Yeah, GitHub's bug tracker's kisak-valve couldn't be a good indicator, because he even did stuff in New Year and Christmas! He closes issues and discusses about them every day! He even does it at 5 AM at DST (Where Valve HQ is located)
im honestly really starting to like casual, and it barely takes anytime to find a server, i selected all KOTH maps, with the low lowest ping cap, and it took less than 8 seconds to find a sever
honestly i would love a casual 6v6 mode, or unranked 6v6

I have a feeling it'd be as dead as competitive 6v6 is currently...
Only because 6s matchmaking is a bit lacklustre in players lately.
And no offense to 6s players, but I don't blame new players for not touching it.

I don't think it's the mode itself, at least not directly at least, then problems it faces.
After the beta ended I ended up not jumping into 6v6 because of problems I had during the beta that apparently weren't addressed. Biggest one being queuing up for matches, only for them to be abruptly ending thanks to people leaving and then the match is dismissed like it never happened. Every time I ended up winning a match this happened, and most of the time when we lost no one would leave. It felt like ranks were worthless at this point because climbing was literally impossible.
I believe they now have it that a bot replaces people when someone abandons, but if multiple people leave it still closes the match and rewards no one a win or loss last I heard. Which is nonsense regardless. I have no interest in the mode unless it allows the winners to win and the losers to loser, maybe give the option to continue or forfeit if someone quits. If the team with a mann down continues and wins, make sure the idiot who left still gets credited as a loss. Bots I guess can still fill spots at least I guess.
I actually had a lot of fun at the start though, before this garbage kept happening.
Competitive Mode and actual 6v6- or, Hell, any TF2 comp format- have no relation beyond a lower player count
I sometimes wonder if all the Valve employees are clones of George Costanza.
Here's exactly the problem though: they barely did anything for TF2 this year. Don't tell me they didn't have time to look over the comic, because I won't believe it.
This was the last issue until they decided that they were totally on schedule and could absolutely handle a 7th entry, so this must mean the plot has been finalized and the script finished by now. It must've been done for years. They couldn't have been sitting at their desks doing nothing for 3 years. Not to mention, the art itself must've also been done for the better part of 2016.
I know Dota had a handful of comics and there's the occasionnal update every now and then, but other than that we have NO idea what is going on at Valve. We don't even know if they make games anymore, what their projects are beyond some VR demos that are just there, and if they even plan to do anything in the short or long term.
Valve is just the company that manages Steam nowadays as far as I'm concerned, and I am absolutely stumped that this would require so much manpower that it makes finishing and releasing a comic that is near completion impossible. Their only excuse would be that they have some sort of big project that we will obiviously never hear from, otherwise I'd have no fucking clue what even Valve is anymore.
And as proven in above comments, it's not like they're spending that time on proofreading to make sure the story is coherent to the lore and actually spellchecked. Hell, as well as those two typos, there was the whole Demoman things from 4 (patch on the wrong eye, then drawn with two eyes) that never should've gotten past, considering these people have been fans of TF2 for years prior to working on it. Even non-fans could point out black dude has an eye patch and blows up things something the comic team apparently can't manage.
Besides, how much of VR, etc can really be blamed for the comics? Would Makani, a comic maker, even do anything there? And even if she did have an illustration or two to contribute, it wouldn't take a year and a half to do it. Even Pinkerton and Wolpaw's contributation couldn't take that much effort that they had to put everything else on the backlog.
Honestly, it's an embarrassment. There's people in the community who do better-proofread fan comics in a fraction of the time as a hobby. Completely just for the love of the series, they take on huge projects and do it while taking college, job and social life into account. Hell, we've got SFMers making frigging movie length things in the amount of time it takes Valve to shit out some comics which they didn't even bother to run spellcheck with.
I think it's really obvious that Valve's structure doesn't work. Maybe it was revolutionary back then, but ultimately you can't just let your employees do whatever they want. Because from the updates we're getting, I can only assume "whatever they want" is "party." And somebody has to do the steam tickets, somebody (preferably someone who actually has a degree in it and isn't a lying asshole) should actually do PR, and somebody has to clean the bathrooms. And it doesn't matter if they don't feel like it, if they'd rather do a kegstand, it's gotta be done.
I'd fucking clean bathrooms at Valve if it meant I could say a couple of sentences to the TF Team every once in a while to tell them how much their communication sucks ass

You're probably not qualified to be a janitor at Valve.

if you were the janitor you'd be the one in charge of communication :v:
There is no janitor at valve, the employee that get the short straw have to clean the toilets. They do the same for tf2 updates.
Did TF2 just have a 120-130ish MB update or am I crazy?

You must be, it's 6AM at Valve.
You are.
Perhaps later today we'll get the obligatory "fix after major update" update
or if you are optimistic the pyro update but lul

It's a bit too early for April Fools, though.

According to SteamDB there's no new update (and it's unlikely we would get an update this time of the day). You client is probably downloading some files that it thinks are missing or corrupt.

Could be also workshop files such as maps.
Today's Thursday. Maybe a minor update?
if major updates fail to impress nowadays then I don't see the excitement in minor updates at all.

minor updates are just tiny shreds of hope and optimism that valve is still slightly willing to fix issues with this game

Minor Updates also have the potential to hint towards future stuff.
..Man, thinking back to 2016, we really had nothing really amazing. I remember how nice it felt to read through the patch notes of Gun Mettle, so many changes...
There is still the chance for the January Pyro Update, though.
You should just do yourself a favor and expect the update sometime in December.
I'm pretty optimisc and pessimist to think pyro update will fall on may 10th for some reason, not that close and not THAT far, i mean, we get like 2 big updates per year
Pyro update doesn't come any sooner than June.

that's the picture they're gonna use for the pyro update
Did we ever learn what was so classified?
