Nice, they made it so autobalance first asks for volunteers, then switches a candidate when they die, and if nobody dies quickly enough they're forcibly switched anyway, as well as apparently kicking in more quickly when the game's unbalanced.
What a great update. I'm legitimately happy to see this, even if a lot of it was long long overdue. I hope they continue to closely monitor and assist in growth of competitive (a la collecting stats and hosting a tournament when comfortable). If all goes well, this could be the start of its resurgence.
can't get over that sketchek tribute in the axtinguisher's stats, especially since his last video uploaded was titled "bequest" too. damn. it's really sweet to see. this is just... an all around out-of-nowhere really pleasant update, lots of changes, reworks, and a damn good set of cosmetics too. and they communicated it on twitter and through system messages! this is a very positive step to start this year with

Autobalance is basically back: Updated the autobalance feature to more quickly respond to team imbalances Will select the best candidates to balance the teams then ask the candidates for volunteers If no volunteers are found, candidates will be switched when they die If no candidates die within a reasonable period of time, candidates will be forcibly switched to the other team
Alongside this update looking really nice - I love me a beefy bugfixing update - that sketchek mention is too damn nice.

It was fun at first, but not being able to switch to demopan for revenge kills was a huge detriment to the experience.

oh, casual/comp HUD is now game-wide and works in community servers this will also be an improvement for community-run comp- you'll be able to see what classes are actually down without needing to memorize their names! that's a big positive change
