Like, just capping the end point then having the cart do a fall animation, then have it explode a couple seconds after would get around this clearly duct taped solution they have.

Seems like it'd be pretty easy to just make capping the final point the trigger. It triggers the change in the HUD anyway. I can't imagine it would be more work to make the capture trigger the explosion than it is to keep patching the same bug.
That'd require some sort of delay. The bomb takes a couple seconds after the point is actually capped to fall down the pit and then explode.

No, I mean... you'd have to be able to have the trigger-on-point-cap somehow operate off a delay. Currently the delay is "physical" - the bomb falling into the pit is the trigger. Done right, the difference wouldn't be remotely noticeable. I just simply don't know how simple (or not) actually coding in the delay would be, if the trigger was changed to be the point being capped.

Add iflter_minecart entity so only the cart triggers it. The only reason is not exactly laziness but the need to recompile the maps leading to 180 MB updates for a ridiculous fix

Surprised they didn't went with anything with an electric eel for the neon annihilator reskin (I would have gone with an anchor with the eel wrapped around the rounded part), makes a bit more sense than just a plain swordfish skelly.
