Y'know, I still can't hate on End of the Line (the video,) mainly because of the climax. At its core, it's about something a lot of players have probably experimented with or have done at one point, and that's stopping an train with an Uber. And the short then takes it to its full logical extension - why does the train need stopping, who started it off, was there any other way, etc. I don't know, something about it still... speaks to me.
the name transtslates to, the friend, how menacing
It translates to "the kid" or "the young man" Also "the comrade" depending on the situation

The train attacking Red for some reason plot makes as much sense as any objective in TF2 does.
Anyone hoping we'll get to see some ARG stuff for the Pyro Update?
Anyone hoping we'll get to see some ARG stuff for the Pyro Update?
What's the point if we know it's coming? The only thing they may be hinting at is Asteroid, but I doubt since it's not going to be the focus of the update. Unless they jump the shark and try to reveal Pyro's identity.
Anyone hoping we'll get to see some ARG stuff for the Pyro Update?
after experiencing the shit-fest that is the sombra arg i wish i never see another arg again for a month or two
Anyone hoping we'll get to see some ARG stuff for the Pyro Update?
pyro journal stuff would be neat
remember the burst of blog posts around MyM? it was just jill alone despite displaying "TF Team" truly a hero
At this point i'd be willing to believe jill worked alone on mym because nobody wanted to help him, and he just did his best to keep the community optimistic.
how can you forget about eric smith too
We might as well include sigseigv at this point for all he did to mvm.
It's a perfect time to just talk about how neglected the blog is compared to how used it was before the game went F2P or maybe before 2012. Take this for example, from July 1st, 2008, about the Heavy Update, before the Heavy Update :
Here's a list for how to help define the problems we want to solve with the Heavy pack. It's pretty much exactly what we would start a design meeting with. Try coming up with a new unlockable for the Heavy that addresses the goal, while staying within the constraints as much as possible. The extra section includes other details that are useful when trying to compare two viable ideas.
http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=1670 A week later this was posted:
Well, we were expecting some response to A Heavy Problem, but we severely underestimated just how much interest everyone had in contributing. If you're one of the many folks who emailed us proposals and haven't received a response, please accept our apologies, because there's just too many for us to reply to all of them.
http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=1688 There was also a lot of humor injected into the blog posts and apologies for lack of activity on the blog:
We've learned a lot while working on TF2 in the last year, and we were able to apply some of those lessons to Versus mode. As a result, we've just finished adding critical hits, respawn waves, flawless auto-team balancing, and facestabs to L4D, while removing anything that looked remotely like a grenade. I kid, I kid. Now that we're wrapping up that work, we'll be returning to TF2. We've got a bunch of exciting changes coming down the pipe for the next class update. Feels good to be home again!
http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=1823
It's been a busy week for the Team Fortress team. That's right: the police are here again. We're on a first name basis with them, the fire department and the nasal extraction emergency response team at Overlake Hospital by now, so it was like meeting with old friends.
http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=3692
Since our recent TF2maps.net Art Pass Contest, our level designers have gone back to their default state at the TF2 offices, which is to say, doing nothing, taking naps, eating lunch, and complaining. This has become a bit of a poison pill for the rest of the TF2 team, all of whom possess strong opinions about working (against it), naps (pro), lunches (very pro) and complaining (big fans).
http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=4245 I'm not going to continue flooding with walls and text so I'm just going to put some more examples in here regarding the tf team actually communicating for those who want to dig deeper. Announcing what the next class update will be (it's the scout) and describing patch notes in detail The creation of Meet The Sandvich General update on what's going on Clarifying Stuff about the Huntsman On Updating the Sniper On finding the "Valve employee" who leaked Meet the Spy (Marc Laidlaw gets fired) Announcement of the classic TF2 steam avatars On the cancelled Engi building The TF2 Team getting addicted to Minecraft tl;dr It'd be nice if they actually talked about what their goal with the Pyro update is, they've done it before, but that was years ago. They can communicate still, as seen with the M Y M blog posts. They can do all that, the question is, are they willing to do that?
Likely because they have an inconsistent number of active developers frequently rotating positions in the office with no concrete direction of what they want to accomplish per update beyond one singular goal (eg: add matchmaking but not focus on making it good, fix pyro but not focus on making him viable, so on) leading to difficulty communicating because they're perpetually unsure of what they're actually focused on and always worried they'll change things later on and thus deem it more sensical to no blog at all rather than blog about progress and end up changing their plans later on. All the while trying not to become too associated with the game because they're in a rush to get back to VR development. At least, that's my impression so far.
The most important thing I want to see communicated is what their intentions were with certain changes.

if I worked at valve I'd still be working on TF2 ten years from now even if I was the only team member on it I love this game too much
