Best advice I can give is not to immediately requeue
Or just requeue without swiftwater enabled.
Does anyone know how to prevent matchmaking from queueing you into the same server repeatedly? I've gotten the same steamroll swiftwater match four times in a row when I have barnblitz/upward/swiftwater selected.
I had that problem the other day trying to get into a Wave 666 match, except this one kept automatically booting me because I had that motd thing disabled. Really wish there was a way to black list those servers when I get automatically kicked so it never bothers to try and put me on them again.

What I would really like to see next year is more cosmetics go multi-class or get updates. The first half of the year was really interesting, we didn't get a lot of new content, but it was fun seeing what items would go multi class and get improved. It made the long wait for the summer update bearable, unlike 2015 where we would get a single update a month for mann power changes. It would be nice if Valve made a blog post asking item creators to update items, include updated cosmetics in a monthly crate, send workshop artists a friendly reminder of the rules/guidelines for items, (Hazmat Headcase does not fit the snipers personality.) and maybe add style support to the workshop importer. It would also be great if Valve would improve the cosmetic system. A pyro wearing the sub zero suit or war time warmth should not have his arm/chest geometry rendered. Its a complete waste rendering it as it will never be seen, bar clipping. Improving it would take a lot of work but would ultimately make the game run better and allow workshop artists more geometry to add to their items if Valve allowed it. Maybe we could even get a fourth cosmetic slot eventually? A lot of the focus lately has been on the competitive part of the community and it would be great if Valve reminded people that workshop artists have a place in TF2 and that they create content that benefits the entire community. Improving the workshop importer and cosmetic system would help artists to contribute even better entries and allow them to create more value for the entire community.

Even if it didn't the performance impact would be minimal, a few hundred triangles is nothing to most modern GPUs.
For every 3 good cosmetic updates we got, there was 1 that looked worse or was added to other classes unnecessarily. We have a lot of problematic cosmetics in the game now because Valve didn't pay attention when adding them, and now they will probably never be fixed.
Considering that Valve flat out stopped responding to emails regarding item updates, I don't think its something they are very keen on continuing with.
this isnt true, they responded to my email about a geometry fix for the el paso poncho and promptly updated it
this isnt true, they responded to my email about a geometry fix for the el paso poncho and promptly updated it
That's the first one i've heard of being responded to since they stopped, I wanted to update my mayflower stuff so maybe I'll try again soon.
Anything regarding changing to multi class is the dead bit
Anything regarding changing to multi class is the dead bit
To be honest that's a good thing, too many people abused the multi-class update support as an excuse to go all-class rather than sticking to classes it only makes sense on
to be fair, a lot of items that deserved to go all class were able to
Since Community Servers are relatively dead, is there any way of playing Arena in TF2? I just want valve to add it to "off-gamemodes" like Mannpower.
to be fair, a lot of items that deserved to go all class were able to
Hence me referring to it as abused rather than not having a purpose.
Hence me referring to it as abused rather than not having a purpose.
I feel like the good changes outweighed the bad ones, but I understand your view on it of course. Either way rip All Classing!
i think the multiclassing might not be dead though? I assume any hats that are in the unlocked crates are off-limits to multiclass updates due to revenue reasons, but anything that's got the limited quality is probably still up in the air in terms of multi-class updates, since it wouldnt affect any of the crates theyre in.

if all-classing items is dead it sucks that item like the private eye, where updates were submitted long before the all-class update wave, won't get updated

Would this be a semi feasible thing to do?
To be honest that's a good thing, too many people abused the multi-class update support as an excuse to go all-class rather than sticking to classes it only makes sense on
You guys are right. I totally forgot about it getting abused and artists abusing Valve's trust. (Hazmat Headcase.) Some of the updates were good but many were not. (Breakneck baggies on Demoman obscuring his team coloration, Cotton head all class, etc.)
Since Community Servers are relatively dead, is there any way of playing Arena in TF2? I just want valve to add it to "off-gamemodes" like Mannpower.
Or Valve can support community servers again.
I'm just glad I had the opportunity to add the long unused style for the Caffeine Cooler after 2+ years of trying. Being able to name the styles was also a cool experience. I really hope others took advantage of that update window as well to implement some long unused stuff. If there's ever another opportunity like this, let's not ruin it again for others.
you can thank whoever thought it'd be funny to put the hazmat on sniper thanks for ruining it for everyone else, dude
Or Valve can support community servers again.
I'd like to see them do this, if we could get community servers back that aren't garbage I think everyone would benefit as a whole.
I have been running gameservers for Valve games over 10 years. For TF2, at it's lifetime. At the time when Valve turned quickplay to their own servers, started a decay of 4x24 full servers. In 1 year, they managed to annihilate most of the players we had, simply because quickplay didn't bring in the last empty slots of players anymore and people joined less and less to empty servers. It's really hard to bring in constant new players at areas like northern Finland, where the player population isn't as thick as in Germany or USA. So in 2 years, effectively every server is empty, has been for the past year too. Not even halloweens has managed to spike those up anymore and not even xp can be earned. I can understand the reasoning of this, - and valve punishing the bad servers but they also killed a lot of good communities running servers for this game. But i guess they have no need for those anymore, since they have their own servers.
-snip-(long post)
I agree with you, I know some servers actually abused of quickplay to get players on their server, and managed to cancel the server report messages, so I'm glad those servers are dead, but I'm sad for the communities that respected everything but gets destroyed. The only "community servers" still alive are the ones running custom gamemodes :\
you can thank whoever thought it'd be funny to put the hazmat on sniper thanks for ruining it for everyone else, dude
It was suggested as a joke, I don't think they expected Valve to actually do it.
I thought I heard that it was one guy who contributed in the item who went for it without the approval of another contributor, and that other contributor got real pissed off about that. Still though, doing it as a joke is so... Unprofessional.
