Major Update Speculation V35 - A Distinctive Lack of Communication

No fix for the save/load maps feature not working right :(
Edit: Maybe they actually did fix that?
- Fixed Casual search criteria being saved automatically while connecting to a server
phew, they fixed the halloween maps problems just in time for halloween
- Updated the truce period during Halloween boss fights
- Players are no longer affected by the truce when in their spawn room, allowing them to fight their way out if necessary
- Sappers can no longer be used while a truce is active
I foresee the glorious return of griefing engineers during Truce! Hurray! Which is why they allowed sappers to work in the first place last year lol.
Based on the wording of the update if an enemy Engie sets up a sentry outside spawn, is it possible to place stickies and destroy the sentry by walking back into spawn and detonating?

Maybe they should disable sappers and disable engineers being able to move buildings during the Truce? It might be the best compromise.
Holy cow... Eric actually addressed something I asked about. I'm legitimately impressed.
So what precisely is the deal with server hibernation? What does it accomplish?

Gonna guess saves servers some work when nobody's on. So a power/memory conservation thing most likely.
Engineer trolling during truce is about to go full force.

can someone see if this affects the beam on watergate?
can someone see if this affects the beam on watergate?
I would presume no, because it does specifically state the underworld... But who knows...
I would presume no, because it doesn't specifically state the underworld... But who knows...
it probably has to do with the function that deposits souls/bottles and not actually the location on the maps
Did they fix those Medics bodyblocking me in the underworld?
Can't fix trolls
Engineer trolling during truce is about to go full force.
Even better, Spawn camping with stickies is going to be functional now... Sit in a spot where they can't directly see you inside their spawn as well...
UPDATE: Just tried it, truce in spawn only seems to be one way. Which was good... I would have laughed if they didn't see that coming.

Make it to where Engies cannot pick up and move buildings during a Truce. Simple!

Better would be to have engineer buildings auto detonate after the truce ends IMO...
Tickle heavy and Loose Cannon can still be used to troll during the event still though.
Then theres flat out body blocking entrances.
You can shutdown the game for one team just by having 3 people stand in the chokes of eyeduct

Maybe they can kill body blockers from their spawn rooms?
It's hard to test because only enemies spies would go to the enemy spawn during truce before. But now that they cannot sap shit they won't even go there.

I dont think they can shoot that far.
You don't stand in the doorways near the spawn, you stand further back in the hallways of each and you can't be hit.
What happens if during truce you deploy a sentry in the middle of the map and run into your spawn? Does it start killing people?

Nope.
First thing I tried actually.
I checked Spine Chilling Skull's equip region and it does not look like anything changed?
So did we just forget about the entire deal with the comp map rotation or

Turbine got removed
Badwater is still in
Badlands and Ganary are still gone.
stupid decisions really.

They only changed the Spine-Chilling Skull 2011's equip region; I sent them another e-mail requesting the same treatment for the 2010 edition.

They took out Turbine, so that's a start

Valve clearly wants to try things out and doesn't accept the established 6s meta, which I think is a little silly since they're so late to the competitive game.
We have a major TF2 LAN coming up in January at the Rewind LAN and we haven't heard anything on Valve supporting the tournament financially which is pretty disappointing. It doesn't have to be a huge amount of money but even something like 10k or 20k would be a nice way for Valve to show the community that they're starting to get serious about competitive TF2.
Didn't they mention that they'd be tossing maps in and out to get a better understanding on how they worked in competitive matchmaking with 6's and I'd presume 9v9 wither that turns out to be highlander or not?
The only way CTF might work is if they make the map significantly more linear so that running an engineer full time won't be a necessity to keep scouts from just running past people, grabbing the flag and then running around them again to capture. Which would probably be boring as hell.
CTF just isn't funtional with so view players...
So, They managed to enable friendly fire during truce inside spawns...

I think they're trying to reinvent the wheel here.
No format of comp tf2 really even lines up with how the game is actually played on a casual level, and they're too afraid to just stick to 6s rules so they're trying to define how comp tf2 is meant to be
Except its like 8 years too late for that.
