I hate how the video compression makes everything less clear, i might just re-re-render it in avi and put it as that or something. But here's a 10 hour thing i did between two days.
Damn now I want a payload map based around multi-track drifting

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I was wondering what you guys think of Karma's new video :v:

While it's cute and looks well animated...
Do people really run out of ammo that much on heavy? I mean... Every time you gun down a person you literally get 100 bullets back thanks to the medium ammo packs they drop upon death. Honestly, I'd probably never use it... At least not over Sandvich...

This is possible especially on the attacking team of Payload maps, Heavy generally wants to stick with the cart cause he's an amazing cart pusher and doesn't tend to go places much.
Having that item saves him a lot of time having to leave the cart to find ammo.

That and when using the GRU with the speed buff it gets he'll (probably) get 55% faster movement speed.
That is simply genius
It also buffs the Heavy and makes him even more of a support tank for the team, I would have no issue voting that into the game
It seems heavily situational, if you haven't a medic this won't replace the Sandvich.
I can see what they did with the temporary increase in health gain from dispensers from your 'Pardner'.
But if you haven't the Engineer to do so, you won't see a use for it outside of that.
As said before it's rare to find yourself with no ammo for the minigun (Unless you're a tomislav at the back of the map M1'ing or a Huo Long user).
I personally like the idea of the "Fill the ammo + clip" as I can see some pretty cool pushes using that mechanic on Soldiers/Demos which are pushing up to keep fire on the enemy.
Kinda wish the pack could do a little more for your teammates aside the Engineer, but it's a nice change for a minor support role.

Trading a 50% health pack for your medic so you can stand still and deploy something that is literally laying on the ground everywhere or
in the gooey chest cavities of your enemies and whose only real upside is useless if you don't have an engy with a dispenser up in a convenient and safe location is not a buff.
Sandvich will never not be the best heavy secondary until the TF Team wishes to either fix heavy to be more versatile or
until they nerf it into the ground with the rest of his weapons which is far more indicative of the TF Team's sense of balance based on their deplorable treatment of the Heavy Weapons Guy.

There are other ways to make a secondary useful for heavy. One I've been toying with for some time is a primary that allows heavy better range options then his normal miniguns and allows him to be better at attacking at a distance. But it's downside is that it has to be reloaded and has a fairly lengthy reload time. It might be more warranted to run a shotgun along side it in the off chance you get caught off guard and need it to defend one self.
This would be a situation where I would stop use a shotgun on heavy. But only if the primary is good enough to stand out on it's own in situations it's ideal in.
The only one that really seems plausible, balanced and fun/fair to use was the Bloodhound Rifle.
However I think the mechanic would suit the likes of Sniper or Spy more than Engineer.
The revolver model wise just sounds messy, and having a massive 70% damage reduction on a revolver is rather questionable.
And the portable provision is just meh, the disadvantages kinda out-weigh the advantages. Especially the removal of being able to place dispensers.
unkol den makes shit weapon concepts
The only one that sounds even remotely usable is the first one.
The other two are pretty much useless:
You give up your primary for the ability to make a single guy visible to everyone through walls for 10 seconds or less, which sounds great, but that sort of ability wouldn't be that powerful unless the other team is weak. It's pretty much unviable if A. your team isn't great B. the other team is not braindead.
It also leaves you pretty much defenseless, because even spies can shoot you, and that weapon can't kill people ever, your only choice would be to use a pistol with it, but even then a spy could shoot you with a pistol a few times and you're dead, worse if you're being attacked by other classes.
You have to leave everything to your team, so if they don't take care of your problems, you're going to be dead.
Wrench doesn't win against a gun in ranged battle.
You give up a secondary for the ability to become a shittier dispenser. In most situations where this would shine, a regular old dispenser would be better. It would be unviable because A. You're slower, which makes you an easier target. B. Ammo isn't that hard to come across, and medic heals better. C. Dispenser is 100 times better.
If you want the dispenser backpack, just move the dispenser to where you want, and place it.
every time I've run out of ammo as heavy i'm generally within walking distance of a dispenser, ammo box or dead enemy. and that's in competitive. in casual I don't even care about ammo, it's so plentiful that a sandwich replacement is pointless. I don't see a good appeal for the weapon imo
I haven't watched the concept video so i'm speaking strictly of the ammo rezerv, It's definitely a good base concept with potential but shipping it as they've presented it would find very little use outside of maybe defense heavy with no dispenser up

I'm in the same boat personally. I'd rather a tool like this being for the spy. But I'd personally have it as a sapper replacement instead of a gun.
Been toying around with an idea as of late to make a sapper replacement be a tool the spy can place into the world like a small engineer building. One that highlights enemies that get close to it like the outline of a payload cart that everyone on your team can see. If spotted, the enemy team just needs to shoot it to break the tool as well, no need for wrench or homewrecker/neon annihilator so picking where to place it needs to be chosen smartly as well.
I'd like to see spy get different sets of tools to approach situations though. In order to use this tool, he has to give up the ability to sap engineer buildings as well. Along with potential other tools in the future that could be useful in their own ways, but require carefully picking which would benefit the spy and his team the most. Also, the tools would help out the spy in a way as well. Giving him different ways to approach a situation will help make it that the he's hopefully less predictable to the other team as well.
It seems smarter at least then to continuously buff and nerf him at least. But gives him options to be more useful then he is. Plus sabotaging the enemy seems like it would fit the image of the spy as well.
personally i think it would be pretty decent for use in mvm i never used the sandvich
Honestly... Depending on what level ( mostly due to ammo locations and what not ) I might use this in Mann vs Machine. I don't really run out of ammo that often in it unless the Engineer's dispenser keeps getting destroyed though.
The deployment time is still kind of problematic for me though, so it depends... I'd rather Heavy deploy the ammo down and it becomes a temporary ammo station for anyone who runs near it till depleted or gets destroyed.

You are just as slow with the backpack as carrying a normal dispenser, and either have to have time to go back to the old dispenser, walk back, then wait for the upgrade animation to finish; or spend 100 metal to place down a dispenser, wait for the build animation/be immobile while whacking it. The backpack doesn't need to be retrieved and I assume starts working on spawn and has no build cost. Also, medics can only heal one person at a time unless they taunt with the amputator, while a dispenser can keep multiple people at full health. If the backpack idea is bad because a medic would do better, then normal dispensers must be a bad idea too.
Did he say in the video it was a secondary? Because it could easily work as a pda if valve ever decides to use that slot.
Simple background for simple people.
