man all this ARG and lore talk makes me wish we had shit like that in updates these days
to be honest we are better off without hype The best part about the update hopefully launching next week is that there isnt a large amount of hype surrounding it like mym meaning its easy to impress peeps
I kind of feel like there was this sense when MvM came out of TF2's story like, going somewhere interesting, you know? Like the TF2 team wanted to really add drastic, interesting changes to the story and the game, and there was a plan for really interesting new content going forward. The comics and the gameplay were planned around each other, there was a sense of like, cohesion and focus. There was a central story, and it was aligned with what was happening with new updates. Now though, the comics haven't had anything to do with the game for a long time, there's no sense of coordination between them. The only one that's really been relevant for a while has been the Heavy one, and while it's a good comic, storywise it was basically just a throwaway "here's a mediocre excuse for why Heavy and Pyro would want to fight". The main comic story just seems pretty disinteresting at this point, with no relevance to the actual game. Idk, maybe it's just a matter of the delays, it might have held my interest if it hadn't become a damn annual comic.
A small quality of life improvement I would really like to see Valve add to TF2 in this update is have it so any respawning metal picked up by a non engineer class during setup time automatically respawns. If an engineer picks it up it has the normal 10 second respawn timer.
reminder that Gun Mettle, that one update explicitely designed around the fanbase's demand for weapons (even involving a comic and the merc's request for weapons), did not actually have any weapons.
i hate the comic for flanderizing soldier's madman personality tbh
Lead poisoning will apparently do that to you.
More like INK poisoning. From the writer's pens. Although they probably type their work, which would make it keyboard poisoning.

tf team was planning to make big changes on gameplay before competitive became the focus. just saying.
tf team was planning to make big changes on gameplay before competitive became the focus. just saying.
Well, I'd call competitive a big change on gameplay. Slightly off topic : http://www.dota2.com/700 Is this the first Valve Update to happen on a Sunday?
no christmas bingo? aww [editline]11th December 2016[/editline]
reminder that Gun Mettle, that one update explicitely designed around the fanbase's demand for weapons (even involving a comic and the merc's request for weapons), did not actually have any weapons.
yeah we sure requested weapon skins more thing breaking the fucking artstyle as if the cosmetics weren't enough. And people even want more of it with adding weapon skin for UNLOCKABLE weapon. I wish for more weapons in this game, even if it was reskin i wouldnt care they could add them as reskins of another weapon then when they balanced most of the last unlockable weapon they could try and make them weapon on their own. [editline]11th December 2016[/editline]
tf team was planning to make big changes on gameplay before competitive became the focus. just saying.
Competitive destroyed this game, i fucking hate esport, now every single game developer makings a multiplayer FPS want to pander to those guy.
Could you be any more of an angry "casual", Aperture?
Could you be any more of an angry "casual", Aperture?
I don't know, i'm just complaining because my favorite games, one of the ones i passed the most time on, is being badly supported by a team that doesn't care? Do i look like i'm hating the game? Valve sense of priority is dumb. Success got over their head in my opinion, and people want more of it. They don't focus on content that makes the games better at this point, they just focus on useless content that nobody will ever buy or get (Cosmetic item... i swears most of them are not used in game..). Maps, weapon, rebalancing, that's what the community want. I just want TF2 to be great again.

The MyM rebalance was a little lackluster, but 2015 had 2 of the best rebalance updates the game has ever seen, plus we know we're getting new weapons and big rebalances for Pyro and Heavy coming up. We don't even get that many cosmetics anymore, we only get a couple of new crates a year and most of those only have maybe 20 cosmetics as most. Plus it's not like adding cosmetics or weapon reskins take up a huge amount of the TF team's time. Your complaints don't make sense, everything you say you want them to do they have been doing since 2015.
Someone linked this page, not sure if here or in other thread: http://www.teamfortress.com/history.php God, 605 counted updates... I don't remember but was there something special for 500? Also, I wish we made it to the 1,000 at least!
Someone linked this page, not sure if here or in other thread: http://www.teamfortress.com/history.php
i love this pattern with Scream Fortress each year has 1 less update separating them
I just want TF2 to be great again.
and like other idiots who talk vaguely about wanting X to great again, you have only a vague idea of what the actual problems in TF2 are and falsely-assign blame to parties (Competitive players) and implementations (weapon skins) that serve as easy targets
Valve will call it quits before 700.
They haven't already?
Either way, since the Update is close, have a half-assed Bingo sheet.
So which merc would you guys sit down and have a beer with? I'd go with Engineer and how he figured out what the hell a microprocessor is in the 1970's.

I'd like to sit down and listen to his war stories of how he shoved a wrench down an Engineer's throat, all the way down to the handle.
who says we're even getting an update soon
who says we're even getting an update soon
Basic prediction and pattern following. Last one was next week, so this one will probably be next one too.
who says we're even getting an update soon
I do.
tf team was planning to make big changes on gameplay before competitive became the focus. just saying.
I wonder why they rushed it like they did. Geel did say there was crunch involved, which sounds unusual for Valve. It's like they wanted to put the update out super fast for some really good reason. Did Overwatch actually scare them that much or what?
They'll never admit it but ow absolutely factored into their refrained mindset. Not directly, but the game stole a huge chunk of big name players and players in general. It also showed that goofy shooters can be big when you have developers with an ounce of passion for their game They rushed it because they were already 4 years late to the request and didnt want to delay a summer update in fear of going under the radar. So they did the logical thing- rushed the beta without any balance testing, stripped crucial features, shipped an unenjoyable product and decided they'd wait another half of a year after that to patch up all the issues!
I'd like a bingo of what exploits the update will bring back, level 3 mini sentries?, detonating payload last?, new out of bounds? (my money is on this one)
I feel like the only person that liked MyM more at launch than it is now
I feel like the only person that liked MyM more at launch than it is now
Casual had better quality matches for like, 2-3 days. then they went to shit.
