tfw the the only effect i got accepted is for taunts and i couldn't even get the unusual cap
You're not the only one who got left in the boat. I have 10 self-made tagged items and none are wearable items. Well, i have 2 strange filters but those only give out the regular counter if i use them, so no luck there either. Same applies to any map maker after the "new" model of adding items. Previous added maps atleast got a community weapon out of them.
not really? the brushwork seems mostly meh and the artpassing is just "there" for standards of a map actually being in the game, it sort of falls flat and to me at least feels like the brushwork belongs in a gold source game, and the art pass of a trade map. edit: i thought you were talking about hellfire rip
That's exactly what I feel, Hellfire has so little detail and so many empty rooms and spaces that feel like they're from some Quake/UT/TFC map from the late 90s or early 2000s... I guess it's the most purpose-built Mannpower map of the 3 (4 if you count in ctf_foundry that never made it to live servers after it was removed from Beta), but together with the game mode's gimmicks (powerups and the grappling hook with glitchy, awkward animations) it really felt like I was playing some custom mod for a shooter from 15 years ago when I played Hellfire a few times... Same deal with PASS Time maps, I sorta like the mode's premise (unlike Mannpower) but it just feels weird and half-dead unless you play the Brickyard map (former Warehouse) that people actually somewhat know, the other two (forgot their names) just felt like a bizarre, non-TF2-like experience when I tried them a bit.
Well i certainly didn't expect that to happen :v: https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/5cbyfj/selfmade_unusual_cap_for_neutron_star/d9w6mva/

Not crying and getting something done at work or school now, crying and getting absolutely nothing done at work or school later.

honestly the only thing to disappoint me this scream fortress is the piss poor selection of maps, I mean, last year had good maps all around except hellstone, but this year all we got was mapleridge with it's insane sniper sightlines, hellstone: the second coming and pit of death, with pit being the only decent one out of the bunch. usually this wouldn't bother me too much but there were so many incredibly well made maps in the workshop during the time for both this and last year's scream fortress, excluding the obvious koth slasher, we had gravelpit event, turbine event (my favorite in the bunch), degroot creep, hellward, and plenty more I can bring up if you need, but valve in their valve fashion threw a couple darts at a board and went with it. worst part of it all (for map makers at least) is that valves probably going to go back to valve-made scream fortresses after this year, which in itself is great, but seeing all these greatly made halloween maps go to near waste saddens me, especially when they won't necessarily fit in any other update
I'm just thankful we got Event Gorge last year. That map was visually stunning, and way more themed than the Carnival of Carnage. If Valve returns to making their own Scream Fortress maps, I hoe they take a tip from the community and overlay a bit more.
i personally adore carnival of carnage, the bumper car games are a hell of a lot more creative and dynamic than yet another NPC bullet sponge with predictable attack patterns. I'd honestly be more than happy if they just recycled the bumper car mechanics into three all-new bumper car minigames, and a new re-skinned map to initiate them. a racing minigame could be great, with a counter that tallies up how many times you've made a lap as points for your team, hazards and cliffs to knock opponents off of, and the winning team being the one with the most laps made (or the team that has players alive, if somehow the opposing team are all dead) CTF_Sawmill could be a great candidate for another circus-themed map, with the center sawmill being replaced with a circus tent of some sort, and the outlying buildings being more circus buildings/tents
I just hate how very little Objectives some of these Contracts have For example: -Collect Souls -Collect a dropped Pumpkin -Kill with a Pumpkin Bomb Gorge, Hellstone, Brimstone, Sinshine, Moonshine and Maple Ridge all have this exact Contract
Managed to get two Merasmus contracts. At the same time. I can only hope beating one beats the other.
Nothing like getting a specific map contract and being unable to find a game because of the time you're playing.

Also there was a good variety of maps added both years. Most of the maps you mentioned were submitted too late into the workshop to be even considered for this years event. 2/3 maps added this year, were submitted last year to the workshop itself. Maybe Valve didn't do the announcement early enough, maybe community folks didnt submit early enough or maybe the maps should have been done long ago. We can always speculate the reasons but here we are. There is always a new chance next year, like this year shows.
About how long before the event did Valve contact you about putting your map in the update?
Soon after the announcement on blog and I do assume they just didn't go darts with the maps.
when does the event end?
Wednesday.
Has the Tf2 comic artist said anything about it at all recently? ( I know a lot of people probably have asked, but I wasn't able to keep up with the thread. )
Has the Tf2 comic artist said anything about it at all recently? ( I know a lot of people probably have asked, but I wasn't able to keep up with the thread. )
Not really. Jay tweeted a ton on October 2nd and then went back into hibernation. They're aiming for this year.
I'm gonna be optimistic and say less activity on twitter means more activity on the comic.
I'm gonna be optimistic and say the reason its so delayed is because asteroid is being shipped with it
I'm gonna be optimistic and say less activity on twitter means more activity on the comic.
I presume he does more then just the comic. No way he makes a living just making one comic a a year lol.
I'm gonna be optimistic and say the reason its so delayed is because asteroid is being shipped with it
Well, they were going out into space so I can definitely see that being a possibility...
I'm gonna be optimistic and say the reason its so delayed is because asteroid is being shipped with it
Jay said on Twitter that the reason the comic was delayed was because the writers were working on something else. Seeing as how JJ Abrams recently said they're going to be talking about the Portal movie soon that's probably what they were working on.
I just noticed, was there no Goodie Cauldron this year?
I just noticed, was there no Goodie Cauldron this year?
It's long gone, like the gibus updating every year is gone too few years ago.
I hate how difficult it has been to do any of these contracts as Medic, my favourite class. They almost all involve killing or collecting souls, 80% of which you get by killing other players. it's really put me off this event.

Hum, I didn't receive a new contract today... Is 40 the limit by chance?
Hum, I didn't receive a new contract today... Is 40 the limit by chance?
Yes:
Displaying this year's mission count as the total was a display bug. All players can get 26 new Merasmissions this year, regardless of what their gargoyle had on it from last year. That is, if you completed all 14 missions last year, you should be able to get a nice round 40.
