How about we have a proper forced training mode that actualy explains more than the loading tips do?
How about we have a proper forced training mode that actualy explains more than the loading tips do?
Nobody wants to sit in watching some training guidance. Unles they are interested about it but gamers are impatient and just want to play. Who reads manuals anyway?
Nobody wants to sit in watching some training guidance. Unles they are interested about it but gamers are impatient and just want to play. Who reads manuals anyway?
Literally all we need are Overwatch-esque tips on the site or even class limits.
How about we have a proper forced training mode that actualy explains more than the loading tips do?
Yeah TF2 badly needs the tutorials redone. I would love to see a more comprehensive basic tutorial with new voice lines for the characters and Miss Pauline incorporated into the tutorial, then a series of contracts for all classes, and then maybe a more advanced tutorial that unlocks a little later with more advanced concepts like rocket/sticky jumping and crit healing. Edit: Also work with the author of walkway to get it fully updated and help them with any features they might want to add to the map then make it official.
I dont think it would be unreasonable after the pyro and heavy updates roll out we start spaming the TF team's inboxes with demands for a better tutorial.
A better tutorial to learn the do and don'ts of classes would surely shorten down the amount of clueless players. Even reward people to learn the basics of them by giving an achievement hat; Graduation Cap. Not exactly amazing, but giving an incentive for new players with no cosmetics to do the tutorial would benefit them and the players in matches.
On one side I really do want class limits so we don't have horrible teams, but on the other, I think it'd ruin some of the charm in TF2 of going all one class.
Free class is fine in Casual, but in Competitive they are a must. They're literally a requirement for the format to work.
Personally I would be very happy to see casual class limits of 2 each for sniper, spy and engine and 3 each of the other classes but that would piss off reddit so much it will never happen. I do think class limits for comp is a must and most people would be fine with comp class limits.
Medic should be limited to 1
Medic should be limited to 1
nothing is worse than 2 vaccinator medics *shudders*
Tough Break was released on the 17th last year, this years hasn't even been announced...
Tough Break was released on the 17th last year, this years hasn't even been announced...
I'm betting we get it this week before the Holidays. Even with Valve's updates getting on the lighter side (which I am mostly fine with given how old TF2 is), there is no way they are going to pass up on the Holiday cosmetic cash. At the bare minimum, we are talking another Winter 2013 update with a bunch of cosmetics.
Tough Break was released on the 17th last year, this years hasn't even been announced...
So? Last year doesn't have to set a permanent trend. The next major update is coming this week. They rarely announce updates sooner than a few days before it launches. It means nothing that the update hasn't been announced yet. It's obviously coming.
Free class is fine in Casual, but in Competitive they are a must. They're literally a requirement for the format to work.
I am somewhat concerned the next update will have comp improvements but still not add 6's rules and class limits to competitive matchmaking.
I am somewhat concerned the next update will have comp improvements but still not add 6's rules and class limits to competitive matchmaking.
Placement Matches.
Literally all we need are Overwatch-esque tips on the site or even class limits.
class limits are awful. it's fine to say "we dont need a fifth sniper/engie" but what if the other 4 players in that class are complete idiots. on servers with class limits you often see noobs hog all the spots for a specific class while contributing absolutely nothing to their team. that said, i can see the point of class limits in competitive matches where there is not as much of a difference in skill between players
I am somewhat concerned the next update will have comp improvements but still not add 6's rules and class limits to competitive matchmaking.
I am, too. If they aren't, I'm just gonna call it as dead and move on. That being said, I asked the b4n-man a while back- he seems to think that Valve is aware of the necessity of class limits in Matchmaking. That's hardly set in stone, but at this point it should be obvious to them that's one of the biggest things keeping actual competitive players away from playing their "Competitive Mode".
Placement Matches.
I'd view placement matches as less essential to Comp Mode at this point than class limits, but they are a necessity if we start doing proper Seasons, which we should.
I'd view placement matches as less essential to Comp Mode at this point than class limits, but they are a necessity if we start doing proper Seasons, which we should.
Placement matches are literally the most essential part of any comp system - Class limits are anything but a gameplay aspect, but you cant get the gameplay rolling if you have both b4nny and edurado.minecraft2002 playing against eachother.
there is no way they are going to pass up on the Holiday cosmetic cash. I honestly feel this update is a make-it or break-it for TF2 at this point. I want to love this game again, so I can only hope for a solid Smissmas update, even if it's only a small patch. After a year of lackluster treatment to the game, this is my last hope for Valve to show their support for TF. If it's delivered with some Pyro balances, festive weapons, and improved matchmaking, it'd be the best thing of year. And I can only hope so.
Since valve is pretty good at pulling those "do the one thing that nobody expected" I would wager the smissmas won't have anything to do with the pyro pack.
Tough Break was released on the 17th last year, this years hasn't even been announced...
The 2014 Christmas event came out the 22nd and both the 2013 and 2012 update came out on Dec 20th so really Tough Break coming out that early is an outlier among recent Christmas events.
Since valve is pretty good at pulling those "do the one thing that nobody expected" I would wager the smissmas won't have anything to do with the pyro pack.
implying that anyone actually thinks the pyro update will be finished by then.
Valve should hand development of TF2 over to a second party studio imo
please don't make the uninformed csgo argument, please don't make the uninformed csgo argument...
Do we know when the winter sale starts this year? TF2's updates usually hit around the same time, right?
Do we know when the winter sale starts this year? TF2's updates usually hit around the same time, right?
22nd? http://www.pcgamer.com/the-steam-winter-sale-dates-have-leaked/
