Update today or tomorrow?
Never
Never
Never, you mean like until the end of humanity?
Update today or tomorrow?
That's a joke right?
Yeah, it'll be today or tomorrow, when that day will come, it'll still be today or tomorrow. Just a few hundred nested loops. Or maybe it's a patch to fix an exploit idk
Update today or tomorrow?
what for
That's a joke right?
Why would it be? Today and tomorrow are realistic dates for an Update. Not the Pyro one obviously, but maybe the end of the voice codec beta? Who knows.
Why would it be? Today and tomorrow are realistic dates for an Update. Not the Pyro one obviously, but maybe the end of the voice codec beta? If theres going to be an update for Christmas its probably wont be until mid to late december
There's literally zero reason to expect an update today/tomorrow any more than any other day for the next 3 weeks it's why we don't post "update today?" every single day
update today?

guys what if just imagine Valve Store Shipment Box
We've had 6 updates this month, without a dry week. Why would this week suddenly not have one?
We've had 6 updates this month, without a dry week. Why would this week suddenly not have one?
Because the past 6 weeks have probably been an outlier.
Today and tomorrow are realistic dates for an Update.
General days for updates to arrive are thursday evening and friday evening (seattle time). Occasional updates have been happening off those days but big majority are only on those days.
There's literally zero reason to expect an update today/tomorrow any more than any other day for the next 3 weeks it's why we don't post "update today?" every single day
Tonight's the night!
It feels like Tough Break was still the last major update. Man I hope we get something out of the new update. Even if its minimal content, without the Pyro stuff, that is 100% working on Day one it'll be the best update of the year.

Why do you think that?

Why do you think that?
The biggest hyped thing prior to Meet your Match was competitive matchmaking being out of beta and an update dedicated to the launch of competitive matchmaking and competitive play. The Meet your Match update changes to competitive were surprisingly small and it didn't give competitive things it needed to succeed. (Actual 6's class limits, a functional ranking system, placement matches to name a few.) Here are the patch notes for competitive mode changes in the MYM update.
Competitive Mode is no longer in beta. Added new sound vo files for Competitive Mode. Added check to prevent players with P-REC loaded from participating in matchmaking. Prevents P-REC crashing which results in players receiving abandon penalties. Fixed class change notifications appearing to the enemy team for a period of time after teams swap sides in Competitive Mode. [Undocumented] Added the Competitive Matchmaking Pass.
This is not many notable changes at all for the theoretical focus of such a major addition to the game in a major update. Just a few bug fixes and improvements that could have been shipped a week earlier. Not the overhaul that competitive needed to be released from beta. (And still needs. Competitive, in my opinion, is absolutely awful and unfinished. Its just a glorified, ranked pub.) Lets also keep in mind that MYM also completely ignored the second most popular form of competitive play: highlander. I would have loved MYM if it gave us a functional, good competitive mode. (Which it did not.) If we look at the update as a whole, yes it was major. It shipped a completely awful casual system replacing a reliable (but not perfect) quickplay system and overwhelmingly baffling balance changes. The introduction of casual also broke a lot of in-game features which have yet to be resolved. (Many achievements are unobtainable, the coaching system is completely broken, enchantement: eternaweens are unusable.) Meet your Match was a major update definitely; just not for competitive matchmaking.

There were new maps, balance changes, crates, and even a few feature additions. If it adds content and makes major balance changes, it counts as a major update in my eyes. You don't need to talk from a pedestal to me about competitive TF2, by the way. I play Highlander and 6s, I folow the scene, I think Comp Mode as it is is garbage. I'm just saying- MyM was a major update, I'd argue moreso than Tough Break, even if you didn't like it that much.

Was the weapon mini mode view model from MYM a requested feature from the competitive community? I don't follow the scene too much aside from highlander occasionally.

Despite the backlash, I think minimal viewmodels are an amazing compromise, since they don't block the screen at all and they maintain the immersion aspect. I used to play with no viewmodels but since min. viewmodels, I've never looked back.

But yeah the min viewmodels at 70 FOV are fine, they take up almost no screen space.

Why do you think that?
MyM removed more features than it added. It was a downdate. RIP Ad-hoc connections RIP Cactus Canyon/ Asteroid RIP Any semblance of Team Balance
RIP degroot keep on any CP_ server too Also I wish Valve would make skins more of a thing in TF2, I actually made a halfdecent skin like a year ago by swapping textures, but I'd rather have some real tools.
RIP degroot keep on any CP_ server too
Degroot keep was never on any Valve CP servers, it was only ever on alternate game servers.
MyM removed more features than it added. It was a downdate. RIP Ad-hoc connections RIP Cactus Canyon/ Asteroid RIP Any semblance of Team Balance
also added 3 new maps, a plethora of balance changes, new stranges, new cosmetics, a new matchmaking system... again, I'm not saying that MyM was a great update, but arguing that it somehow doesn't meet the bar to be considered a major update is completely ridiculous. it met all bars required of a major update, and even though it wasn't particularly good, it's still a major update.
RIP Any semblance of Team Balance
If this is about teams becoming really lopsided due to people rage quitting then I'd argue this is actually the communities fault and not Valves. They actually introduced a solid way to fight the actual reason teams become lopsided and the community whined till it was completely removed. What was funny though was that it actually worked, and the instant it was removed is when people started mass whining about teams becoming one sided. Auto-balance and Team Scramble never fixed this problem because they never attacked the cause of it, which was all the inconsiderate people who decided their personal enjoyment of the game was more important then the rest of their teammates. It was a band-aid fix at best and it just punished people who decided to stay instead, which is why they were universally hated. I admit though it was a bit harsher then it needed to be, but the fact that teams barely ever became lopsided with it in was a sign that it did indeed work. I just would have toned down the punishments for screwing over your team. I would have at least made it that trying to join a new game would always throw them back into the game they abandoned until the game ended, and then made it that consistent abandoning matches in short successions lead to "time outs" or temp bans on trying to enter in the first place. I mean, if your rage quitting that you have to abandon 3-5 times within an hour or two you probably should take a break from the game. Go get something to eat, take a shower, do whatever to cool off.

It didn't even come with any new parts. It was a joke.
Holiday Sale is happening on the 22th! Wonder if the Update will be hit before or right on that date. Man - one of the reasons I like Smissmas so much is that there is an actual timeframe of when to expect stuff.
