happy about the update, and partly for a good reason as we have witnessed for the past 24 hours. When we talk about Valve, things happen in Valve time, not when the previous years behaviour suggests. Obviously there was something else going on at Valve for the past year, because nothing major happened on CSGO either. No new operation, even though players waited for one, and so did the tf2 players waited the pyro update. Just because "it was expected to happen". But there is no logic behind it, things were not ready to be released, so they didn't release anything. It's just how they operate. There is never a certain deadline set.
VNN didn't lead anyone in mus to think anything. There was nothing illogical about expecting a major update this winter- not only was Geel told by Driller it should be ready by now, not only did Nathan Vetterlain tell us he'd recorded new voicelines for the next major update, not only did this year's What We're Up To blog post perfectly mirror last year's (which described Tough Break being in development for the end of the year), not only did it fit the Valve-Made-Major-Update-Every-Six-Months scheme, but we have always had a major update this time of year. Get the TF Team's dick out of your mouth and your thumb out of your ass. People have every right and reason to feel misled, disappointed and angry. Even the little morsels they tossed us yesterday are fucking bugged.
I'm just sad. I want to play this game and love it like I used to. I tried earlier today but the gameplay was broken, unfun, and finding a server was impossible due to Casual's mess of a server and the legacy browser being a barrel of terrible trade servers  They really killed it in 2016. Every move they made this year was a disaster. It went from bad to worse with every update.
Guys sorry I've not visited this thread nor played TF2 for the last two years but has the cactus and asteroid maps been finished ? And what about the comics ?
Guys sorry I've not visited this thread nor played TF2 for the last two years but has the cactus and asteroid maps been finished ? And what about the comics ?
Both are incomplete. Maps are effectively scrapped/shelfed and comic has been on hiatus for nearly a year.
Both are incomplete. Maps are effectively scrapped/shelfed and comic has been on hiatus for nearly a year.
what valve why the fuck
you know we're deep when valve doesn't even want to make decorated weapons anymore i mean the last milestone was "adding a reskin is too much work" but I can't wait for the next level
It truly feels like we've had a drought since Tough Break.
To me it just feels like valve REALLY REALLY wanted to make things right pre-mym, suffered massive backlash for alienating casual players while ALSO letting down competitive players, and it was such a hard hit to their morale that they just gave up.
By the way, can we talk about this thing? I mean, I knew the pyro was a fan favourite among furries because of the gas mask, but isn't this taking it a bit too far?
We're overdue for a noteworthy major update since 2014.
Everytime there's a crappy major update, I think back to Love and War and go "those were the days"

Just please tell me it cant be painted neon pink
If the next major update does not include the Pyro pack, I will say/record a humiliating thing of your choice for a random person who rates this post. If it does, the very same person needs to say/record a humiliating thing of *my* choice. Major Update Speculation. With stakes.
Just wanted to mention, this is still in effect. However, since neither Valve or the FP community is counting Smissmass as a Major Update (for good reason!), it doesn't count for the sake of this bet, either. However, the point still stands. If the next update labelled as a Major Update does not include the Pyro Pack, I will still follow the terms I laid out in my original post.
Are you just trying to get out of saying something bad about spy?

Or if you are going to be optimistic, might aswell hope for a "lol bamboozled" today, but that wont happen anyways.
Are you just trying to get out of saying something bad about spy?
No, I made my terms very clear in the OP. It needed to be a major update. I specified this specifically because I anticipated the possibility of some minor bug-fixing patch or another "preparations for the next major update" patch before the release of the update proper. Had I not specified it needed to be a major update, something like that could've resulted in me losing the bet unfairly. In this case, Valve decided to skip out on releasing a major update entirely. I didn't want or anticipate this either, but I still didn't lose the bet as according to my own rules laid out in my original post. Call it a technicality or whatever, but I wrote it like that for a reason.
Since Scream Fortress - which has been tinier than this Smissmas
Uh, how? SF actually added content in the form of new maps and contracts. All Smissmass has is tweaks to Casual (that should've been done anyways), misc bug fixes and new cosmetics. This isn't the first time an update has passed by without being labelled a major update- hell, Summer Event 2013, which could very rightfully be considered a major update, wasn't counted as one for whatever reason.
- counted as a Major Update, I'm relatively sure they just, as always, forgot about it. Or if you are going to be optimistic, might aswell hope for a "lol bamboozled" today, but that wont happen anyways.
We can dream.
Valve could have at least made PL 5curve and PL Millstone official maps considering they're already in the game and they have non-Halloween versions. It's not even that hard to come up with easy content for an update, and Valve still opts for doing nothing instead.
i want to die.
If furries can buy so much commissions of art, then they can buy this :godzing:

If we were going to get a surprise day 2 it would have happened already. Hell, we would have had a blogpost for them to add a day 2 onto in the first place. I think we can probably just settle on the realization that they legitimately believe that after a hard years work the game doesn't need any fancy CONTENT to end off with.
