The lack of an Update Page is understandable - afterall, they got nothing large to show-off. I'd stay optimistic for the Pyro Update, though.
Do you think it's gona be our Smissmas update or just more contracts?
If we go by the last halloweens standards to draw a conclusion about the time in between the release of halloween and the pyro update, which in 2015's halloween case was tough break. We can place our expectations that the pyro update would be coming at around spring or early summer. Now tough break was an update that focused on the game as a whole and not a class so we can have some hopes of it coming earlier. Unless valve jumps the shark and reveals the update next year and says that they have made a balance update for both pyro and heavy, making the whole war pointless which with how zanny they have been lately i would not be suprised.
Do you think it's gona be our Smissmas update or just more contracts?
i imagine it'll be like another tough break update, plus a "pyro class pack" as they keep calling it with pyro weapons+achievements+balance, and maybe also a competitive matchmaking season 2 (now with placement matches!)
I love it how the only thing (other than the maps) that i found interesting in this event (the contracts) are broken. And i was hoping that the halloween event was a good time to get back into the game........
I think we can all agree and tell valve that "well i mean, they're good items but they're not really all halloween items, please be a bit more selective next time yes?" also seriously pull off the restrictions on many items. some items get it that don't really need it, and others could use the restriction. either that or Screamovision. then again we've already asked that a nabijiggaerbillion times because i'm a lazy fuck who doesn't want to keep swapping his cosmetics.
Sorry couldn't help but hear, reminded me of my one item that rocketed to the top of the workshop because I wanted to make Ghostbust knockoff goggles but they were interpreted as proposing such a feature. I need to go back because the clipping and textures and such are pretty much inexcusably bad, being from 3 years ago. I think it'd be a potentially good idea and valve has been disinterested in supporting it for the same reason as discontinuing support for Provision.
so basically milking a cow again?
so basically milking a cow again?
I was using it to illustrate that there's a lot of community support for such an idea, even outside of FP, if that's what you mean.
i find the lack of update page a much much more alarming concern
It almost feels to me like they saw themselves that the update was not significant enough to have that page.
It almost feels to me like they saw themselves that the update was not significant enough to have that page.
Or maybe a combination of both.
It almost feels to me like they saw themselves that the update was not significant enough to have that page.
Of course they did. They fucking told everyone EXACTLY what to expect.
Do you think it's gona be our Smissmas update or just more contracts?
If you are going to be overly optimistic, you could hope for a Two Cities-esque Release. The MUCH more realistic scenario is Smissmas, though, which is only 1-2 Months away afterall.
Of course they did. They fucking told everyone EXACTLY what to expect.
Yeah but, everyone didn't expect THIS level of suck I suppose.
I was gonna give it 8 sides instead of 4 and replace the TF2 tips section with ikes posts about his items
I'd download it [editline]23rd October 2016[/editline]
The item is fine but you've got to admit yourself it (alongside with many other items in this update) really didn't have a place being in a halloween crate Not that you have control over that, I'm happy you got something in but saddened valve cares so little about seasonal consistency
yeah you're right mate, I guess I was having some late-night sleep-deprived goofs cause even to me my posts look incohesive and dumb right now
Yeah but, everyone didn't expect THIS level of suck I suppose.
What is so shocking and appalling about there not being an update page for an update they explicitly stated was a low priority non-event?
i think it's clear that they've wanted to make halloween a more low-key affair since last year. not a big update, just a fun little event with a handful of new community maps and items for everyone to enjoy, plus the re-activation of all the halloween content they've accumulated over the course of eight years (which, like i've said before, is actually a lot of content for people who aren't veterans of the game like us.) they're just being a lot more up-front about it this time by not calling it a major update and not making a big update page for it. honestly, i don't blame them. we've all gotten spoiled with new gameplay features (including NPCS, whole new mechanics like spells, minigames...), fancy valve-made maps (which the artists clearly put some time into), rewards, and more, every single year (and for an event that only lasts a few weeks, no less!), but TF2 is getting old and has a small development team, who'd be better off putting their effort and development time into something that everyone can enjoy year-round, instead of something that most people will only experience for 3 weeks out of the year.
I hope the new PD map is put in the misc section, if we can fight aliums all year round what's wrong with ghosts and ghouls? we need more all-year pd maps anyways [editline]23rd October 2016[/editline] also I was thinking, the contracts not working I'm not really bothered with considering we got the update over a week early... even if we get the contracts working today or tomorrow we're still getting all of the functioning content effectively two or three days earlier than previous years also eric emailed me about the el paso poncho fix this morning so somebody might be in to update
What is so shocking and appalling about there not being an update page for an update they explicitly stated was a low priority non-event?
Excuse me but where it is said this was low priority? It certainly looks like that but let's stay in facts shall we.
Excuse me but where it is said this was low priority? It certainly looks like that but let's stay in facts shall we.
The fact that they specifically told everyone, on the blog, about everything they're prioritizing over it? If something is prioritized under a ton of other shit, it's not a high priority.
Excuse me but where it is said this was low priority? It certainly looks like that but let's stay in facts shall we.
okay, try "normally that’d mean we’d be putting the final touches on our annual Halloween event, but this year we’re working on something even better" what am I missing from the overall argument on the community reception of this update? yes, broken contracts suck. everything else has been spelled out. I actually don't get it. someone actually help me out here. name some things that could have made this update not be so abysmal in your eyes that doesn't include dropping spells/gifts, or new valve-made content
I'd believe the whole "we're focusing energy on something else" excuse again if the first time they pulled it last year resulted in a good matchmaking update. But it didn't. So I'm inclined to believe that whatever they're doing to warrant a shitty halloween update is also going to be shit.
I wouldn't be surprised if Valve forgets and leaves the current Unbox Rate for unusuals on and the sheer amount of particle-effected hats create a massive flood of tears from the people who tried so hard to keep their hats valuable go price check only to see their hat's price deflated to $10. Then again, I feel as if Unusuals should be worn because they look good, not because of how rare the RNG combination of the hat is.
I want a toggle to turn hats off for a massive performance boost and watch as the entire economy collapses because their hats mean very little when a great portion of the community wants sweet sweet fps
I want a toggle to turn hats off
I want this for unusual effects because they fill up the texture memory with unnecessarily fast.
Then again, I feel as if Unusuals should be worn because they look good
So, pretty much never
I want the economy of tf2 to just dissapear entirely.
I want a toggle to turn hats off for a massive performance boost and watch as the entire economy collapses because their hats mean very little when a great portion of the community wants sweet sweet fps
or they could add another cosmetic slot (actually if they did both, it would probably balance out, that could be cool) [editline]23rd October 2016[/editline]
I want the economy of tf2 to just dissapear entirely.
thats a great idea, maybe valve can just stop supporting the game entirely!
thats a great idea, maybe valve can just stop supporting the game entirely!
So what would be different
I'd believe the whole "we're focusing energy on something else" excuse again if the first time they pulled it last year resulted in a good matchmaking update. But it didn't. So I'm inclined to believe that whatever they're doing to warrant a shitty halloween update is also going to be shit.
Very true. I actually feel that SF 2015 was miles better than the Tough Break Update.
Valve should of set up a mode using the Isolationist and xenos sets.
Valve should of set up a mode using the Isolationist and xenos sets.
it'd be good for a mvm mission but oh look they're restricted
