shoot the flare as you hold M2 to achieve maximun height. as for the timming, someone posted a map config that can be used to train your ability to time the flare.
Hi, been a while since I've been here.
Just played TF2, pocketed a sniper with my vaccinator against a cheating sniper. The cheating sniper kept calling me a hacker, how Ironic.
Also, off-topic, but how the hell do I log into my old account here lmao.
Uh no, don't hold M2, just shoot it at the ground. If you hold M2, it'll lock your trajectory and you'll actually get less height.
I hope we get some Pyro balances soon
Check the "Help" section on the upper-right corner and search for the "Legacy" text.
Detonator is the most underrated pyro secondary.
You can actually go pretty damn far with it for little effort.
Thanks<3
this is not true tho

depends if willingly inflicting 40 dmg to yourself each time is considered an "effort"
According to the video, it actually is true - holding it only helps for horizontal jumps like jumping from the last defensive spawn of Upward to the battlements and back.
The models for cosmetics are in tf2_misc/models/player, the models for weapons are in models/weapons. In Jungle Inferno they tried to move community made and promo items from both into models/workshop and workshop_partner respectively, but something messed up so a lot of the models are both in there and their original locations, I made a list of all the duplicates, probably around 1,100-1,300 total dupe files. What's strange is that a lot (maybe all) of the dupe .mdl files have different file sizes.
That's an insane amount of dupe files. Do they have any notable effects on the lay man, or is it more of an interesting fuck-up?
Seems not to have had any affect besides an extra 1 or 200 megabytes taking up space. The models for the community weapons that got festivisers are only in the workshop folder, not weapons, don't know if it means anything, except that they interacted with those files last Smissmas, and didn't remove the dupes.
i love this community. the care it takes for looking after tf2 is what i feel keeps it in a good condition. I'm glad we gots ppl like you borealis.
On the same note, would anyone be able to direct me to being able to look at the code script for tf2? I want to read into this spagetti code and understand tf2 more.
Correction: I mean the festiviser models for weapons that got them are only in the workshop folder, they're not in the regular weapons folder.
Thanks You mean the 2013 source code leak? Don't know where to find it. Also is the reason rotating skyboxes on 2Fort (and other maps? The clouds rotate on Banana Bay which I assume is a rotating skybox) broke known?
well i mean more of the code or whatnot that's mentioned on stuff like the wiki. I just would like to know what to look into to help fix the game files. Also if anyone has experience on the certain materials that use that dx8 or whatever. I'm having issues finding replacement textures for them, as they seem to ignore the rules of the pyroland replacements procedure.
sure no prob, just get started here - http://www.valvesoftware.com/SOURCE_InfoSheet.pdf and valve will be happy to send you TF2's code for "extremely competitively prices"
you do not get locked tracjectory. you get less push force for vertical jumps. the reason for the delay is to make the actual flare explode as close to your feet as posible.
haha dang i ddnt know it cost money. oh shoot. Looks like im gonna have to fiddle more before i get into it.
Even if you buy a Source license it won't have the TF2 specific code.
Blame my bad memory, but someone posted a Detonator Jumping tutorial a while back, I think it was this one?:
Name is Detonator Jumping after Gun Mettle - Advanced Techniques and New Record Jumps. By VAVLIE TF2

So, is it surreal to anyone else that we're almost two years since the War! vote from Meat vs. Match, and Heavy still hasn't received anything but a banana?
Heavy received the best weapon of the pyro update by a significant margin though.
Did he? The Thermal Thruster is both more revolutionary relative to the class, and useful (albeit situational); the Dragon's Fury revolutionizes Pyro play by introducing a conceptually unique weapon with decent stopping power; the Second Banana does the same thing Sandvich does, but heals less and recharges at Dalokohs Bar speeds--YAWN. Heavy gameplay hasn't changed one bit with that weapon.
Thermal Thruster is incredibly limited and clunky with its slow switch to and from speeds. You cant use it to engage, you can't use it to escape, you can only use it to travel because of how many downsides it has. Get good with detonator jumping and you'll quickly realize how bad the jetpack really is, since the detonator will let you travel faster (albeit with self damage), and will also open a lot of new ways to engage with pyro, something the jetpack can only dream of doing.
Dragons Fury is an interesting concept, but ultiamtely its a lot of work for no real reward. Its TTK vs Stock isn't that noticable, but Stock has the added benefit of having the new busted flame particles that you can abuse the shit out of making it the clear winner between the two.
Meanwhile the Banana has empowered a Medic-less Heavy playstyle, something he desperately has needed for a while. Being able to heal every 6.7 seconds vs 25.7 seconds more than makes up for the 100 less healing the Banana does, I ususally use lunchbox item when I'm around half health, and since neither weapon overheals I don't even notice the missing healing. With all that said the Banana supplies heavy with a lot more immediate HP than the Sandvich ever could, You pretty much have an on-demand large HP kit in you pocket whenever you want it (except more since its 200). This gives heavy a lot more freedom than just being Payload bitch/ Medic Pocket and lets him go off on his own a bit, and he doesnt have to try to rush to HP kits like Soldier, Scout or Demoman have to. Its not the interesting new playstyle weapon Heavy needs, but it is by far the most practical weapon of the update. And the absolute genius of this weapon is that it doesn't even powercreep the sandvich because despite all these upsides it rocks, the sandwich is a more impactful team healing, effectively giving Heavy two viable options for his secondary.
Sometimes simplicity really is best.
You're not wrong, but the Dragon's Fury is a heck of a lot more of a "fun new toy" than the banana.
Sometimes fun can be had not through novelty, but being enabled in different types of play.
The banana is exactly what solo heavy needs, no remarks there.
The thermal thruster's stats are underwhelming and yes, is clunky and not a very skill based movement tool. Its basically Dva's jump jet ability complete with the fucking first person joysticks and cooldown. Its like valve was playing overwatch during development.
Although I disagree on the dragon's fury.
Its stupidly strong against slow enemies, light classes, and it's very small aim requirement goes away when paired with the scorch shot and it's easy afterburn for full damage shots.
It melts heavy, it melts sentries, and once the flamethrower gets nerfed down to a properly functional state, it will likely be a bit better than it since it won't deal such immense damage in comparison.
I'd still very much disagree that the Jetpack has no skill/is bad, you can make great use out of it. I'd go as far and say that the stomp/knockback on landing minigame it has in combination with airblast is extremely fun.
I do think it could use a higher switch speed, alternatively make it actually work with the Degreaser.
they also still didn't delete the no longer used viewmodel models and textures, they probably don't take too much space but still, they have no reason to be there since 2015.
they really need to clean all the dupes and unused stuff
If they made the Thermal Thruster work with the Degreaser switch speed the Degreaser would actually have a use again.
