Major Update Speculation V35 - A Distinctive Lack of Communication
i think you should just stop waiting around for it and just forget about it until it eventually comes
setting up expectations for things that valve makes is also setting yourself up for disappointment and will make you impatient
but if it's a bad update most people will still be disappointed even if they set 0 expectations
Then you should expect every update to make tf2 unplayable. You'll either have the smug satisfaction you were right or be pleasantly surprised.

List of updates that have worked on day 1:
Turbine got removed
Badwater is still in
Badlands and Ganary are still gone.
stupid decisions really.
It's probably way more worth it to test some CTF than it is to test payload - at least the former has been played for a while in 6v6, it has some maps made for it (Landfall was created for this purpose) and is small enough to somewhat function with randoms. Payload is just way too huge and requires too much dedicated point capping for 6v6 at any given time.
I enjoy leveling up stuff like the Gargoyle and all. But man is it going to take forever to get the maximum rank on that thing. It's 36,000 souls isn't it? I'm sitting at 20,600 as we speak...

Didn't MvM robots give you souls as well?
Remember when people thought bi-monthly meant twice a month
Remember that bimonthly means both 'twice a month' and 'once every two months'?
[t]http://i.imgur.com/fkRDha1.png[/t]
This is due to the English language being a complicated beast, not because people misunderstood the meaning of bimonthly.
Regardless: Valve don't keep to their schedules. I honestly can't comprehend how people aren't completely used to this by now.

The joke was more like "remember when we thought Valve would release comics every other week? What a bunch of naive fools we were"
-snip-
So I just had a weird idea.
What if we get weapons that replace multiple weapon slots, in return for some stronger abilities?
Forgive me for mentioning it, but in Overwatch, Sombra (their Spy character basically) has an Ult that's basically the sapper but with a wide explosive range that also disables certain player abilities.
What if Spy had some kind of throwable weapon- not necessarily with the same function, mind- but a powerful rechargeable tool that took two weapon slots from him? Say, a mine would take Sapper + Gun, or Sapper + Watch. In a sense, we already have something like this on him, since the YER disables usage of the disguise kit.
But if you were to do this and start applying it to other classes, I think you could give them some interesting new abilities with hard tradeoffs. Perhaps even balance things in such a way that certain fairly powerful unlocks that exist now could start taking up multiple slots, with very slight boosts to compensate.
I dunno, is that a stupid/overcomplicated idea, or do you think it has potential?
only if I can become 2x shotgun man on soldier

You can farm them on a listen server if you're into that, souls still count on sv_cheats 1 servers and won't mess your stats, go to tr_walkway, spawn 23 1HP scouts that don't move, build a sentry and increase host_timescale

do you mean super shotgun with 150 damage meatshots
I think you mean super shotgun with 150 damage meatshots

I don't think he meant this when saying he "enjoys leveling it up".

Want to level them up on real servers, not ones like that...

I enjoy seeing 23 scouts that's in the exact position get blown up by a sentry and see 23 souls flying to me, I guess it's a matter of taste
It would be great if a week or two before the Pyro update Valve creates some burning props for the backgrounds of maps (maybe a burning tree and burning cactus) and adds them to maps like we've seen with other teasers.

It won't make them any money though...

Only if Valve are certain they can get the update out on time, otherwise people might get antsy.

You do realize that promoting an upcoming product or event is designed to increase awareness of that product or event, making you more money right?
FUCK the plane cosmetics.
I tried unboxing some Creepy Crawly cases, and one had 2 items. I thought it was a taunt unusualifier. but NOPE! it was a fucking plane. The rest were non-strange, non-unusual, mercenary tier hats and shit.
I crafted it away later and got a pugilist protector...
I wonder if Im on valve's "Fuck these guys" list because my luck as been ATROCIOUS since February.
What a bizarre idea to include restricted cosmetics alongside non-restricted ones out of the blue.
"Submit your halloween cosmetics! We'll restrict them on a case-by-case basis."
"OK, no, wait. That's unfair. We'll restrict all Halloween cosmetics we add."
"People didn't like use adding 100~ cosmetics that were all restricted, so we'll stop restricting them. Starting next year."
"Enjoy these ostensibly Halloween themed cosmetics, all unrestricted!"
"Also this year we snuck in Halloween restricted cosmetics as a bonus. You're welcome."
When you ignore the fact that different people have worked on TF2 over all these years it's very easy to imagine them as schizophrenic. I don't even hate the idea of bonus 'out-there' cosmetics, outlandish shit like bird heads are great but more grounded stuff is nice in it's own way.

I'm surprised that Valve still hasn't made an in game prize for CSGO and DOTA2 for the Saxxy Awards.
A knife skin and a custom ward would probably get people's interests.
I wonder how many CS:GO skinwhores would pay to be considered part of a Saxxy entry so they could get a knife skin?

All of them, trust me. They'd sell their entire family for skins, it's disgusting.

Remember when this was started to promote an ingame recording feature, only to basically shove that all away the very next year when SFM was made public?
Nothing against the talented SFM animators getting recognition, but this really shows how quickly support can be dropped for parts of the game on a whim.

You say this as if you never spent long nights awake, contemplating whether you should sell your little brother for some refined metal. I can't be the only that did this this, right guys?
All I remember from the in game recordings being in Saxies was that god awful high five replay that somehow won.
