DotA 2 always had more attention compared to TF2.
Makes sense.
Retarded children often get more attention from their parents than the normal ones.
you forgot the only thing that means anything to valve:
it makes more money
Dota 2 has a permanent team of Icefrog and his devs/testers so they get more updates.

What's so bad about Dota 2? Millions of people enjoy it.
edit: and I'm pretty sure it's the most complex of the three main mobas on the market right now

It's bad because DOTA 2 players are stinky and they're nerds! and they're the reason TF2 doesn't get any updates, not the company behind the games! They're a bunch of dumb meanies!
Wow it's almost like dota 2 is a larger team
Marginally.
Marginally.
At most around 15 for the TF team, compared to probably like 50+ on the Dota team.
this is just unfair
it isnt, there is no "right" for games to be treated equally, and two games are being worked on by different teams, not "valve" as a singular person playing favorites
Y'all think TF2 gets no updates go look at Ricochet :disappoint:
Y'all think TF2 gets no updates go look at Ricochet :disappoint:
although I know you are ~shitposting~, it's actually not a bad thing for a solid base game to never go under forced, unwanted changes full of bugs or problems.

Better example of "It's not as bad as you think": Gigantic, a beautiful game with unique gameplay and full of innovative ideas, and which has been out of beta for about 8 months now, is getting shut down in a few months and just got its last update.

Millions of people enjoy bootlegged meth, that doesn't mean it's quality stuff or even good for you.

What the fuck? Really? Was it that unsuccessful?
I played it a fair share. Damn.

If you're talking about addictive aspects of games with microtransactions, TF2 has that as well.

I think he's just making a joke about how just because something is popular, doesn't mean it's good. Though I think shitting all over dota is kind of petty. Some genres just don't mesh well with some people. I wouldn't touch mobas with a ten foot pole but I'm not going to run around preaching about how bad heros of the storm is just because I don't like one kind of game

Yeah I don't play mobas either, I understand being jealous of Valve's more updated games, but I just don't like the bitter resentment of CSGO and Dota 2.
editL tho I did install dota 2 today to try it out again

If I'm allowed to make a bit of a personal jab - Johnny's style of posting usually involves one or two sentences at most where he's either ranting about how everything that bothers him as a Heavy main can go eff itself (Snipers, Spies, explosive classes, Pyros, probably a whole lot more), or being petty about class mains, other classes being favored by Valve, Valve's conspiracy against Heavy, or shitting on other popular MP games like Overwatch, Dota etc.
Very rarely have I seen anything positive or more elaborate from him.

I meant more for the TF fanbase generally, I know the droughts are long and content is mixed but hating other games isn't the way to go imo.

I post positive things when they happen, ie: bottle breaking got fixed, cosmetic I liked got added.
And when asked I do elaborate quite a bit about my positions.
The problem is those two conditions usually only occur when a major update hits and so when positives and essay long post material run out the problems and annoyances inherent within TF2 and Valve become even more apparent.
He's talking with hyperbole. Or, in other words, he's talking with a sense of humour.
Also this.
[sp]also call-out posts are frowned upon[/sp]

He's talking about hyperbole. Or, in other words, he's talking out his ass.
I don't see how Dota 2 getting an update is unfair.
Bigger game, 2x bigger playerbase, the competitive scene is ONE OF THE BIGGEST in the world.
I don't play dota or even interested in it, but please, don't compare dota to tf2. It's comparing an elephant to a mouse.
When I said "it's unfair" I meant "it bothers me that dota 2 gets a 'spring cleaning update' (theoretically fixing bugs and optimizing the game) when tf2 needs something like that about 100x more"
I wonder if there's a lone soul out there who's just utterly disappointed in Valve for not updating Ricochet

When you take into account the fact that TF2 was used as a live testbed for changes that were later given to both DotA and CS:GO while TF2 was left with a half-baked half-finished variation of that exact change, yes people are ripe to be a little upset about the overall handling of the development pipeline. DotA and CS:GO have rich and prosperous competitive scenes because they were deliberately grown to be as such.
There'd probably be a lot less ire if those tests actually went somewhere for TF2 instead of just being cheap throwaways that clutter the game instead of being polished or removed when deemed insufficient. Or maybe just not using it as a live testbed at all.
There's a point where the oldest child gets tired of getting carted around because the younger siblings want something for themselves. For a lot of people that point has passed long ago. And I'm sure most people are glad they've stopped using TF2 as a testbed wholesale.
Then there's also the other side where "spring cleaning" is in much more need in TF2's code than DotA could hope to fathom. It's the difference between need to vacuum a mostly-tidy home and needing to install new carpeting.

It's a fun game. Honestly, with how cheap it is on sales (less than a dollar usually), we could probably organize a little FP Ricochet night and just have a blast.
My new favorite strategy is stopping ubers with the holiday punch.

Kind of a sweet detail, the main TF2 theme and the Mercenary Park theme both end in nine notes, the first TF2 music and the latest both end in the same way

and that RED triumphs and BLU triumphs end in 6
and that RED triumphs and BLU triumphs end in 6
Yep, for 6s
Also, do you think when comp gets the overhaul the end bit with the podium should be removed? Could created extra salt/toxicity

I'd imagine them making it more rage inducing
