I see you all cling harder and harder every year and it always backfires

There isn't any private videos on the TF2 YouTube channel for the new taunts.
If you're expecting the Christmas update tonight you're going to be in for a rough night.
I don't think Smissmass has ever come this early, and assuming they're trying especially hard not to fuck this update up, it's not coming out this week.
and assuming they're trying especially hard not to fuck this update up
what does that even mean
what does that even mean
One random key on every valve keyboard deletes the last 100 actions of the computer. So Valve employees have to be extremely careful when working as to not destroy the entire update. When update releases are broken, this is generally the result of someone hitting the key without realizing it.

The second Christmas update came out on the 15th, that is the earliest i think.
Well as always, dont expect anything tonight.
You can be confident next thursday, today would just be a neat surprise.
Afterall, this could always happen

Tough Break came on Dec 17th, which was today last year but the Festivizers shipped during the next week.

The first Australian Christmas was also on the 17th, with the subsequent year's Australian Christmas releasing on the 15th. No, it shouldn't be too early to expect an update, but it probably is too early to expect an update with the TF teams's recent track record kept in mind.
the only blog post I remember is the one with the highlander Heavy

Welp, see you guys next week!
It's safe to assume that we're not going to get a christmas update, unless valve actually has something to show after Dota' s 7.00

Y'all are waiting for the update, I'm still wondering whether that comic that was supposed to come by the end of the year would even arrive at the end of the year.
I'm excited for the Smissmas webpage the most. The TF team always seem to make really appealing webpages with sfm models and cute editions like picture frames for maps, all while maintaining the TF2 artstyle. An update might not be 100% positive in term the feedback from the community but they sure do know how to make a good update page.
Edit: Just realised that the smissmas updates dont usually get a webpage. Just a blog post. :(
what does that even mean
I don't know how this wasn't obvious to you but it implies that they'd be taking extra time to ensure they don't ship the update completely full of bugs, like they did with MyM

Smissmas is prolly going to be the Pyro Update, thus an Update page is unavoidable

Also it will have a campaign, and I can't see them not doing an update page for a paid for campaign that shows off the new maps and the new weapon reskins.
I wonder why we didn't get a campaign this summer, it's a large amount of revenue for an incredibly small amount of work. Maybe Valve didn't want to take players' attention away from the "war."

game developers don't have this ""fucking up"" perspective like some edgy teenager player. they just do their best and evaluate afterwards.
so no valve would never "fuck up" an update on purpose. if they consider they did a mistake then they'll make a blog post about it. their intents are never ~evil~.

Or a campaign based around the war, with contract points contributing to the side you voted for.

No you don't understand. Valve isn't giving me exactly what I want because they HATE US and want to kill TF2!

what was the gifting abuse?

My guess was that it was a combination of things, like not knowing how well matchmaking would work at launch, not knowing how well people would take the changes to Valve servers and not having time to get contracts properly working with their new servers system, all of which could of lead to lower then normal campaign pass sales.
I actually asked the creator of Swiftwater if Valve told him why they just outright bought the MyM maps instead of doing a campaign but Valve didn't tell him.
I'm hoping for a complete rework for the RS, you know there's something wrong when a weapon needs both a buff and a nerf at the same time
honestly just lock the reserve shooter back to soldier and call it done- it wasn't ever OP in Soldier's hands, it was just super problematic in Pyro's because of the whole puff-n-shoot deal
honestly just lock the reserve shooter back to soldier and call it done- it wasn't ever OP in Soldier's hands, it was just super problematic in Pyro's because of the whole puff-n-shoot deal
sorry contra, but I don't believe you know what you're talking about, the RS never was OP actually, it is infact a really bad weapon for both classes, on Soldier you're better off with the gunboats mobility or a banner which in both cases you'll be doing much more damage.
on Pyro, when played competitively, you know your class sucks so you have only two options to play, either go for flank and close range kills, where the flare gun is a must use if you know how to use because it will deal much more damage, or play support with your team, where you normally won't be in your effective range so you reflect and use stock shotgun to deal damage (which will deal much more damage over time than any Pyro secondary), but if you use the RS, you're stuck with a combination of a flare gun and shotgun, which doesn't fill any of their roles, you won't deal nearly as much damage over time, and it will be much harder to get kills than with the flare gun.
usually when I say this, everytime someone comes saying "but it's banned in comp so it must be OP", so I'll try to explain everything before anyone says more, ignoring that the natascha is also banned despite being the worst minigun, the RS isn't hated competitively for the knock then crit gimmick, because as I mentioned there's much better ways to get kills, it's hated because if the enemy knocked themselves airborne (jumpers) you can still crit them, which is why it's banned in 6s because it is a MUST PICK on pocket soldier, easily shut down any enemy jumpers who dare bombing your medic instead of airshotting them.
the weapon is broken on both classes, and it needs a complete rework to be good, honestly if they changed it so that YOU must be the one who knocked your enemy airborne it will be fine, I can handle how annoying it is on Pyro (despite that you're dead the second you entered a Pyro's range no matter what weapon they're using), but I'd prefer a rework to make it a unique viable weapon.
you definitely know more about pyro than I do so I'll give you this one
and I should mention I do think reworking it entirely is a good idea, but people complain about it the most on Pyro so I figured just tossing it in Solly's hands would more quickly-fix the issue without thinking of the ramifications (especially in 6s play- I've never even thought of how RS would be a big deal there, but you really opened my eyes to how damn stupid that would be to play against)

I'm glad you're open for discussing it, the problem here is people always take what comp guys say without understanding it then mindlessly tossing it everywhere with no thinking, pro players said it's OP so it is OP, but I don't know why so I'll assume, same way people with 100 hours complain about the DH all the time after encountering a decent soldier using it, others who think Pyro is OP etc...
I think that's where most complaints come from, someone encountered a Pyro being a dick playing with him like a ball, then years later give him a crit in the face with the RS.
