Merasmus literally started as an "a wizard did it" explanation for Medieval Mode.
It's the only logical conclusion.
edit: which is kinda weird since they're not actually in medieval times and you can find stuff like a modern toll booth hidden around, but I guess Merasmus is also a really bad wizard

I don't recall him ever being associated with medieval mode. IIRC, medieval mode is just a "play", given all the secret doors with machines and technology inside them.

Both players get on Teamspeak/Ventrilo/Skype/etc. Player One has a microphone and talks. Player Two listens, then types responses in TF2. And everyone else on the server enjoys not having to listen to their chatter or mute them.
I may be in the minority, but as long as the communication going on isn't mind-numbingly idiotic or childish, I'm fine with pretty much anybody miccing up in TF2, especially little kids on things like Surf servers. There's something about an obvious 13 year old knowing more about TF2 than I did when I was 17 that always makes me proud.
