Because at the moment it looks like he's going down to take a massive dump on the floor. Another thing is the distribution of weight, with the way he's currently standing Soldier would be face-first on the floor in a few seconds. Also think about the silhouette of the pose, can you reduce that image to a silhouette and be able to tell what's going on? Sure, the idea could probably've been made shorter, it was even the plan to just be a short to begin with. But after we got a few ideas of what could happen in the video, it slowly turned into something like a 2:30 minute length video. And after making videos for a while, I've come to realize that people will complain about small logical issues, as to "why characters did that" or "why did that happen." So we worked on a lot of inner connections throughout the video so [I]hopefully[/I] most made sense when you ask why something happen. It basically started with the question as to "why didn't he just run away when engineer got near, or turned into something like a heavy instead. Why turn into a sentry when you have all these options." That's how the whole "he tripped and broke his tools" came into life. We kept asking these questions and basically build it on that. That's basically the reason as to why it's 5 minutes. Trying to avoid things that did not make sense.

Trying to avoid things that did not make sense.[/QUOTE] Problem is: its a gag, and a very old one to begin with. there wasn't so much you could do before it got old - and it unfortunately did pretty fast. as a result, you get a 30 secs joke being drag for 4 and a half minutes without even delivering a punchline. i'm not trying to shit on your production values here(ligthing, camera work and animations look well done), but it feels like you [I]really[/I] overextended your script and over explained a joke for the sake of fitting the extended category.

But I can see your point if you think the whole "spy is sentry" thing should be funny all the way through. Which I didn't expect. That was just supposed to be a surprise really, and a way to get spy in trouble. The things happening should be the focus, but if that's not your form for humor, I can very well see where you're coming from. Thanks for the feedback though. And yeah, it's a rather old idea. But I think you could say that with most videos nowadays. :v:

Nah but nitpicks aside, I really liked how Badwater looked in that lighting. Is there any mod that can make it look that nice in game?
so far when it comes down to saxxies its not what you do, but actually how you do it. a poor execution usually leads to a story poorly developed. one could effectively cut your video right where the engie steps on top of the boxed spy and you'd had delivered a solid punchline to the whole joke. see its not a matter of "taste", but rather a lot of really odd choices that doesnt add anything to the plot but instead just "force" each event. he could just had walked away easily in the first act(facing only a lonely engie), yet on the second and third he's basically torn apart, hit by both engie, heavy (and most likely the rest of red team) and still run away without major problems. and why would the engie keep the sapper or the disguise kit? why put two guns there? why would engie commit to the exact same mistake as the previous day? how did he not notice a gun and a watch when he carried his buildings in the first place? why he needed a heavy to carry his sentry when he carried it perfectly fine a while ago? why carry them when there was a teleport right there? again, seems like more effort was put into fitting and overextending the script to match the 5min mark over actually developing a proper story.

Most other people seemed satisfied with how it turned out, as it's rather a collection of small jokes rather than one big. I get your point though. I've been looking at many things, yet there's still not enough to explain everything. But explaining them with the video itself instead of just leaving logic thinking to the viewer would just've expanded on the video even more. Which no-one would've liked. Basically engineer could be bored on the battlefield as he's one of the players who only stands by his nest, so he picks up stuff that might seem broken, as in the disguise kit and sapper, to fix. Which is why the disguise kit gets fixed in the first place. Spy does not run off because he has nothing to disguise himself with, no disguise kit nor watch, that's dropped at first, so he's stuck until he's forced out of the situation, where he gets his kit back, and only by luck really. Two guns is mostly like asking why pyro picked up the dispenser. It's not a game mechanic, but it's possible to be a thing and for him to own to guns. He doesn't notice the gun and watch because it's placed behind the wall from where he comes from. Heavy just noticed the scream of help (which happens because engineer's still surprised by the sentry's been flying off, not because he wanted help to move it,) which made heavy wanted to help. Though I don't have an explination for the teleporter when it comes to logic, I guess it's just a choice of way to make one scene go from 1 to 2. I'm unsure what you mean by engineer making the exact same mistake as the other day, and I can't give you another reason as to him not seeing the gun and watch when he walks back than they're up against the wall and small, so he probably doesn't notice instantly. I hope that helps! :v: Also you're the only one I've yet to see say it's overextended, which is sort of why I said it could be a taste. If you weren't satisfied throughout the whole thing but a lot of other people were, wouldn't it be seen as a taste?
i've tried to point the flaws in the script and story telling and gave reason because i consider these as "flaws" as a poor choice/poor development that in return are the result of an overextended video. i can give you an even more indepth reasoning and even show you an edit of the whole thing if you want through pms, but just because i'm the only one who elaborated on this video's issues doesnt mean its just a matter of "my taste" on "comedy". for the record though, when you have to explain a joke you automatically kill it. so a video filled with small jokes [I]that have to be explained[/I] (and that also explain the main joke) is an absolute overkill. and yes, its all about the punchline. I've just explained a reason as to why certain things happen. None of what I mentioned was really part of what's "the funny bits." But I guess it's hard to judge what parts are "supposed to be funny" if everything felt overused from 30 seconds in. Also, if it's all about the punchline, then I don't get what the problem is. There's literally punchlines throughout the whole video. There's just not that big one. But I rather wanted a good ending on this whole thing. Just because it's filled with comedy doesn't it mean it's supposed to be a comedy video only. Which is why there's no big punchline at the end. It's supposed to end off where spy gets everything back and moves on. Everything's still a matter of taste though. A video might be amazing to you, but it might not be for the guy next to you. Saying it has flaws because, as you said, things you specifically consider as flaws, doesn't mean it's flaws. Certain things can be seen as flaws by one guy, while improvements from another. So why isn't that taste? Isn't basically everything just about taste, where some is more common than others? Sure, there's certain things you can do if you want to be sure to make a good video, but videos aren't really bound by rules, only by suggestions which have proven to be working most of the time. You're allowed to go a bit off-track like that really, which is what we've been doing because we felt as it would fit. I do get there's flaws, it's far from perfect, but please, let's take it to pm if you want to continue. The video's just supposed to be funny. I get that it's not for everyone, and it's sadly not for you, but please don't make me regret that I just wanted to make people smile.

The only real thing I didn't like about this one is the medic's voice acting, just didn't sound right. Archimedes sounded pretty good though.
