Valentine's Day is a holiday forever marred by the TF Team.
Valentine's Day is a holiday forever marred by the TF Team.
To be honest, Valentine's day isn't as hyped up as Christmas or Hallowe'en is so I am not too shocked that they never really cared about it.
if we had a "endearingly cynical" rating, I'd assign one to every one of your posts, exor
It's hard not to be cynical, just look at 2016 as a whole for TF, what a mess. On that note, god I can only hope this update is arrives and works. I don't even mind if its medicore, I just want to play it the day it arrives, not a month.

Back on topic, Kind of hoping they would put more effort into the contracts next update. My problem with the merasmissions this year was that all of them were similar.
Valentine's Day is a holiday forever marred by the TF Team.
I would love to see Valve make April Fool's Day a thing in TF2, add a silly map or two every year like Trainsawlaser and make it an event that lasts a week or two and let us have a little bit of fun.
Campaigns are not that great, the skins that you get from missions are usually kind of boring or at most 6/10s, unless you get the rarest ones, which usually are okay or actually really nice, but chances are you will only get one in the whole campaign. If you don't get skins, you get cases, which give you a chance to put in more cash to get a skin (yaaay!!!). So you get 2 missions every week, one mission gives you a shitty skin and the other a case that becomes pretty much worthless after 2 weeks. The dream reward is the expensive case at week one or two and a factory new skin of any rarity but the first two. If you couldn't sell the cases they would be worthless to most of us who don't want to uncase (I mean waste money hue). What I want from the next update is new maps and pryo being fixed. If they do a campaign, I hope that they make the cases bonus rewards and not this bs. I sure am not getting my hopes up, because Valve doesn't want to impress us anymore. See? Coming soon... ...for like a year and a half.
game developers don't have this ""fucking up"" perspective like some edgy teenager player. they just do their best and evaluate afterwards. so no valve would never "fuck up" an update on purpose. if they consider they did a mistake then they'll make a blog post about it. their intents are never ~evil~.
That isn't at all what I meant, I said nothing about them "fucking up an update on purpose," literally all I meant was that they'd be putting extra care to bug test the update before release.
I wish that I could not do my job for over a year
Does valve work on the 23rd?
I wish that I could not do my job for over a year
actually the tf comics team is the same team that works on writing/art for basically everything else, it looks like so it's not that they aren't doing their jobs, it's that valve cares more about getting the art team working on a random vr project than allowing them to finish the tf comic series they committed to

I think all of us can understand why that would have a higher priority then the TF2 comic.
Yeah, there's Erik Wolpaw, Jay Pinkerton and Chet Faliszek and... that's it? As far as the more comedic writing goes (including Portal). They're awesome, but that doesn't leave much room for anything "extra" as the comic seems to be considered.
The Blog posts are a treat to read, too
To be honest, Valentine's day isn't as hyped up as Christmas or Hallowe'en is so I am not too shocked that they never really cared about it.
No, you don't understand, it's the anniversary of the Sandvich nerf.
Also I imagine the Valve writing team has been working on the script for the Portal movie that Bad Robot is making. He did such a sublime job on The Force Awakens!
Why would they need actual writers to hammer out a script when they can get J.J. himself to do it! He did such a sublime job on The Force Awakens!
To be fair, if you want to make a movie off of a video game, you should have the writers of the game initially write the script. That's assuming that those guys wrote the script for the movie. If not, I'm sure they have access to the people who originally wrote the script for the game. Besides, we don't know how much J.J knows about the Portal Series.
Screenwriting is a pretty specific skill - look at how Chris Metzen was asked to help with the story for Warcraft, but didn't write the script. I'm sure Valve's writers would be there to write gags and such, but that's only part of what makes a script.
What would be absolutely insane for an update, which would also probably never happen, what if after the comic ran its course with the last two issues, we actually got 9 more classes: The TF Classic Mercs stylized in TF2 with new voice lines? Of course, that would never happen due to the effort that would have to go into that, but a man can dream, right?
It'd never happen, and tbh it'd also be really unnecessary. If you want playable TFC Mercs in TF2, either add a gamemode specifically for them (doubt that'll happen at this point in TF2's lifecycle) or make cosmetic loadouts for them. IIRC, there's already a set for the TFC Medic in the game, and The Classic is the TFC Sniper Rifle.
Adding the TFClassic mercs without changing how they were played would be a stupid move. Two words... Concussion Grenade People would complain about them on day 1 due to them practically being a sticky jump for all classes.

Soldier was Frag Grenade + Nail Grenade Pyro was Frag Grenade + Napalm Grenade Demoman and Heavy were Frag Grenade + Cluster Grenade Sniper Just got Frag Grenades ( TFC Removed flares, which weren't needed any more ) Spy got Frag Grenade + Gas Grenade Engineer got Frag Grenade + EMP Grenade TFC merc's though would probably destroy the TF2 Mercs, since a lot of the mobility options and grenades would have a huge impact on the fight against. Unless they made some pretty significant changes to the TF2 mercs to be able to deal with the TFC Mercs.

Gave everyone the concussion grenade.

I'd rather see the TFC merc's be apart of the mann vs machine game mode as enemies then in PvP matches though... Maybe boss level characters? I mean, in the comic's they were on Grey's side already before they gutted him...

I was mostly thinking of them as cosmetic overrides, but that sounds like a much better idea.
On another note I wonder if they'll finally make the Disgaea promos tradable this major update. :v:
I have been clamoring for a proper boss mode for TF2 forever. It's right up there with a MvM Payload mode for me.
On another note I wonder if they'll finally make the Disgaea promos tradable this major update. :v:
Well, they were added to the store and made not trade-able. That's a first for Genuine's, so I have a feeling from now none of them will be trade-able.
Unrealistic, but what if the "comp improvements" include basic Gamemode changes to make them less flawed?
Unrealistic, but what if the "comp improvements" include basic Gamemode changes to make them less flawed?
They will never change 5CP to not be a stalemate fest.
