Major Update Speculation V35 - A Distinctive Lack of Communication

So basically, Mayann, Iron Gauntlet and Frontline are confirmed for never happening.
cool
WE LOVE YOU VOID
However good intentioned your wishes are - it's part of the problem. I don't want to be the only name associated with all of this. Retro and Smash both put in their heart and soul to work on these things, and everyone is still properly credited, but people still more often than not just refer to me. It's simply not like that and I really want to take a stance and show that there are others that do way more work than me on all of these projects I take part in, and to not appreciate or acknowledge the others is just hurtful.
Not entirely directed at you, it's been a negative trend to only acknowledge certain people. But please, acknowledge and appreciate everyone.
Retro spends days at a time on web assets, renders, paintovers, and thumbnail designs. Smash dedicates his time, even at work, to coding the page down to the wire. I'm around to bounce ideas off of, manage it part-time, and write for it. We're all in this together.
Wow so humble too, void is the best

haha shit don't tell them this

cool
also the medieval one
so there's a shit ton of community updates out on the Workshop and valve decides to go with "none except maybe some mayann(?) maps" and make their own update
this feels bizarre

of the non mvm community updates, mayann has been in progress the longest, iirc. additionally, many frontline maps I've played on TF2Maps also blend in a Mayann/jungle theme to raise its chances.
the only ones I'd really worry about at the moment are the city-based Frontline ones (of which there are many, Shoreleave comes to mind) and Iron Gauntlet as a whole (I don't believe any of them have a jungle setting at all). there's no reason that IG or Frontline-centric maps can't find a spotlight later down the road, though.
also, they only claimed to be working on one map. if past community and most major updates are any indication, I think they'll do 1 Valve map and 3 community maps fitting the theme, plus cosmetics, taunts and particle effects they take a liking to.
We weren't trying to be NOTLU, Retro just wanted to keep up the spirit of it. You really don't need to needlessly pit the two against eachother in a negative way. Workshop of Horrors aims to support the community and we do it out of pure good will. We want to see people create and have fun. We don't want competition. It's all about fun, but it takes a personal toll on us. Mental health is a real issue the team struggles with and things are difficult because of it but we do what we do to make the community a better place.
oh i didnt mean it competitively, I just like the name better :B

Im still hoping for Frontline...
Iron Gauntlet and Mayann never interested me like Frontline did.
Valve's mercurial behavior is as puzzling as ever I see.
some guy on reddit pointed out that the letters in the pic spell "park"

Looks like there's some more letters too.
Guess it's a park like Westworld...........

I don't think that's a very reasonable assumption.
I hope its dinosaur related.
I am still not entirely sure what this is. The TF2 team is making a tropical map, and they want us to make tropical stuff, but they've not given us any assets to use.
This is a bit confusing.

I suggest reading the blog post first
i was singing welcome to the jungle when i saw the post, that was weird
I'm very much looking forward to seeing a new Valve made map theme (and map).
Kinda sad it seems like we wont get full community updates like we got in the past, but if we get a bunch of content from those updates with Valve themed content that's good too.

You don't need assets to develop a layout, but they help~
There's that whole Mayann pack if you desperately need assets to develop a layout.

this jungle asset is making me hoping for a vietnam war themed maps :pudge:

Sounds like Valve will just incorporate parts of those updates into their updates if they like them which is sad but I can hardly blame them after how things went down with Invasion.
We know Valve has likely been working on a new MVM map with the bot parachuting in with the Base Jumper based on code changes and new sound files in the last year, I wouldn't be surprised if when they ship that map they also ship a few Iron Gauntlet MVM maps too.
8.3 MB update?
8.3 MB update?
hopefully a jungle workshop importer tag
I would absolutely love there to be some Indiana Jones themed things in the map. Maybe if it was a CTF map the intel would be some sort of trap-triggering treasure like in the first Indiana Jones?
An update to Team Fortress 2 has been released.
- Taunt Unusualifiers apply non-Halloween Unusual effects now that Halloween has ended
- Added a "Jungle" tag for Workshop submissions
I see there's already tons of Submissions, neat.

The Mayan and Frontline items seem to blend well together, maybe we'll get the best of both worlds.

Ah yes, my favorite Jungle creature

knowing valve they might actually add it
how come heartsman always does that shit, to my knowledge he's the only real major workshop contributor who does it too
how come heartsman always does that shit, to my knowledge he's the only real major workshop contributor who does it too
Desperately grasping at straws to get something in?

Not to point fingers, but Heavy Tourism was relabeled and submitted to a couple of projects IIRC.

And to play devil's advocate, the yeti could actually fit in the jungle. After all, we've already seen a yeti in a jungle.
