You're right, transparency would do a lot, but they refuse to talk about anything that isn't 100% confirmed shippable. They wan't updates to "speak for themselves" but we don't get many updates. Hopefully they'll move to the biweekly update system Dota 2 has. Valve employee Dario Casali (It's speculated that he is the team member behind mannpower) was recorded getting mad at and kicking a pair of pubstomping soldiers on a mannpower map. He told them to switch teams for balance when you can't switch teams at will in casual lol.

Odd they admit being able to switch teams is nice but then remove the feature entirely
throughout the years every single time tf2team has apologized for the lack of communication they just turned silent immediately after and this endless cycle has never changed.
I remember a gibus appeared out of nowhere infront of me, almost gave me a fucking heart attack.
They might not communicate much internally either, Dario might not have even known you couldn't switch teams at will. Something kind of funny, Drunken F00l is rather talkative for a Valve employee on r/steam, guess the people who want to communicate left the TF team.
They might not communicate much internally either, Dario might not have even known you couldn't switch teams at will. This would explain so much about the state of the game.
Also I wish they reverted the nerfs on Caber and Axtinguisher. Say whatever you want, but both of these weapons are so bad that It's not even worth to use them.
CTFFlameManager::IsValidBurnTarget function tells what is a valid burn target. There's a harcoded list of entities classname. "func_breakable" "tf_pumpkin_bomb" "tf_merasmus_trick_or_treat_prop" They will collide with "tf_robot_destruction_robot" but only if the gamemode is robot destruction it seems. It will also return true if an entity is "alive", and is either a game player or a Nextbot (mvm tank, hhh, merasmus, monoculus ect...) I may have missed some stuff but that's what I got from server code.
Just reflected tons of projectiles ( Arrows, Rockets, Pipes ) in casual, yet my part still says 0 Projectiles Reflected. What?
Not that I agree with buffing, but with the change to airblast, Degreaser (which had already been nerfed at this point) went from "okay sidegrade" to literally the worst flamethrower by a mile with no actual usage that isn't beaten out by stock, Backburner, Phlog, or DF. Its gimmick was puff n sting, but new airblast mechanics and change to switch speed on the weapon means you're always better off using Stock for the higher damage or DF for the better burst.

That post outright says the stock flamethrower kills a Demoman faster than the degreaser. It's also talking about comboing in general.
Some info on VACnet, the Valve machine learning anti-cheat system. It says they have double the server capacity that they need for CSGO so hopefully it comes to TF2 soon.
Hey the John McDonald in that article is McJohn, mentions he was between projects in 2016, I think he left the TF team after Tough Break.
Worth noting is that this system works with Overwatch, a tool that is used by players (and now the AI) to check demos of people reported during competitive mm games, it doesn't monitor games in real time, but it checks the demo's that are automatically recorded when a comp match starts. In addition, Overwatch isn't applied for casual games in CSGO Unless TF2 team adds the same overwatch system and utilizes VACnet, it won't come any time soon, best bet for that would be with the competitive rework, and even then cheaters will be free to cause chaos in casual.
i want more toys for the heavy
Aye, it's not better in every situation but it shows the degreaser is far from useless if used correctly.
I'm surprised how much I love the banana, but the man needs some new unlocks worth using. Unless you're just memeing or playing Medieval mode, your only real options for Heavy are Stock/Tomislav, Sandvich/Banana, and Stock/KGB/GRU. Of those, the banana is the only one to come out after twenty-fucking-eleven. For the pseudo-mascot of the game, they sure treat him like shit.
He's pretty much the de facto mascot of the game. I mean he's on the box, most of the promo material, a large amount of the shorts, etc That being said he needs some new guns. Hell, even a new "set" of items would be nice, like the old Brass Beast/Steak/Claws combo
Scout and Soldier are more the mascots these days, for some reason I'm thinking Jill is a Heavy main.

Remember where comics were supposed to be bi montly? Now imagine if the major updates really do end up being yearly and then later bi yearly.
Honestly, if we got two decent-sized updates a year, I'd be more than happy. They don't have to necessarily be big multi-day affairs like Jungle Inferno, but if we could get a few weapons and some balance patches every six months or so I'd say that's pretty good for a decade-old class shooter. Heck, I'm still messing around with the Jungle Inferno contracts, which is a big deal considering I all but lost complete interest between when Overwatch came out and when Jungle Inferno hit. I've accepted that we're never gonna be at the early 2010's level of "here's a major update every few months that has a ton of new weapons and maybe a new game mode and also here's an entirely new way to play classes X, Y, and Z", but I think TF2 is better than to just devolve into lootboxes and stagnation. I was worried for a while, but Jungle Inferno showed that they can still crank out some good shit if there's a fire lit under 'em (no pun intended). Gimme a fucking Heavy subclass that turns him into a defacto tank rather than just keeping him a free headshot and part-time cart nanny. He's my main, and while I have loads of fun with him (especially if there's a competent Medic on my team), it's clear he's gotten possibly the rawest deal out of anyone in the entire cast.
if jill was a heavy main heavy might be an actually decent class alas
Heavy doesn't get much love because of several reasons: People likely spend the least money on Heavy cosmetics Noobs find Heavy unfun to fight against Many players find him unfun to play
I was talking to a friend on Discord about Spies and I said "Words will not dissuade us" their response? "This will", followed by: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/286786238168432650/427915188520353792/grave.png #ThePainNeverEnds
the amby died for the greater good
speak for yourself. I used to play pyro a lot, and I'm more than happy for my flames to now actually hit things when they're supposed to. it's certainly not perfect, but I firmly believe that JI was a net gain for pyro.
oh sure it was. even the most useless weapon in the entire game as of now, the gas "stop pretending i'm jarate" passer was given to the pyro. the gave pyro one of the most broken mechanics in the game and have yet refused to fix it(not even the V2shortcircuit took this long to get patched) it was a net gain for the pyro. mad gains.
All this crying about amby got me to pick it up again, and using it now is... exactly the same as before. Clutch headshots still do 102, mid range is still like 90. The range is nowhere near as catastrophic as some people make it out to be, you can still defend yourself. #AmbyNeverDiedForAnyGoodOrWhateverTheFuck
